Chapter 71: Chapter 71: She’s Much Better at Seduction

Several people were in the warehouse, but not a single one was willing to get a Band-Aid for Vivian Quincy.

The supervisor had wanted to go buy them himself, but his boss called him away to report on his work. He had no choice but to leave Vivian and her injury for the time being.

Vivian Quincy didn’t say anything either and went to the restroom to wash her hands. She checked the time. ’Anna should be off work by now.’ So she sent her a text message: "Anna, are you free? Could you bring me some Band-Aids and alcohol?"

Anna had just gotten off work and was about to head home to see Beanie. When she received Vivian Quincy’s text, she stopped and gave her a call. "You’re hurt?"

"Yeah, I cut my hand," Vivian Quincy replied honestly.

Anna said worriedly, "Is it serious? I’ll head over right now. Wait, isn’t there a pharmacy near your company? Can’t you just go out and buy them yourself?"

"I can’t. Jasper Ford won’t let me leave." Vivian Quincy shook her head, her expression grim as she looked down at her injured hand.

Anna was truly gobsmacked by a weirdo boss like Jasper Ford. She said indignantly, "His employee is injured and he won’t even let her go out to buy medicine? Why is Jasper Ford so detestable? So what if he’s rich? Does being rich give him the right to abuse you like this?"

"Alright, Anna, can you come over? If you can’t, I’ll figure something else out," Vivian Quincy asked earnestly. Her hand really hurt.

Anna said, "Give me ten minutes. I’ll be right there."

She hung up and hurried to the pharmacy to buy the supplies. Just as she was about to pay, a tall, dark figure suddenly appeared behind her. It was her childhood friend, Zachary Thornton. He snatched the bag of medical supplies from her and asked, "What are you sneaking around buying in the middle of the day?"

"That’s mine! Give it back!" Anna said angrily, trying to grab it back.

Zachary Thornton simply shoved her aside as she lunged for it, then took the items out of the bag one by one. "You’re not sick, and you’re not hurt. Did you come to a pharmacy to buy birth control pills?"

"You’re insane!" Anna was so furious her eyes turned red, and she couldn’t help but curse at him.

Seeing that the two were about to come to blows, the cashier said, "Excuse me, could you two settle the bill before you start fighting? There are other customers waiting."

After rummaging through the bag and finding nothing suspicious, Zachary Thornton smiled and said, "How much is it? I’ll pay."

"That’ll be 92.50," the cashier said with a smile.

Zachary Thornton took out a hundred. "Keep the change."

He grabbed the bag and dragged Anna out of the pharmacy, asking as they walked, "Who is this for?"

"It’s none of your business." Her arm ached from where he’d shoved her, and she was still fuming.

Zachary Thornton stopped in his tracks. "Do you want me to push you into the road and let a truck run you over?"

"How can you say something so vicious!" Anna was thoroughly incensed. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Not going to answer? Then I’m taking this," he said, turning to leave.

How could Anna let him leave? She hurried after him. "It’s for Vivian! She’s hurt and waiting for me to bring her these Band-Aids and medicine. Give them back!"

The man, who was already a few steps away, stopped. A complex expression crossed his handsome, cheerful face. "Wanda Quincy’s sister?"

"Yes," Anna nodded.

Zachary Thornton jabbed her forehead hard with his index finger. "Do you have a death wish? Why on earth are you hanging out with Vivian Quincy? Aren’t you afraid of what Wanda Quincy might do to you?"

"You don’t need to worry about me." Anna rudely snatched the bag back and slapped Zachary Thornton’s hand away. "Just because you’re working with Wanda Quincy, you’re taking her side? You scumbag."

"I’m trying to warn you. It’s one thing to offend Wanda Quincy—if something happens, I can cover for you. But you’d better not go out of your way to provoke Jasper Ford," Zachary Thornton said gravely.

Anna scoffed. ’Cover for her? For years, this Master Zachary has done nothing but exploit her.’

She grabbed the medical supplies and rushed to Imperium Group. When she saw Vivian Quincy’s injured hand and the place she was working, Anna’s anger flared. "That damned Jasper Ford! Is he out of his mind? How could he make a girl like you work in a place like this!"

"What’s wrong with a place like this? Hey, you, watch your mouth, or I’ll have security throw you out," one of the women in the warehouse threatened Anna, displeased.

Zachary Thornton, who had followed Anna to see Vivian Quincy, arched an eyebrow, displeased. He gave the woman who had snapped at Anna a thoughtful look and said, "You’d best shut your mouth."

The woman was so frightened she didn’t dare say another word.

Vivian Quincy hadn’t expected her colleague to give Anna a hard time. She held Anna’s hand, a little embarrassed but very grateful. "Thank you. I can treat the wound myself. You should get going."

"What about you? Do you have to keep working later?" Anna asked, extremely concerned.

Vivian Quincy shook her head, reassuring her, "I’m not working. I’m taking the afternoon off. You should head back."

Not wanting to disturb Vivian Quincy any further, Anna left.

Vivian Quincy tended to the wounds on her palms alone. Anna had also bought her some breathable gauze, which made dressing her hands easier. To prevent further injury, Vivian Quincy wrapped both palms until they were covered in white.

Her colleagues, who were snacking on sunflower seeds, sneered. "Would you look at that? She’s starting to play the victim. Her palms just have a few blisters. Does she really need to wrap them up like that? Anyone who didn’t know better would think her hands were broken."

"Maybe she’s trying to get the CEO’s sympathy. When it comes to acting, she’s way better than us. We should take a page out of her book. Maybe the CEO will see us, take pity, and promote us to be his personal assistants, too."

"’Personal’? What do you mean, *personal*? Skin-to-skin?"

The two of them burst out laughing.

Vivian Quincy couldn’t understand how these people’s minds could be so vile. With a helpless sigh, she went back to work.

When it was time to clock out, everyone else left. Only Vivian Quincy couldn’t.

She was exhausted, so she dozed off for a bit in her chair.

In a sleepy haze, she sensed someone approach her, but she was too tired to open her eyes. By the time she woke up, it was already past nine o’clock at night. Vivian Quincy yawned, still drowsy.

Seeing she was awake, the supervisor walked over with a smile. "Vivian, you can head home now."

"But I haven’t finished my work," Vivian Quincy said, surprised, but she still reported her status honestly.

The supervisor recalled what the CEO had said when he stopped by earlier and smiled. "You can finish it tomorrow. Go home and get some rest. Don’t worry, the CEO won’t blame you."

"Alright, I’ll be leaving then." Vivian Quincy turned to grab her bag, left the company, and sat at the bus stop to wait for her bus.

Suddenly, a black Buick pulled up in front of Vivian Quincy. She didn’t pay it any mind at first, not until two people rushed out of the car and headed straight for her. Vivian Quincy realized something was wrong. She quickly glanced around the bus stop; she was all alone.

"Mmph... Who are you? Let me go!"

Someone clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her directly into the car. She struggled violently, desperately clawing at the car door to keep them from closing it, but it was all in vain.

With a dull THUD, she was thrown into the car, and the door was slammed shut!
