A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 249: HE DIDN’T CARE ABOUT ME
Chapter 249: HE DIDN’T CARE ABOUT ME
Bryden had betrayed him. Khaos should have known this. His judgment was clouded because Bryden had been nothing, but loyal to him all this time.
Just like Caiden, Khaos assumed, it was only a mishap of his judgment when he had to deal with Killian, since the two of them used to be close in the past. Yet, in retrospect, it was a pattern.
It could be said that Khaos’s lenience toward his beta and gamma because for him, Bryden and Caiden were the people that he would consider as close as the definition of family, yet both of them had betrayed him.
Not only that, Bryden actually did it for the second time and this time, he really had crossed all the lines. There was no coming back from this.
"I am sorry but I can’t tell you about it, because I know what you are going to do. You will ruin the ritual for her. You will not be able to go through with the last ritual." Declan was panting heavily with Khaos’s hand still pierced through his stomach. "My great lycan, please, understand that this is for the best for our situation. You are not in your right mind now. That’s why I have to do this. Not because I have betrayed you nor I didn’t oblige to your order, but because we know you are not capable to do the logical thing here."
’We.’
The word didn’t go unnoticed by Khaos. His grey eyes darkened and he looked even colder, more dangerous.
"The fact that you have gone ahead to chase down your mate to be here and to stop the ritual when you knew very well that she is capable of going through the last curse, is the proof that you can’t see the whole situation logically. That’s why we need to take this case and make our own decision."
Declan was vomiting blood now. His healing ability couldn’t heal him when Khaos’s hand was literally still inside his stomach.
Yet, Declan kept talking. This must be the longest conversation they had. When they were in the River Creek pack, they didn’t really interact with each other, since there was Rhett, who would be more dominant.
"Please, think about my advice carefully. The cult has been the advisor for the old dynasty for centuries, you know that. That’s why I am here, ass your advisor, you need to know that this is for your own good and for the rest of all of us."
From the scriptures that he read and from the story that Ezra told him, there was a group of people, who had helped with the ritual, but it was only the lycan family, who knew about the identity of these people.
As it turned out, it was Terrence family from Wolfdale Kingdom. It did make sense, since they had sent one of their daughters to the Great Palace, while the other daughter turned out to be the Shell.
Meanwhile, Khaos didn’t want to hear Declan’s bullshit anymore. He threw his body away from him, he clawed a good chunk of his flesh and Declan’s body skidded across the throne room. He was coughing blood, he was panting and holding his stomach, which now had a big hole in it as his healing ability was fighting for his life.
He was not going to die since Khaos didn’t strike, didn’t attack his vital, but obviously he wouldn’t survive if the lycan decided to attack him again. But this time Khaos approached him, he grabbed his hair and dragged him out of the throne room.
If this man insisted not to help him, then he was going to find Zuri on his own. He didn’t mind to drag Declan as he went to search for Zuri, along the whole palace.
Khaos was going to follow these magic users’ scent, he was sure they had hidden Zuri somewhere with them. But, before that, Khaos sent a signal for the warriors to start marching toward the Great Palace.

Zuri was high out of her mind because Lorent gave her the drugs that she wanted, something that she needed.
In the corner of the room, she curled her body, hugging her legs and moved back and forth, she was giggling like a stupid girl, she saw everything very funny, even with the way Lorent stared at her and the fact Khaos was here.
Little thing made her happy, her mind felt so light, as if all of her worries were washed away somewhere, even though she was hidden so Khaos couldn’t find her. freewebnøvel.com
"You are so stupid to think that Declan will manage to convince Khaos to give back your mate," Zuri laughed again at how nervous Lorent was, thinking he could hide it really well. "You are very gullible, you know, to think that Declan will be able to persuade Khaos, to give back your mate. Don’t you think that you are so silly to even believe that, or are you very desperate to believe that?"
Zuri pulled her hair now, she scratched her neck, feeling uncomfortable with the dress she was wearing. This room was humid.
"Your mate is so stupid. Lorent is stupid..." Zuri sang, repeating the same lyric, which annoyed Lorent. "Mate bond is stupid. You are stupid. You are crazy. Zuri is crazy..."
Lorent gritted his teeth, trying his hardest to ignore Zuri’s out of tune song and ridiculous lyric.
"Oh, don’t look at me like that. You should know what Khaos is capable to do. I told you to let me go, so I can seduce him to spare your life."
"I don’t want my life to be spared."
"Do you really think he will give your mate up? I don’t think so." Zuri scratched her neck more and now she drew blood. The wound on her stomach was bleeding again.
"You are here. What he wouldn’t do for you?"
"You are so sweet," Zuri chuckled. She didn’t feel the pain from the scratches wound on her neck.
