A Night of Desire-Chapter 61: Made His Heart Flutter
"I think you have the looks to be an actress. If you’re interested, you could try applying to the acting department at The Nymphaea."
Clara Grant was still in a daze. She didn’t fully grasp what he meant but nodded at him anyway.
The young man smiled again. "As for whether you were scared or hurt just now... here’s my phone number. You can call me if you need anything."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone from behind him handed over a piece of paper with a phone number written on it. He turned slightly to take it, then passed it to Clara Grant. "And yours?"
Clara Grant quickly recited her number, watching as he keyed it into his phone, one digit at a time.
"Oh, right. My name is Miles Quinn. What’s yours?" he asked after saving the number.
"I’m Clara Grant, but everyone calls me Clara," she introduced herself.
"Clara Grant... Clara," Miles Quinn murmured to himself before breaking into a wide smile. "That’s a beautiful name."
Clara also felt that her name had never sounded so beautiful as when he said it.
"You can keep the umbrella. Be more careful when you cross the street from now on."
After saying that, Miles Quinn turned, got into his car, and left.
By the time Clara Grant finally snapped out of her stupor, Sarah Shelby had already led her into the hot pot restaurant. The umbrella was still clutched tightly in her hand.
Once they had both recovered from the shock, Sarah Shelby was brimming with gossipy curiosity. She asked what it felt like to have a close encounter with a celebrity—the kind of thing countless fans could only dream of.
It was only then that Clara Grant realized. "He’s a celebrity?"
"Of course! Miles Quinn, the up-and-coming new actor, the dream guy of countless young women, and a freshman in the acting department at The Nymphaea."
Later, Clara Grant really did take Miles Quinn’s advice and applied to the acting department at The Nymphaea.
That incident remained etched deep in Clara Grant’s heart, but what she didn’t know was that Miles Quinn had long since forgotten it.
In his eyes, it was just a rainy day when a girl was nearly hit by his car—a plot straight out of a TV drama.
And he had merely indulged a sudden acting itch, playing a part on a whim.
Later on, they ran into each other on campus. She mustered up the courage to greet him, but he just looked at her with a blank expression.
Her explanation jogged a few fragments of his memory. So, whenever they met after that, he would call her Clara. They would nod and smile, occasionally exchanging a few words.
But that was all it ever was.
Clara Grant knew this was a one-sided crush. She hoped it could become something real but didn’t dare to get her hopes up.
Until that night one year ago...
"Clara, you’re a junior now. Have you taken on any acting roles?"
Clara Grant was lost in her memories when Miles Quinn’s voice suddenly cut in from the back seat, interrupting her thoughts.
She collected herself and shook her head. Even though she knew he couldn’t see her expression, she still managed a smile.
"Three years ago, I told you that you had the perfect look for an actress. Since you got into the acting department at The Nymphaea, I think you should start pursuing some professional work. That way, your years of hard study won’t go to waste. With your looks and a bit more polish on your acting, I’m sure you could have a great career."
...
In contrast to Clara Grant, who spent the journey lost in memories of the past, Seth Quinn spent the entire trip back to his company reliving that sudden kiss—a kiss he had intentionally deepened.
He couldn’t deny it. That kiss had truly made his heart race, and the memory of it was intoxicating.
His mind was also filled with thoughts of Clara Grant the whole way—a woman who was his type in almost every way!
As a result, his expression remained soft the entire time. He even wore a faint smile, one subtle enough yet shocking enough to astonish every employee in the company.
’Oh my god. I can’t believe the cold, stone-faced CEO actually has such a gentle, warm side. He can actually smile!’
Seth Quinn, however, was completely unaware. The gentle, faint smile on his face remained until he walked into the CEO’s office and saw the person inside. Only then did it vanish.
