Chapter 84: Chapter 84: Vivian Quincy, Do You Think I’m That Easy to Fool?

Vivian Quincy had been keeping an eye on the private suite, and her heart tightened when she saw Zachary Thornton come out. She asked nervously, "What were you just doing?"

"Just asked Jasper Ford a few things." Zachary Thornton sat down, saw that the food had been served, and smiled at Beanie across from him. "Is it good?"

Beanie nodded obediently. "It’s yummy."

Anna leaned closer to Zachary Thornton and whispered, "Don’t tell me you just went to ask Jasper Ford about Beanie, did you?"

"Mhm." Zachary Thornton didn’t deny it, nodding directly.

Vivian Quincy choked hard. She hurriedly looked up, her eyes filled with confusion as she stared at Zachary Thornton.

Everyone was looking at him, waiting for him to speak, but he just gave a light smile and placed a piece of meat in Anna’s bowl.

Anna said unhappily, "I’m asking you a question. What did Jasper Ford say?"

"He said he doesn’t have any illegitimate children, and that it’s not even a possibility." Zachary Thornton paused before continuing, "I don’t think he was lying. Madam Ford adores children. If he really had one, he would have definitely brought them home. So, my young friend Beanie, it looks like your dream of entering a wealthy family and inheriting billions is shattered."

Having been called out, Beanie pouted and mumbled, "I don’t have that kind of dream. I just want to find my daddy so he can spoil Mommy. Who wants to inherit a fortune, anyway?"

Zachary Thornton smiled, served himself a bowl of rice, and began to eat quietly.

After dinner, Vivian Quincy was conflicted about whether to take Beanie home. Anna said, "You better not. It’ll be safer for Beanie to stay at my place."

Vivian Quincy had no choice but to drop Beanie off at Anna’s before taking a taxi home herself. It was already very late. Clutching a milk tea she’d just bought, Vivian used her key to open the door. The room was pitch-black and utterly silent. She flipped on the light and screamed at the sight of a figure flashing before her eyes!

There was someone sitting in the living room!

Vivian Quincy’s face instantly turned pale. The hand that had been about to close the door instead gripped the doorknob, pulling it open bit by bit, ready to flee at a moment’s notice!

"Close the door." The deep voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet night.

Vivian Quincy took a hard swallow of her milk tea. ’A million times no!’ she screamed internally, but under the man’s sharp gaze, she stiffly shut the door. She took a cautious step forward and forced a smile. "P-President, what are you doing here? Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? I would have met you at the door."

The man watched her with a faint, lazy gaze, his entire being exuding a wicked and arrogant aura. He patted the empty space beside him. "Come here."

The color drained from Vivian Quincy’s beautiful face, and her heart pounded so erratically she feared it might burst from her chest. She cautiously took two steps forward, stopping several feet away from Jasper Ford.

"Did you need me for something, President?" Her voice was barely a whisper, terrified of accidentally angering him.

Jasper Ford looked up at her. "Coming back so late. Where were you?"

"I went out for dinner," Vivian Quincy answered truthfully. Sensing the man’s terrifying aura, she subconsciously took a step back.

The subtle movement did not escape Jasper Ford’s eyes. He said nothing, merely tapping the spot beside him again with one elegant hand, motioning for Vivian Quincy to approach.

’But how could she possibly dare to go over there?’

’A grown man had snuck into her apartment without making a sound. How could she not be terrified?’

Succumbing to the immense pressure, Vivian Quincy forced herself to walk over and slowly sit down, feeling as if she were on pins and needles.

The moment she sat down, Vivian Quincy was hit by a powerful, icy aura. She subconsciously tried to flee, but Jasper Ford seized her by the wrist.

Vivian Quincy tumbled into Jasper Ford’s arms, her chin slamming against his hard collarbone. She whimpered in pain.

Hearing her delicate whimpers, a strange light flickered in the man’s eyes. ’Her voice is surprisingly pleasant,’ he thought. ’It has a quality I like.’

However, the thought of Jeremy King made Jasper Ford’s expression darken. Filled with disgust, he wanted nothing more than to toss this filthy woman aside.

And what he thought, he did. Vivian Quincy, who had just stumbled into his arms, was brutally thrown to the floor by Jasper Ford.

"Oww, that hurts!" Vivian Quincy’s face was ashen.

Jasper Ford said, "It’s supposed to hurt."

Jasper Ford looked down imperiously at Vivian Quincy’s pained face. "Who did you have dinner with today?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"A friend," Vivian Quincy explained.

Jasper Ford’s expression grew grim.

Sensing he was about to get angry again, Vivian Quincy quickly clarified, "It really was a friend."

"What kind of friend keeps you out this late? Vivian Quincy, do you take me for a fool?" Jasper Ford let out a low, cold laugh, his face devoid of warmth.

Vivian Quincy hastily explained, "I’m not lying to you! It was that girl you saw when you came to my apartment the other day. I went out to eat with her."

"Vivian Quincy," Jasper Ford said, enunciating her full name.

Vivian Quincy suddenly remembered seeing Jeremy King that day and quickly amended her story. "Oh, right! I also saw Jeremy King after work. He approached me and wanted me to get close to you again to watch your every move. He even offered me a lot of money, but I refused. After I got out of his car, I went to dinner with my friend. If you don’t believe me, you can check. We were at The Mezzo Restaurant."

"I was also eating at that restaurant this evening. How come I didn’t see you?" The man was clearly skeptical.

Vivian Quincy looked a bit awkward. "Well... I saw you."

"Oh?" The man hummed, his eyes narrowing.

Vivian Quincy quickly said, "The President entered the restaurant around 7:30 and went to The Celestial Suite. You were with two other people: Madam Ford and Caden Chandler. Madam Ford left the suite around eight o’clock, and she was very angry when she left..."

She recounted Jasper Ford’s movements from the evening with perfect clarity, and not a single detail was wrong.

Caden Chandler, who had been assigned to tail Vivian Quincy, had stopped following her after seeing her get into Jeremy King’s car. Jasper Ford had assumed she’d gone off to fool around with that old bastard, which was why he had been so furious.

But now, it seemed...

A captivating smile played on the man’s lips as he asked her dangerously, "Since you saw me, why didn’t you come and say hello?"

Vivian Quincy’s heart skipped a beat, and a cold sweat broke out on her back. She forced a smile and said sheepishly, "How could a low-level assistant like me dare to disturb the President?"

"I don’t think you were being shy. I think you just couldn’t be bothered," Jasper Ford exposed her bluntly.

Vivian Quincy shook her head. "Absolutely not!"

Jasper Ford sneered.

Vivian Quincy didn’t dare to explain further. She knew that no matter what she said, Jasper Ford wouldn’t believe her, so she gave up trying.

Seeing how late it was and how improper it was for a man to be sitting in her home, Vivian Quincy ventured, "I’ve finished my explanation. If the President has no other questions... perhaps it’s time for you to go?"

"One more thing," the man said, his icy eyes filled with disgust.

Vivian Quincy blinked her wide, uncomprehending eyes. "What is it?"

Jasper Ford pointed at her clothes. "Take that piece of junk off."
