A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 99: Little Rascal, How Am I Not a Good Person?
Jasper Ford detested Vivian Quincy’s stubborn expression. His cold fingers landed on her lips. "Vivian Quincy, you’ve been getting bolder and bolder lately. Now you even dare to ignore me."
Not to be outdone, Vivian Quincy raised her head and said, "Jasper Ford, I have no obligation to answer such a crude and shameless question!"
After a pause, Vivian continued, "Who I’ve been with has nothing to do with you. We’re just a boss and a subordinate. You have no right to meddle in my private life."
She forcefully pushed Jasper Ford’s hand away from her face!
She turned to leave.
But the man SLAMMED the door she had just opened shut. He used so much force that the loud noise nearly woke Beanie, who was sleeping on the bed.
Vivian frantically glanced at Beanie, worried. She only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw he was still asleep.
Jasper Ford’s domineering hand gripped the girl’s small face, wrenching her head, which had turned away, back toward him. He said angrily, "What are you looking at him for? Look at me!"
Vivian was defiant. "I’m already off the clock. Why should I listen to you? I refuse!"
She simply wouldn’t look at Jasper Ford. She’d rather look at the toilet, at the flies and mosquitoes buzzing outside, at a mouse, at dust—at anything but Jasper Ford!
Her stubbornness was enough to make anyone want to hit her!
That’s what Jasper Ford was thinking. But hitting a woman wasn’t something a real man would do. He really couldn’t stand Vivian Quincy’s infuriating little mouth, so he bit it. Hard.
Vivian was completely stunned. With a sudden burst, she shoved Jasper Ford away with all her might. He crashed into the desk behind him with a loud THUD. The man’s handsome face darkened. It was this sound that woke the sleeping Beanie.
The housekeeper knew Jasper Ford had brought Vivian Quincy and Beanie back and was afraid they might get hungry during the night, so she had the kitchen prepare a couple of extra dishes. When Beanie woke up, he smelled an enticing aroma of food and asked groggily, "Uncle Ford, is it time to eat?"
Vivian furiously wiped her mouth with her sleeve. ’It hurts... Damn you, Jasper Ford! Is he an idiot? Who bites people?!’ She was trembling with anger, but in front of Jasper, she was furious yet dared not say a word. Forcing herself to sound calm, she said to Beanie, "Not yet. Didn’t you already have dinner? Go back to sleep, okay? Mommy will wake you up when it’s morning." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Oh, but I think I’m a little hungry," Beanie mumbled. Noticing Jasper Ford was also in the room, he asked in confusion, "Is Uncle Ford here to call Beanie for dinner?"
The man’s sharp gaze fell on Vivian Quincy. He chuckled deeply. "Yes, but I’m here to call for your mommy."
His deep voice made Vivian very uncomfortable. She felt there was a hidden meaning in his words. Her face flushed red as she glared at him. Gritting her teeth, she lowered her voice and warned, "Don’t talk nonsense."
"Am I wrong?" Jasper Ford’s voice was teasing.
Vivian Quincy refused to answer Jasper Ford’s question.
The two were locked in a war of words, neither backing down. The strange atmosphere made Beanie suspicious. Without a second thought, he scrambled off the bed and stood between them, separating the two people who looked furious enough to "bite" each other to death. He then solemnly warned Jasper Ford, "Uncle Ford, even though you’re very nice to me, you’re not a good person. Please stay away from her."
The soft, childish voice coming from the little guy was especially pleasant to hear.
Jasper Ford was suddenly intrigued. He smiled and asked, "You little rascal, how am I not a good person?"
"Uncle Ford is all tangled up with that bad woman, Wanda Quincy, so you’re not a good person. Therefore, I won’t allow you to get close to her, and I don’t approve of you marrying her!" Beanie said stubbornly. He couldn’t just stand by and watch his beloved mommy fall into a wolf’s den!
’This Uncle Ford is a hypocrite. Even though he likes to buy me yummy food, I know he just likes me because I’m young, cute, and likable!’
Everything else was negotiable, but when it came to his mommy, Beanie would absolutely never hand her over.
Mommy was supposed to marry a peerlessly good man like his daddy—dashing, debonair, and handsome. Even though he hadn’t appeared yet, Beanie was sure he would be better than Uncle Ford!
So, no way!
Beanie spread his arms, taking a protective stance in front of Vivian Quincy.
Jasper Ford was amused by the cute little guy. He squatted down and said, "Beanie, who said I was going to marry her?"
Hearing this, Beanie got annoyed. "Then why is she still your assistant? Why are you still so nice to us?"
The little guy was so worked up he was sputtering!
Jasper Ford gently wiped the spittle from his face and asked gloomily, "Beanie, between her and me, whose side are you on? Am I really such a bad person in your eyes?"
In Jasper Ford’s mind, the answer should have been a no-brainer. He had been "raising" this little chubby kid for so long, showering him with all sorts of delicious food and fun toys. If the boy had even a shred of conscience, he would stand with him.
But...
Beanie unhesitatingly stood by Vivian Quincy’s side and lifted his chin haughtily. "Uncle Ford, you can humiliate anyone else, but you cannot humiliate her. She is the one I’m going to protect."
"The one you’re going to protect..." Jasper Ford chuckled, amused by the little guy. He gently poked his forehead. "Did you fall on your head or something? You’ve only met Vivian Quincy a few times. Why are you so protective of her?"
"I haven’t met Uncle Ford many times either," Beanie retorted with a straight face. He was truly angry now, his cheeks puffed out. He looked fiercely adorable. Jasper Ford felt like Beanie wanted to jump up and smack him on the top of his head.
Such a restless little guy.
’That little mouth of his is just as annoying as Vivian Quincy’s!’
’They’re both so annoying!’
Jasper Ford snorted coldly. ’I’m not so desperate that I’d actually make a move on Vivian Quincy. A woman like her isn’t even worthy of my notice—she isn’t qualified to carry my shoes. Even if her little mouth is sweet, I still look down on her!’
Standing up, Jasper Ford said, "You can go."
Without a doubt, he was speaking to Vivian Quincy.
Beanie suddenly hugged Vivian Quincy’s leg and looked up. "Beanie is scared of the dark. Beanie wants Assistant Quincy to stay with Beanie."
"What were you just saying? All that talk about protecting Vivian Quincy, and now you’re scared of the dark?" Jasper Ford retorted.
Beanie’s little face turned red. Although embarrassed, he bit the bullet and said, "None of your business!"
