Chapter 1357: Bloody Energy

The irritability in Wei Lingnan’s heart almost exploded. Her voice was reprimanding and he was unable to answer.

Yeah, he already had Ah Luo, but why couldn’t he stop finding her? He froze and pressed down the chaotic thoughts in his heart. He used his teeth to bite on his left wrist and tore a wound onto it. His other hand tightened on Xia Yingluo’s hair, forcing her head to rise even higher. Then he put his injured wrist to her mouth and poured the blood into her like a waterfall.

She was choked several times and coughed. The bloody smell and his fierce eyes made her breathless.

She shook her head in vain, trying to break free of his control. The water in the bathtub splashed and wet their bodies.

He put his wrist to her mouth again, and almost shoved it into her mouth. His voice was violent. “If you don’t want to die, drink it. You wasted so much energy attacking Ah Luo, do you know you wouldn’t be able to keep your life nor the World Tree?”

She looked at him through the mist of steam and blood, and then realized what he was doing.

It was probably because he thought that she had lost too much energy, so he had traced her here to supplement her. It was too late to make a new potion, so he just bit his wrist and fed her his blood. She was a little frightened. Under the cruel and brutal appearance of the man, a delicate heart was hidden. He even cared about her life and death. It made her feel… unbearably forlorn.

Wei Lingnan saw that she was stupefied and grew impatient. He grabbed her long hair and poured blood from his wrist in her.

She uttered a vague scream in pain. All the sorrows and lingering fantasies turned to ashes, and subconsciously, she bit his wrist fiercely, as if biting an endless foe, anxious to tear away a piece of meat.

The sharp pain pierced his flesh, and he frowned but didn’t move.

In the misty water, the girl who was forced to lie half-up was pale, and her skinny face was spotted with blood. Her lips were soaked with blood, and her two small rows of teeth had long disappeared in the blood. She bit him bitterly, with hatred and a sort of despair in her eyes. She bit him so hard and so desolately.

His heart twitched a bit and was more intense than the severe pain on his wrist. He looked at her expressionlessly, slowly letting go of the hand that grasped her hair.

But she didn’t let him go. She slid down the edge of the bathtub, holding his arms in both hands, hanging her weight on it as if she were holding a life-saving piece of driftwood. The water showered her body and flowed down her face. Her teeth still bit fiercely onto his wrists, deeply embedding into it, as if she wouldn’t let go even if the world ended. The blood slipped down her lips and teeth, smudging her fair and clean body as if she was covered with a gorgeous wedding dress. She half-knelt and half-lied, biting him desperately. Her tears permeated, and her weeping cry was drowned in the continuous sound of water from the shower, becoming inaudible.

But he heard it.

He knelt down and embraced her with his still-moving hand.

Her soft body was stuck on his stout white shirt, and the water mixed with blood stained him as well.

He had lost too much blood and his skin became a little blue, but he let her bite him and didn’t push her away. It wasn’t until she was tired of biting him and crying did she let go of him weakly. He found that the tooth marks on his wrist were so deep, it was as if she had torn out a piece of meat.

In the water mist, he held up her face and wiped the tears in the corners of her eyes with his slightly rough fingertips.

She tilted her head and stubbornly said, “What are you doing, I didn’t cry.”

He didn’t like her disobedience and wanted to put in a few harsh words, but he looked at her messy appearance and swallowed the hurtful words he was about to say. “Why can’t you get along with yourself.” He sighed. “Ah Luo was upset and came to find trouble with you, you should just give in to her. You can now peacefully care for your World Tree thanks to her.”

“Thanks to her?” Xia Yingluo looked up. Her voice was sharp and she looked bleak. “In your eyes, should I always bow down to her?”

Wei Lingnan frowned slightly. “She is the Queen.”

She pushed him away, pulling her body off his chest and reaching for the cold bathtub wall. “Go.”

“Yingluo!” He frowned again, inadvertently calling out her name. This was the first time he called her Yingluo after finding out that the Queen was Gu Jinxiu. It wasn’t the normal Xia Yingluo, nor the unfamiliar Ms. Xia, but a natural-sounding Yingluo, as if he had called her a thousand times in his dreams.

Her heart trembled and she turned her face fiercely. “Go!”

So what if he stayed? Would he continue to persuade her not to disobey Gu Jinxiu? Even if she understood that he was obstructing her because of her “queen” status, she still couldn’t stand it. Since when did he wrong her because of others?

Wei Lingnan looked at her.

Her body was still very thin. She had just drunk so much blood, but the energy conversion rate wasn’t high. At this time, her skin was still pale, and her cyan blood vessels could still be seen under her translucent complexion. He was worried, how could such a weak body give birth to the World Tree? But it was useless to be concerned now. He stared at her for a long time and saw that she wasn’t willing to bother with him anymore, so he slowly got up and left.

He only remembered something when he was halfway gone—

He seemed to have forgotten something?

When he first came here, in addition to giving her emergency energy, he also planned to grill her for her crimes. How could she just offend the Queen? She had to pay for it! However, after seeing how frail and desolate she was, all thoughts of punishment were left behind.

Wei Lingnan frowned even more. What happened to him?

He went back to the underground base with a troubled heart.

There was a light in the base’s secret rest area, and Gu Jinxiu stood in a brightly lit area waiting for him.

“Where have you been?” When she saw him coming back, she forced herself to speak calmly, but her trembling voice exposed her inner agitation.

Wei Lingnan paused. He didn’t expect Gu Jinxiu to be here so late. Wasn’t she resting already? Looking at her interrogative attitude, he could probably guess what she was awake for. However, his long-term loyalty to the Queen prevented him from concealing it from her. “I went to see Xia Yingluo and I gave her some energy.”

“You gave her energy?” Gu Jinxiu’s voice shook even more, be it from rage or agitation. “Look at your state! Did you feed her your blood directly? Why don’t you worry more about yourself? What if you can’t hold it after losing so much blood?”

She walked towards him, her smoky-blue knitted embroidered dress spreading out like moonlight. She looked up and reached out to stroke his slightly sunken cheek. “Nan, I won’t let you lose your life for that woman!”
