291 Ch. 291 Jamie Arc (part 5) A Mother’s Sacrifice

“Well, hello. I miss you, Jamie.”

Jamie swallowed nervously and stepped back without taking her eyes off Lawrence. Not that she wanted to admire the man’s handsomeness, but she monitored the man’s movement, who was now advancing toward her. Jamie felt uncomfortable meeting the man from the start, let alone being alone like now.

Usually, when Lawrence was about to ‘catch’ her, Loraine always appeared and urged the man to play with the girl. She didn’t know if Loraine had a sixth sense or if the girl could hear the screams of her heart so that the girl always appeared at the right time when this man was about to approach her.

But it was different now as Loraine wasn’t here by her side. The girl wouldn’t show up no matter how hard she screamed inside, and she couldn’t ask for help, considering she couldn’t speak.

“Master Lawrence? Is there anything I can help you with?”

Jamie looked towards the back of the door and was immensely relieved to see her mother’s tired but dignified face standing there.

“No. I heard your health has been deteriorating lately. I just wanted to see you.”

Jamie’s mother smiled faintly at that. “Thank you for your concern, sir, but I feel better now.”

“Good to hear that. I don’t have to worry anymore.” His words were directed at Jamie’s mother, but his gaze could not leave Jamie, who was now standing behind the girl’s mother like a scared rabbit.

.....

Jamie felt relieved when Lawrence Shu came out of this room and disappeared from the view of the two.

“Are you okay?” asked the mother worriedly while cupping her daughter’s cheeks, earning a nod from Jamie.

“Did he do something to you?”

Jamie shook her head and then moved her hand. ‘You came just in time. I’m fine.’

“Even so… it’s only a matter of time before he attacks you. I’m getting weaker and won’t be able to protect you anymore. How about you get out of this place and start a new life? I will speak to the master.”

‘But what about you?’

“I’ll be fine here.”

‘I don’t want to leave you. If you want me to go, I want you to go with me.’

“Jamie, you know I can’t do it. I am bound by a contract for the rest of my life here. I won’t be able to get out of this place, and even if I run away, Master Shu will send his men after me.”

‘Why?’

Jamie’s mother looked at Jamie affectionately without telling her daughter that this place was a dangerous place for her and Jamie.

“Jamie, it’s time for you to get out of here. I may not be able to go, but you can do it. You are unattached to this place, and I’m sure the master will not come after you.”

Jamie’s mother pulled her daughter towards her wardrobe and then took apart her clothes until she found a savings book.

“Here. I have saved money for you, and you can use this money when you leave this place. You can go wherever you want and continue your studies at the university you want.”

Jamie winced at her mother’s words. Even though she wanted to continue her studies, she was sure her mother’s savings would not be able to pay for her four years of college.

But when Jamie opened the savings book, her eyes widened in surprise at the nominal amount beyond her thoughts.

ThisI… this… how did her mother have this much money? Even though her mother had worked for decades in this place as an assistant butler, there was no way she could handle this amount of money.

‘How did you have this much? If we really own this money, we can leave here together.’ Jamie persuaded her mother to come with her.

But the mother shook her head sadly. “No, Jamie. I can’t. I told you I’m bound in this place.”

Jamie shook her head violently, trying to get her mother out of this place with her, but she felt her body being pushed as she felt a stinging burn on her cheek. She looked at her mother in shock as her mother slapped her in the face for the first time.

Tears began to collect in her eyes while the mother looked sorry and tried to approach her daughter. Jamie, who was too shocked, walked backward, avoided her mother, and decided to return to her room.

Jamie locked her bedroom door, then lay on the bed, burying her face in the pillow. That day, Jamie cried all night without anyone to comfort her.

‘Loraine, I need you.’

Of course, her friend was busy preparing for her wedding and could not hear her cries.

That night, Jamie’s mother came to Deke Shu’s room to discuss Jamie’s withdrawal. Jamie’s mother did everything she could to hide the fact that Deke Shu was not the nice person Jamie believed he was.

Jamie thought Deke Shu paid for her school because of her mother’s loyalty, who had worked in this house for decades. But the truth was, the man paid for her school because her mother had sold her soul and body to him.

Deke Shu was still a mafia leader, and even though he already had a wife, the man loved women, and one of the man’s mistresses was Jamie’s mother.

Jamie’s mother had made a humiliating sacrifice to win Deke Shu’s approval and would never restrain her only daughter. No matter what happens, Deke Shu or anyone living there is not allowed to touch Jamie or look at her lustfully.

The mother knew Lawrence had set his sights on her daughter the way Deke Shu had looked at her when she first started working here carrying the newborn Jamie.

Jamie’s mother was willing to be tarnished, and her body was allowed to be toyed with by the master and his men, who wanted to take out their lust for a woman. Some of the money she kept in a savings account in Jamie’s name was payment for her body services every night when the man was in heat.

But she would not allow anyone, including Lawrence Shu, to touch her daughter, and she didn’t want Jamie to suffer the same fate as her.

Hence, the time had come for her to ‘kick’ her daughter out of this place. She should have asked Jamie to go with Loraine two years ago. But she didn’t want Jamie to get suspicious and attract the attention of others, so she didn’t tell her to leave.

“Master,”

“Oh, what are you doing here? I am not asking for your services tonight.”

“I have a request. Please let my daughter go.”

Deke Shu put on a crooked smile. “You know what makes me want to grant your wish, right?”

Jamie’s mother nodded her head and began to undress in a seductive manner.
