A Night of Desire-Chapter 103: A Quiet Sigh of Relief
Miles Quinn’s firm reply made Clara Grant momentarily forget her urgent need to go to the bathroom. She could only stare at him, dumbfounded and in utter disbelief.
’What did he say? That I’m his girlfriend?!’
Instantly, her heart swelled with a powerful, passionate surge.
But that was immediately followed by a devastating tsunami of shock!
’If Miles Quinn had said I was his girlfriend before today, I would’ve been absolutely ecstatic!’
’But now... I’m already married to Seth Quinn. I’m his sister-in-law.’
’So hearing him say that now just made me feel utterly mortified.’
’If he found out he’d just called his own sister-in-law his girlfriend, wouldn’t he die of embarrassment?’
On his way over, Miles Quinn had already seen the forum post and its dozens of photos. He didn’t know who the man in the car was or what Clara Grant’s relationship with him was.
But, deep down, he didn’t believe what the post said.
He didn’t actually know Clara Grant all that well, but for some reason, he simply trusted her character and integrity.
He believed she wasn’t that kind of girl!
However, just because he believed her didn’t mean everyone else would.
At a critical juncture like this, Clara Grant had been summoned to the vice principal’s office, and Director Conway’s tone with her was incredibly harsh.
Miles Quinn understood that this was a rather serious matter.
The situation was urgent, so he came up with this plan: pose as the man in the car, Clara Grant’s boyfriend.
The priority was to get her out of this mess first; they could figure out the rest later!
He looked at Clara Grant, her mouth hanging slightly open and her eyes wide with disbelief as she stared at him. He found her expression surprisingly cute.
The corners of his lips lifted slightly, and he gave her a subtle wink.
Although Clara Grant’s reaction was a beat slow, she instantly understood. Miles Quinn was only claiming to be her boyfriend to help her out of this predicament and prove her innocence.
For some reason, upon realizing this, Clara Grant felt a pang of disappointment.
But what she didn’t notice was that a small part of her had also quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Clara Grant had just given Miles Quinn a small, grateful nod when she heard Director Conway ask, "So you’re saying the man in those photos... that was you?"
Miles Quinn turned to face Director Conway and answered crisply,
"Yes!"
Director Conway, however, looked unconvinced. "But—"
She had barely said the word "but" when Vice Principal Chandler shot her a glare and promptly cut in.
"But nothing! Didn’t you hear Miles admit it? Since Student Grant and Miles are in a normal, romantic relationship, that proves the forum post is nothing but a rumor and Student Grant is innocent.
From this moment on, this matter is closed. Delete the forum post, and I don’t want to hear anyone mention it ever again."
The vice principal had spoken. No matter how reluctant she was, Director Conway could only mumble, "Okay."
...
After leaving the vice principal’s office, they passed the restrooms. Clara Grant turned to Miles Quinn, a little embarrassed. "S-Senior, I-I’m just going to the restroom. C-Could you wait for me?"
Without daring to look up at him, she quickly dashed into the restroom as soon as the words were out.
A wide smile spread across Miles Quinn’s face as he watched her figure quickly vanish into the restroom.
’I remember how merciless and sharp-tongued she was with Chloe Grant last time,’ he thought. ’I never expected her to have such a shy side!’
Clara Grant came out of the restroom a moment later. They walked side by side down the hall, got into the elevator, and headed downstairs.
Behind them, Director Conway was quietly making a phone call.
"...Yes, Miles Quinn said so himself... There was nothing I could do... They just went downstairs..."
