A Serpent's Tale-Chapter 379: Another Bloodline?!
When I woke up, I was back in the chamber where I originally found myself in before all that illusory shit, the Egg now gone and cracks strewn about every surface. The door also seemed to have blown off also.
I got up, feeling surprisingly tired, yet when I checked, I still had like seventy-five percent stamina and a little over eighty percent of my mana. So why was I feeling so lethargic? My [SP] had dropped by about five percent, so it couldn’t be that either.
I was about to leave when all of a sudden, I felt my heart begin to pound and burn up like it had been lit ablaze.
"AACCKK!!" I keeled over and clutched a hand over my chest near where my heart was.
Suddenly I threw up and stained the floor red with blood. I choked on the air and my own blood as my heart burned both literally and figuratively.
I managed to turn and land on my side, spewing up another mouthful of blood. I could feel something happening within my heart. I don’t know what, but it clearly wasn’t nice.
It was as if something was trying to form inside of it and my body was fighting back against it.
Needless to say, it was incredibly painful and I was forced to lay there for who knows how long, creating a pool of blood around me that stained my hair and my face.
Eventually though, I was able to fight through this and somewhat control this burning within me.
Now that I had it under control to some degree, I tried to open my [Multi-Dimensional Storage] to get the healing potions I put in there, but my instincts flared immediately and my body froze, and I lost concentration for a second, allowing the uncontrollable energies within to start rampaging once more.
"AAAARRGGGG!!!" I screamed out in agony as I then spent another long while trying to get it all under control again.
This time, I knew not to use my magic, lest it flare up again.
For a while, I just laid there, concentrating on my heart and forcing it to calm down, but nothing seemed to really work, it was still burning hot and pumping fast and I had no idea why nor how to stop or control it.
Still, compared to not having control, this was a lot better. So, I just continued to lie there, on the ground, in pool of my own blood, and twitching in pain.
For hours.
At some point though, it started to subside, which I was grateful for. And soon after that, it went away completely.
Just as I let out a sigh of relief, I saw something I didn’t expect to see.
[Ding!]
[You have awakened a new Bloodline, granting you new power.]
’Huh? Bloodline? But I’ve already awakened both of my bloodlines to their fullest extent? How can I awaken another one?’
As I racked my mind for some kind of answer, another scroll appeared before me, telling me the Bloodline I had awakened.
[Ding!]
[You have obtained and awakened the Bloodline of [Astral Serpent: Ouroboros (Primordial)]. Your affinity for [Space] has risen.]
[Ding!]
[You have levelled up the following Skill; [Mana Heart: LvL. 6 (UP)] by 1.]
[Ding!]
[You have such talent and skill of your [Space] attributed skills that they have combined into [Astromancy: LvL. 3].]

I don’t know how long I stayed like that, but it was quite a while. I just laid there, staring the ethereal golden scrolls floating in front of my face with a dumbfounded expression, unable to think.
Eventually though, I got up. And when I did, I felt like I had completely regenerated as well as recovered all of my Mana.
I was speechless.
So much just happened and I was left there with no explanation as to why or how or anything regarding this situation.
Sure, I could piece things together, like it was the fact that the egg I swallowed, which I could no longer feel by the way, was the reason any of this happened. Sending me to that black space to fight that serpentine.
But how that led to this was beyond me.
Still, I was no longer in any form of pain, and my body had healed completely, so there’s that at the very least which was nice.
I had yet to dispel the scrolls floating before me, still reeling in shock mostly. But I quickly shook my head and willed them to disperse and disappear. There’s nothing I can really do about it, nor is this the place or time to do so.
I left this chamber and back out into the hallway, which also seemed to have sustained damage from whatever it was, most likely something to do with what happened to me.
All the lights were out, having fallen to the floor and died out. The cracks also seemed to travel all the way along up the spiral ramp also.
When I reached the top, I wasn’t surprised to find the main chamber also completely wrecked and torn asunder. Furniture toppled over and various potions shattered all across the floor.
All four doors where also blown off their hinges, now lying on the floor in pieces. The formation in the middle of the room was also broken, no longer glowing with light as it had splintering cracks running though it every which way.
I would’ve thought that the place would be overrun by demons by now since the barrier should no longer be up now, but no, this place was completely barren of any life aside from myself and the garden opposite me from what I could tell.
I guess whatever force I created whilst I was down there scared them all away. Or at least made them think twice about coming down here.
And since there was nothing left for me to do down here now that everything had been either partially or completely destroyed, I decided to go back up and into the open to see what the surface was like and if it had sustained any damage like these underground chambers.
The moment I did so I grimaced. Going back up meant stairs.
’Ugh, I hate stairs... Wait a minute... I don’t need stairs! I can teleport! Why didn’t I just use that before? Whatever, not important right now.’
The moment I began the process of using what was once [Spatial Shift] that was now a part of [Astromancy], I felt that everything was going so much faster and a lot smoother too. It felt almost natural. Which made it feel unnatural at the same time.
But the longer I used it, the less weird I felt using it. I suppose this can be attributed to both my new Bloodline and my improved [Space] affinity.
Either way, I willed the movement to happen and I teleported from the underground chamber to just a few centimetres above the surface of the realm.
And what I saw was absolute carnage.
Fire everywhere, trees trampled beneath the feet of gargantuan monsters and demons alike. Speaking of which, there were hundreds clashing all around me.
And the moment I appeared, all the native monsters stopped and stared at me. Which for some of them was a bad idea since it meant that they either received a serious injury or were killed because they stopped focusing on the fight to look at me instead.
As for the demons, most of them stopped to look my way too. Some of them were Pride demons, most of them were Lust demons, and I think I saw a couple of Greed demons around also?
For a few seconds, silence descended upon the realm at my arrival. But that was quickly shattered when all of the behemoth monsters suddenly either charged at me or disappeared.
The demons tried their best to stop them, or at least the ones they could, but the frenzied power the monsters attained out of nowhere was too much for them.
Somehow, I was able to sense that all of these behemoth monsters wanted to eat me. And so, I teleported way up into the air, far above the surface where they were conglomerating, and near the split in the sky leading directly into hell.
I don’t know why exactly I went here of all places. Maybe because it meant I could be close to my father once more through this. And I could indeed feel his presence through the tear, but I knew that I couldn’t go through.
Because I knew that if I went through, that would basically mean I give up on life and have no real way of getting back unless summoned. But with how powerful I am now, that would mean it would take a lot to summon me, just like my father.
So, for now, this was as close as I could be to him.
I knew that he was just on the other side of this tear, but I couldn’t see him through it. All I could see was fire and brimstone.
Still, I knew he was right there, and I could feel his pain in not being able to come over and hug me. And I shared that pain.
"Traytora..." His voice came through just loud enough for only me to hear, and I shed a single tear.
I was honestly tempted to just go through, but I didn’t because that wasn’t what he would want for me.
But that was enough sentimentality for the both of us. As now, we had to focus on the monsters rushing towards me.
