Abyss Descension: I Perform Rituals to Evolve In The Apocalyps-Chapter 11: The Mystical Monocle
Chapter 11: The Mystical Monocle
Humans from Earth had been pulled into the Abyss!
Kev found out about it from the knowledge transferred to his mind.
He opened the box.
A monocle rested inside.
He picked it up, dusted it, and carefully wore it.
His eyesight didn't improve. His vision wasn't miraculously enhanced. The monocle served a far different purpose than physical enchantment.
As per his memories, it could be used to divulge a secret about his target, but it came with a price. It was his memory.
Kev didn't find the price hefty. He had lived for 18 years and made countless memories. Exchanging a moment of his life for a secret that could help him survive in the abyss didn't like a bad trade.
Its usage was a bit complicated, but the memories he'd received were quite detailed. He understood how to use it perfectly.
With the monocle still on, he looked towards the corpse below the platform.
Immediately, an unfamiliar memory surged into his mind. Its appearance caused him no discomfort, and he easily absorbed it.
Kev didn't look away from the corpse.
Five seconds later, that memory permenantantly faded from his mind, replaced by another.
He forgot the fact that the iron-clad giant was from the six arms tribe. He just realized it was a slave. Its master was a being called Dakun.
He didn't find this secret useful. He wanted it to replaced by another secret. To do that, he just needed to keep his eyes on the target and wait for five seconds.
Looking away from the target meant accepting the secret it had divulged, which would then give it the right to take away one of his memories.
It was basically a double edged sword.
Five seconds later, he forgot what he had just learned about the giant. Then, he learned something new.
<40 years old>
What use would knowing its age be?
Five seconds later, the memory of it being 40 years old in Kev's mind was swapped away with another secret.
The secrets divulged by the monocle kept on changing as he didn't look away.
Finally, a lengthy memory unfolded in his mind.
Kev immediately looked away from the corpse.

He didn't think a better and more detailed secret about the iron-bound slave could be divulged to him by the monocle of the Dark King again in a short time, and he didn't want to give up on this chance of knowing so much about it. What if this opportunity never came again?
This memory became his permanently. Then, he paid a price and forgot something.
"This monocle is really cool. I learned so much in under a minute because of it."
Kev took the monocle off and put it in his most secure pocket.
He didn't want to lose it.
It was too damn precious.
He got off the platform and went toward the hole in the wall with a grim look on his face.
The Abyss was a godforsaken place.
Being turned into a killing machine by the red-horned race was just one among many dangers of this place.
He had to be proactive and rapidly grow stronger if he wanted to survive in this hellhole.
"It's time to explore this underground hell."
