Abyss Sequence-Chapter 431 - 6: Power
Crack!
Yan Luo raised the shattered mouth of the Mountain Cat and stepped out from the massive carcass.
Using the Mountain Cat’s own thunder couldn’t kill it, but the lightning Yan Luo hurled managed to make it pause, granting Yan Luo the opportunity to strike.
Yan Luo then charged forward, swung his fist, and shattered the Mountain Cat’s head, completely ending the life of this Catastrophe Level Demon.
Even for Yan Luo, a Magnetic Field warrior, losing one’s head meant death, let alone a Catastrophe Level Demon.
Yan Luo could never have imagined before that he could fight a Catastrophe Level Demon with almost no resistance.
—Even the Mountain Cat’s counterattacks couldn’t be considered defense, as they didn’t harm Yan Luo in the slightest.
"Such powerful destructive force..."
At the center of the battlefield between Yan Luo and the Mountain Cat, trees within a kilometer radius had all fallen, the aftermath of the battle pushing soil three kilometers away, leaving a layer of dust on trees near where the armored vehicle was parked.
Sasa had the armored vehicle automatically drive towards Yan Luo’s location.
Yan Luo stood in the deep pit, using Magnetic Field powers to disassemble the Mountain Cat’s corpse.
After cutting out the skin, muscle, and bones, Yan Luo immediately investigated the Mountain Cat’s spine.
Though there were cracks on the vertebrae, it didn’t affect Yan Luo’s examination; he could distinguish between cracks caused by his blows and cavities from parasites.
The armored vehicle, despite its bumpy ride, safely arrived beside Yan Luo without falling into any pits.
Sasa and Julia simultaneously jumped out of the vehicle, watching Yan Luo examine the large, long spinal bone.
From the skull’s rear to the tail, there were no cavities inside the Mountain Cat’s spinal bone from parasites.
As Yan Luo had suspected, Catastrophe Level Demons could avoid infestation by parasites.
This was somewhat of good news.
Julia visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
Gass City was concerned that even Level Five Demons might be controlled; as long as Demons above this level were not controlled, there wouldn’t be much concern about ’Demon disturbances.’
Yan Luo then set up a bonfire, slicing the Mountain Cat’s flesh into thin slices to roast over the fire.
The remaining parts were stored in the Space Box, whether for Sasa’s experiments or direct sale, it was fine.
Sasa and Julia couldn’t eat the meat, but they could drink the soup.
Yan Luo retrieved a pressure cooker from the Space Box specifically meant for kitchenware, placing some of the Mountain Cat’s meat and bones inside, adding some condiments like mushrooms and goji berries, and began cooking on high heat.
When the roasted meat was ready, Sasa and Julia could only watch Yan Luo eat, as although there was dry and convenient food in the vehicle, they longed for the roast meat slices Yan Luo was eating.
Unfortunately, they lacked the ability to consume Catastrophe Level Demon flesh.
Fortunately, Yan Luo also made soup.
After the pressure cooker had steamed for dozens of minutes, Yan Luo finally opened it to inspect.
As the lid lifted, a burst of steam puff towards Yan Luo’s face, but he didn’t flinch as the heat couldn’t injure even his eyes, not to mention the layer of self-sustaining Magnetic Field power over him.
The aroma mixed with the steam was captured by Yan Luo’s sense of smell, and with a deep inhale, he took out a bowl and ladle, serving both Sasa and Julia a bowl of soup.
Taking the soup, Sasa and Julia originally didn’t envy Yan Luo for having roast meat, but when they saw him fetch a bone from the pot, snap it, and begin sucking the marrow, the soup suddenly lost its appeal—they too wanted to eat marrow!
However, even though cooked marrow from a Catastrophe Level Demon seemed no different from other marrow, they still couldn’t consume it.
Their regular digestive systems simply couldn’t handle it.
Thus, Sasa and Julia could only watch Yan Luo eat lavishly, while they held bowls of soup with unsure nutritional content.
Processing Demon flesh definitely caused the loss of nutrients and Magic Power.
Unlike roast meat, where nutrients and Magic Power dissipate into the air, the soup’s Magic Power and nutrients mostly seep into the broth.
