A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 14: She’s stubborn
Lara stepped out and walked away. She was uncomfortable. How can Curtis Rodney be the father of her unborn baby, of all the men in Michigan, why does it have to be him?
Her mood was soiled. How can she go ahead and submit her proposals in such a distorted mood? Oh gosh, why does she have to encounter this man again.
Curtis Rodney couldn’t believe his ears. There are women who are crushing over him. Many wish that he would spare them a glance and some just a wave of hand and yet there is someone like this crazy woman who detest the sight of him.
Doesn’t she know his net worth, nor what she stands to gain as his baby mama? Does she know how many women would envy her and desire to be in her shoes as his baby mama?
Even if they do art ways after the baby is born, being the mother of his heir, does she understand the prestige and benefits that comes with it and her ability to have access to him and their child?
And the stupid thing she could say is that she doesn’t mind going for an abortion. How can she think within that line, how can she contemplate it?
And no matter what, he isn’t going to turn his back on his growing seed. That child in her belly is his and her womb is just the soil where it grows.
How can he abandon his own child from as early as he was just a pea size simply because its mother is an idiot.
When Lazarus stepped back into the car, he could perceive the heat of the conversation that had ensued between his boss and that crazy woman.
From the way she stepped out and walked away briskly, not pausing to take a taxi again, but she walked away going along the street.
"She is stubborn, Lazarus. That woman is going to send me crazy" Curtis blurted. He isn’t going to allow that woman to make him a psychopath and he cannot leave his unborn child with her and walk away either.
"It’s gradual boss. We’ll keep coming to see her. Doesn’t she want to accept you as the father of her unborn baby?" Lazarus asked.
"More than that, she hates it that the seed growing in her belly was from me and she prefers an abortion than having me related to that child when it’s born," Curtis sneered.
"What?" Lazarus blurted out. What the heck is wrong with this woman?
Lara got back into her apartment and slammed her bag in the tiny bed. What the heck is going on with her life these past few weeks?
She had metamorphosed from one challenging encounter to the other. Betrayal, divorce, loss of a loved one but none of it was suffocating like the one she just discovered now.
In the midst of all that has happened, she’d only found happiness and peace in her unborn baby. It gave her a hope and a reason to live and in the mood of that excitement, this rich dude confronted her again?
How can she ever envisage this? That Curtis Rodney would come over to her and tell her he’s the father of that baby in her belly?
There’s no way that is ever going to happen. She picked her choice of sperm from the sperm bank. Whoever produces it, doesn’t matter to her at that moment.
All she’d saved was gone into having the artificial insemination done. She’s gone bankrupt and her only hope and happiness hinged on this baby. It’s given her a reason to embrace living again.
"You’re mine baby, exclusively mine" Lara stuttered, caressing her belly. This baby is hers. Her baby is not related to that fellow. He might be wealthy and has a name in the entire Michigan and its environs, but he has no claim over her child!
It was almost time for lunch, Dr JJ called her and she requested that the address be sent to her. But JJ Smart insisted that she would drive over to her place and pick her up.
Lara agreed and a few minutes later, a BMW stopped by her apartment and she hopped in. She saw the older woman behind the wheel, she glanced at her with a smile but it was a weak smile.
Lara wasn’t in a good frame of mind as well. It appeared both of them are not happy but logically speaking the reason for it was pointing in the same direction.
In the CEO’s office of the millennium entertainment world, Curtis Rodney was going through a file containing Lara Edmund’s life summarized in a black and white paper.
She’s the only daughter of her parents Mr and Mrs Felix Edmund. An orphan, a divorcee and recently lost her grandmother and is pregnant by an artificial insemination.
She’s bankrupt and lost her only possession left by her grandmother to the mortgage company. She’s currently jobless and yet, expecting a baby.
"Fuck! Damn it!" He scowled. How can such a woman with such a low life profile carry his baby in her womb? She’s even jobless and yet wants to exclusively own his child?
He has enough to take care of that child from infancy until it’s old age without blinking an eye and yet she wants to raise him alone in her jobless poverty state?
"Find out why she got divorced with Mike Blake" Curtis Rodney requested. She must have been a characterless woman to have left her marriage within two years of union and goes about getting an insemination to be a mother.
He has meticulously planned to have his seed carried by a virtuous woman. Not necessarily a virgin but a woman that has a noble background, beautiful and courteous.
But here is where fate had landed him. And he cannot abandon his child long before it was born. He would follow up, somehow, he must get close to him before he would be born.
The two women settled down for lunch and soon it was over. Dr JJ was not happy. For many years now, she hasn’t been this free to have lunch with people, not even her husband and kids.
She might be available for dinner but definitely not lunch. Her life as a gynaecologist in one of the biggest hospitals in Michigan has restricted her from that.
But that day, she’s free to have lunch with one of her patients. It’s hard to say but she doesn’t know if she might get her job and certification back. It all depends on her, only Lara can salvage the situation.
"I’m sorry that I have to call you out for lunch without a long notice. It’s not usually my nature to do that but things have happened so quick and unpredictable that I had no proper time to salvage the situation..."Dr JJ began.
She paused and waited for Lara to say something but she didn’t. She remained quiet and calm. She sighed softly and continued.
"I told you some time ago that my job was at stake and my practicing license might get revoked because something went wrong that ha
s to do with the CEO..." she was still saying it when Lara interrupted her.
