Chapter 190: THE HATRED AND THE SCHEMES

If she lost the baby, there was nothing good would come to her. Dacre would be livid, obviously. He had threatened her to take care of herself and the baby, because he was not going to lose the last piece of Killian.

He didn’t say it that way, but Nycta knew that was what he meant. She was too hurt by the betrayal to feel anything. All this time she thought, he had something going on with Rose, but as it turned out, it was the same man that she had been spending her time with to exact her revenge.

How sick this whole relationship was.

Not to mention, if she lost this baby, she was going to sleep with some random man again, because Dacre couldn’t have a child on his own and he needed an heir to secure his position and unfortunately, Nycta’s fate tied with him in this matter. If they dethroned Dacre, she would go down with him as well.

"Nycta, I know you are upset because you misunderstood me and the king, but there was nothing happening between us," Rose said.

Of course, now Nycta knew. "But, it doesn’t mean you have never tried, sister." Nycta tilted her head, she took two steps closer toward Rose, who remained unfazed. She was furious because the union between her and Logan would happen in less than a week.

She thought, with the chaos for the revelation of the lycan, Dacre would need her more by his side to advise him.

However, Nycta made it very clear that she wanted Rose to be mated with alpha Logan as soon as possible, or else, she was going to harm the baby.

The threat left Dacre with no other choice.

"I never do that." Rose lifted her chain haughtily. "You think so badly of me, Nycta."

"But, that’s not what Dacre said." Nycta saw the flicker of uncertainty in Rose’s eyes. She chuckled. "I think so." Dacre had never said anything about it, Nycta only threw the bait and Rose bit it.

"That’s misunderstanding."

Nycta shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly, she was already showing, you could see her small bump. "It doesn’t matter. You are going to mate with alpha Logan anyway, that’s your intention to come here, right?"

King Amidas would come for the ceremony, but also because he needed to discuss about what they were going to do with the lycan and how to fight him back. It was a shock to know that alpha Khaos was the last lycan. It did make sense when they thought why he couldn’t shift.

"Are you trying to take your revenge on me?" Rose asked through gritted teeth, she didn’t have the upper hand in this matter. "This is a small ceremony. You are trying to humiliate me with this small ceremony."

The ceremony was small enough, even a mere civilian would have a better ceremony than her and Rose was still part of the royal family. She deserved better than this.

"We are in the middle of a civil war, do you want to upset the people? I heard you have built a good reputation in River Creek pack, acting humble, kind and whatever." Nycta chuckled derisively. "I am sure you can understand our current situation will only make you look bad in front of people if you have a splendor ceremony. I am here trying to help you with your reputation."

Rose put on her poker face, whatever raging storm she had inside, it didn’t show on her face.

"Thank you for thinking of me, Nycta," Rose said.

There was this tension between them, though both of them were smiling sweetly, this would only be the beginning. The war that the men fought out there would be so much different than the war between them.

The next day, Caiden was summoned to the alpha’s study room where he met with Khaos.

"I will go to Wolfdale kingdom," Bryden said ruefully. "I know my mistake."

"You will leave as soon as possible."

And that was the only thing Khaos said before he dismissed him.

After that, Khaos’s entourage went on two weeks long journey to reach his pack. Greywolf pack was still the same, but the people were more acceptable with the revelation that their alpha was the last lycan.

They were still worried because from what they learned, the lycan’s dynasty was a dynasty of a tyrant, yet Khaos had never displayed that as far as he led the pack. His people flourished under his leadership.

"This is your room," Mabel said, she opened the door to a nice room with a big window and balcony, but of course, her room when she was the luna of Blackthorne pack was way nicer than this, indicating that this room was simply a guest room.

"Where is Khaos’s room?" Zuri asked, she didn’t even take a step inside her bedroom.

"Why do you want to know where the alpha’s bedroom?" Mabel narrowed her eyes, when she did that, she looked like Caiden, obviously because she was his mother.

"I am his mate, I am going to sleep with him." Her choice of words sounded vulgar and this upset Mabel.

"You don’t have the ceremony yet, you can’t call yourself as his mate."

Zuri didn’t say anything, she gathered her hair to the side and pulled down the collar of her dress. "It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" she smirked, as she showed Mabel her mark. Khaos’s mark. "Ceremony is only formality."

And without waiting for Mabel to tell her where she could find Khaos’s bedroom, she walked away. Mabel was not the only one, who knew the location of the alpha’s bedroom.

"You need to respect our tradition!" Mabel said harshly, she grabbed Zuri by the elbow, but she swatted her hand before she could get a grip on her.

"You should know better not to touch me. I don’t like to be touched. Didn’t Ezra tell you that?"

Mabel could feel the danger that emanated from Zuri.
