Old rules, let's talk about the book.

When chatting with fellow authors, we all tend to refer to "old books" of over a million words as 'yellow-faced women', meaning there is emotion, but the passion is gone, inevitably making it feel tedious and dull. We all hope to finish the book and take a break before starting a new book and shining with a "little wife".

Therefore, whenever updates for "Divine and Strange" are sluggish and squeezing out content is as hard as pulling teeth, I start setting up new books to maintain enthusiasm.

The most energetic phase when writing a new book is when I crazily stuff all the material I'm interested in into the outline; it feels like an explosive high.

Of course, don't get too high, it's easy to fall into a sage moment, feel empty after the thrill, and become too lazy to write.

The outline and detailed outline went smoothly. Through sourcing from "Milk Powder", "Diver Dave", "Diablo IV", "Potato Brothers", "Demon Hunting Tales", I'm filled with confidence, feeling I've mastered the magnetic field movement of a million horses and could explode this world!

But when it came to writing the opening, it wasn't as smooth, and I was ruthlessly rejected by various authors and editors, with five drafts mercilessly scrapped, creating a five-time never-seen-before record.

Among them, a certain recently resumed updating pigeon was the hardest, nearly shattering every highlight design I prided myself on, leaving my mindset broken, unable to rise again.

Not to mention other authors and editors taking turns to ravage me.

Fortunate enough, with unmatched will, indomitable perseverance, surviving against all odds, I endured through it.

"Content slow to heat up? Too many stitched elements? Goldfinger not tightly integrated with the world view? How do you respond?"

"It's simple, I'll just publish the book!"

The above is purely exaggerated, I'm very grateful for the gentle guidance from the big shots and editors, allowing me to write better content from tearing down and starting over repeatedly.

I've said my piece; you can put down the knives now.

Still remember before publishing, Brother Gou asked me if I was confident in this book.

I honestly said, no, I'm full of anticipation for the plot after fifty thousand words, but I'm not sure if readers will chase it to that point, nor whether I can endure the harsh new book period.

Here, I must especially thank the readers willing to go along, for giving me a certain answer and full confidence.

Of course, I also need to thank the author friends in the group for tolerating my insanity. With a lot of pressure these days, whenever I can't write satisfactory content, I go crazy in the group saying "I'm walking on thin ice my whole life", yet they didn't kick me out, generously sending saucy photos and roast chicken videos to help relieve my stress.

Most coincidentally, in two more days it would be my birthday. This book is both a New Year gift and a birthday gift to myself.

On New Year's Day, I write a summary on my social media, self-reflecting. I do think a lot, unable to stop the inner consumption, whether in life or work these years, walking stumblingly, visiting hospitals like eating and drinking, surrounded by various medicines, seemingly busy though doing nothing right.

But thankfully, there are always several friends by my side, coming and going, flowers blooming wither, none of us drifted apart.

My vision for the future is not to be too spectacular, just to keep moving forward is fine.

In the new year, I hope things go smoothly for dear readers, may everything be satisfying!
