A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 26: I AGREE WITH YOUR OFFER
Chapter 26: I AGREE WITH YOUR OFFER
Zuri was amazed when she entered the main building. It felt so different. Even though this place was understandably smaller than the palace, the aura that surrounded this place was way so different.
It felt more regal and reverent, as if the family of old lycans was still living in this place.
She learned the history of this continent and what happened thirty years ago. Her father fought in that war too and loved to brag about his golden days.
"You can wait for a while here, Luna. Would you like a drink? Perhaps some wine?"
The warrior eyed the cub in Zuri's arm. He recognized that cub and felt the need to inform the gamma about it.
"Yes, please." Zuri caressed the little cub's head, as it curled on her lap. This room was sophisticated, with gray as the dominant color. It reminded her of Khaos' eyes.

A butler appeared to deliver her wine, he told her that the alpha needed a few more minutes, since he didn't expect this visit.
"No rush."
The cub had stopped shivering and Zuri thought she was a little bit panicked to see her cub earlier and probably because she wanted to get away from that sick pack house.
And the first thing that came to her mind was Khaos' pack.
"...She is so beautiful, you need to see her!"
There was a hushed voice from behind her and Zuri turned her body around to see two little boys around the age of eight, hiding behind a huge statue of a firebird. She noticed they had red hair.
"Who is she?" The other one asked.
"I don't know."
"Hello," Zuri greeted them, but the two of them rushed away from the living room, leaving her alone again.
She was not alone for long, because not long after, the gamma entered the room and he frowned at Zuri. His frown only deepened when he saw the little cub on her lap.
The warrior informed him and sure enough, Caiden immediately rushed to the living room to find Zuri and the little wolf cub.
"What have you done to my cub?!"
Zuri was startled when she heard his harsh tone. She straightened her back, suddenly became defensive because he sounded like he was yelling at her.
"What happened to my cub?!" Caiden knelt down, he took care of the wolves here, thus with just one look, he could tell there was something not right with the cub.
"Can you stop yelling at me?" Zuri's voice was rigid, as she glared down at him, which snapped Caiden out of his hysteria, reminding him that she was a luna. Her rank was two levels above his.
"My apologies." He then pointed at the cub. "Can I see it? I am sure this is the cub that the Alpha gifted to you a few days ago."
Zuri lifted the cub and it stirred awake, it made noises when she put it in Caiden's arm.
"I will check on him and bring him back to you." Caiden stood up. "Have you named it?"
"No." Zuri also stood up. "I think I am not capable of taking care of the cub, you don't need to give him back to me."
"But, it's a gift from the Alpha." Caiden had been sulking for days because Khaos gifted this cub to the luna of the Blackthorne pack, but now when she wanted to give it back to him, he stopped her.
"It's not polite to return a gift."
Zuri and Caiden turned their heads to the source of the voice, and saw that Khaos had entered the room.
The alpha carried himself gracefully, as if he was wearing a crown on his head, demanding their full attention, but his gray eyes found Zuri's and his focus was on her.
"I heard you came looking for me?"
"There is something I wanted to discuss with you." Zuri smiled sweetly. "I am considering your offer."
That was a cue for Caiden to leave the two of them, but before leaving, he threw a quick glance
at the alpha, unfortunately, Khaos didn't pay him any mind.
"Let's discuss this in my study room."
Khaos led the way and as they walked in the hallway, none of them spoke. Zuri saw the trimmed garden and the fountain. The sky had turned dark and she knew it would be very, very late when she returned to her pack.
It was very impulsive of her to rush to the Gray Wolf pack. She could stir some rumors with her actions and her reckless behavior, but...
She didn't care.
She got high on all the tension that she created herself, by putting herself in the crossfire and disregarding the norms.
Fuck Xaden.
Fuck her father.
Fuck them all.
Zuri was aware that once she got down from this high, she would bear the consequences. This was why her father paid close attention to her. She indeed had more talent among his children, but she was also... the craziest.
Her father had to put a leash on her, in case her strong impulse got the best of her, just like
right now.
The change of behavior didn't go unnoticed by Khaos. He could see how different Zuri was when he met with her in the palace.
Currently, she looked more at ease...
He opened the door and let her inside his study room.
"Lovely room," Zuri said, as she looked around her. "You haven't changed the decoration in
this place. I can see a lot of Lycan insignia here."
"I like it this way." Khaos poured two glasses of wine and handed one to Zuri. "This building
has character."
"The Lycan empire was long gone." Zuri swirled her wine. "I read in history that the lycans
were an old family of shifters. The first ruler in this continent. It's a pity that their own people betrayed them."
Khaos said nothing, he studied her instead. "What brought you here, Luna Zuri?"
"I accept your offer."