Sasa and Julia blew on their soup bowls, and once it felt drinkable, cautiously took a sip.
The word ’delicious’ erupted directly from the tip of their tongues, swiftly racing along their neural networks up to their brains, which controlled their facial muscles, making both Sasa and Julia show astonished expressions.
Clearly Yan Luo hadn’t used any secret seasonings, the condiments were average, yet why was it so tasty?
Though the soup remained hot, enough to burn their tongues, the two women braved the temperature, steadily sipping the entire broth.
After eating and drinking their fill, the group set off again.
Yama ventured into the depths of the Gass Forest primarily to consume Demons, enhancing himself, while investigating the Demon disturbances in the forest was a side quest, now finding that Catastrophe Level Demons weren’t parasitized counted as a phase result.
Therefore, on their continuing journey, Yan Luo no longer captured Demons to study if parasites were present inside them.
Even if encountering a City-breaking Level Demon, Yan Luo wasn’t eager to disembark and fight, since he was currently full, unable to consume another City-breaking Level Demon. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Yan Luo didn’t plan to seek trouble, but trouble came finding him.
While Yan Luo was aimlessly driving deep within the forest, he encountered a troop assembled from various Demons.
The pack included both carnivorous and herbivorous Demons, clearly indicating they were under control.
Upon noticing the armored vehicle, the Demons immediately charged towards it.
Seeing this, Sasa promptly took notes: [Demons controlled by parasites are capable of suppressing their instincts, attacking us despite sensing Yan Luo’s presence.]
Julia climbed onto the machine gun seat, operating the roof gun, showering bullets on the charging Demons.
The Demons’ capabilities were uneven, ranging from ordinary to City-breaking level, needing at least a medium-sized warband to deal with them.
A medium-sized warband generally contains at least one Sequence Three Hunter while most members’ strength lies between Sequence Five and the entrance of Sequence Four.
Helena’s Red Rose Warband technically qualifies as a large warband, most ordinary members are Sequence Four, besides Helena herself, the team also includes two Sequence Three members, though they possess only four Engravings.
Fighting the Demon group in front, Yan Luo alone was enough, but noticing Julia seemed quite happy, he refrained from engaging, instead turning the vehicle around, employing a train-dragging tactic.
Ordinary Demons were either shot down by Julia’s machine gun or failed to keep up with the main force, falling behind, succeeded by some dangerous and lethal Demons not adept at moving.
The City-breaking Level Demons stayed relentless, clinging to the armored vehicle, persistently trailing behind.
Though Julia expended a whole ammo belt, she couldn’t kill a single City-breaking Level Demon.
Not that she was purposely spreading firepower evenly, but while one Demon was being suppressed, others would charge to attack the vehicle, forcing Julia to shift her targets to those threatening the vehicle.
Hence, not a single City-breaking Level Demon was defeated.
"Enjoyed it?"
Yan Luo smoothly drove, casually asking.
Depleting an ammo belt indeed felt great, Julia nodded to Yan Luo, "Enjoyed it."
"That’s good then."
Yan Luo handed over control of the armored vehicle to the onboard terminal, personally opening the car door, stepping outside.
The armored vehicle swiftly left Yan Luo alone, facing several City-breaking Level Demons.
Once, Yan Luo might have been afraid.
Since gaining the ability to contend with City-breaking Level Demons, even confronting multiple simultaneously didn’t worry him anymore.
Hunters possess strength exceeding same-level Demons, as Demons lack mental strategy, unfamiliar with leverage principles, and failing to use the environment to their advantage.
Thus, after Yan Luo’s power approached that of a Sequence Three Engraver, even amidst a Demon siege, he was confident in letting them fight amongst themselves first, then battling the victor, easily resolving what seemed a significant problem.
Now, Yan Luo’s capability reached the extreme of Catastrophe Level.
Facing the City-breaking Level Demons, watching the dust rise under their stomping, Yan Luo squinted, retreated half a step with his right foot, grounding in a virtual horse stance.
His right fist at the waist, waiting for the City-breaking Level Demons’ charge, then delivered a punch.
Instantaneously, the sound of galloping ceased abruptly, replaced by the roaring blast as the air shattered.
With this sole punch, one City-breaking Level Demon exploded, incidentally sending others flying.
