Abyss Sequence-Chapter 464 - 39: The Saint’s Commission
Julia couldn’t keep up with Yan Luo’s pace, and before she could follow, she was intercepted by Helena, whom Sasa had called for help.
Helena was a Sequence Three Engraver, while Julia’s strength was only equivalent to Sequence Four, making her no match for Helena.
Even if she managed to follow, Yan Luo would easily lose her.
Currently, the power gap between Julia and Yan Luo was too vast, making it impossible for her to keep up with him.
Just before entering the Abyss, Yan Luo received a coordinate from Sasa. The coordinate corresponded to a space outside Gass City. If a spatial portal was opened there, he could directly reach Gass City.
After entering the Crimson Abyss, Yan Luo headed towards the coordinate provided by Sasa. He quickly reached his target location and then took out a jade talisman to open the spatial portal.
The other side of the portal was indeed Gass City. Although Yan Luo couldn’t see the city, he could sense the faint aura emanating from the barrier.
Taking a glance toward Gass City, Yan Luo turned and walked away.
This time, his goal in Alfheim wasn’t Gass City; he was going to find Fuer Hongfeng.
Using Gass City as the starting point, Yan Luo quickly flew towards the peak where Fuer resided.
His power had grown considerably compared to before, and his flying speed had increased, allowing him to reach the mountain peak in a shorter time than last time.
Yan Luo walked towards the mountain top, stepping on the footprints he left last time. This time, his pace was much slower than before.
Previously, he was in a hurry during his visit; this time, he wasn’t, so naturally, he walked more leisurely.
Relying solely on physical strength, Yan Luo could walk on the mountain wall vertically aligned with the ground.
He easily reached the mountain top, and as soon as he reached the summit, he heard a helpless sigh, "You’re here again?"
Fuer appeared in front of Yan Luo, shaking his head, "I already know about the demons’ ability to ’mark.’ What are you doing here?"
"What mark?" Yan Luo was puzzled.
He was unaware of these matters, but from Fuer’s words, he could deduce that humans, likely Sasa or Ms. Bilukova, informed Fuer about this.
Fuer paused, then smiled and slightly explained to Yan Luo.
Yan Luo frowned, "So, are you saying that the parasitic incident could be the demons’ doing?"
"You could say that," Fuer nodded, "but I don’t really know if it is, because recently I’ve been unable to leave this place. This mountain is a vital node for suppressing Alfheim’s Magic Power. If the node is destroyed, the Evil God might be birthed in an instant. Selene—another Saint you haven’t met—and I each guard one node, so I’ve left the investigation to other Elves."
Does that mean currently both Saints can’t leave the nodes they’re guarding?
After a moment of thought, Yan Luo asked, "When can the Evil God of Alfheim be birthed?"
Fuer smiled and asked, "Do you want to see?"
Yan Luo had no intention of hiding his thoughts and nodded, "Alfheim’s experience would help Blue Star to deal with our own future Evil God, so I want to observe the process of Alfheim giving birth to an Evil God."
Upon hearing this, Fuer fell into silence.
He had never encountered someone as candid as Yan Luo; even the Elves wouldn’t describe their intentions with such straightforward words.
The Saint of Blue Star’s generation is extraordinary.
"... If we wanted, the Evil God could be birthed immediately."
Fuer stomped the ground, glancing at it. "Selene and I are suppressing the Magic Power of Alfheim. Once the suppression is lifted, the Evil God will be born."
The contact duration between Alfheim and Magic Power has been too long, and the Elves have relied on Magic Power for longevity.
According to the birth pattern of an Evil God, Alfheim’s Evil God should have been birthed already, but the Elven Saints used certain methods to delay the birth of the Evil God.
However, the Evil God will inevitably be birthed. All they can do is delay it.
After hearing Fuer’s words, Yan Luo felt confused and asked, "Then why don’t you allow the Evil God to be immediately birthed? With the current situation’s development, wouldn’t the Elves’ mindset be heavily impacted?"
Fuer smiled slightly and nodded, "The mindset would indeed be affected. However, based on Selene and my observations, the relations among Alfheim’s cities are too indifferent now. If the Evil God is birthed now, we might not get a positive Evil God, but one that should be named ’Indifference’ or ’Hostility.’ The demons’ attack on Alfheim came at the right time; we can use this opportunity to let Alfheim’s elves once again form a consensus about their race."
Yan Luo’s expression turned serious.
He looked at Fuer, who was smiling, and frowned slightly.
Honestly, he now strongly suspected that the parasitic incident was actually orchestrated by Fuer to unite the various Elven cities.
Having a common enemy can awaken the racial consciousness within Elves, making them realize that the Elves from other cities are actually their kin.
Previously, Yan Luo noticed some indifference issues among the Elven cities. He initially thought the two Saints, being ’in the midst of it,’ were unaware of this matter, not expecting them to understand it clearly from the beginning.
Realizing the issue, they would surely try to solve it, and creating an enemy is the easiest way to reunite the Elves.
If there’s no enemy, then create one!
Otherwise, why would the demons invade Alfheim just when the Evil God was about to be birthed, not at any other time?
Yan Luo’s expression changed noticeably. He thought Fuer should have discerned what he was thinking, yet Fuer remained silent.
After a moment of contemplation, Yan Luo asked again, "Is there anything you need me to do? I’d like to help."
Fuer’s lips curled up, "You want to help us? Just as well, I indeed have something I need you to do."
Yan Luo nodded, "Go on."
Fuer restrained his smile and said solemnly, "Recently, an Elf at the academy seems to be researching demonic knowledge, and their status is extraordinary, being my descendant. I need you to investigate, and if they’re indeed doing this, I want you to kill them."
This task was best entrusted to Yan Luo because he’s human. Even if he kills a Saint’s descendant, it wouldn’t matter to him if the Elves ostracize him.
Yan Luo agreed, "Okay, what’s their name?"
"Laiden Hongfeng," Fuer said softly, "my direct descendant, possibly my great-grandchild by lineage."
As he spoke, Fuer pointed in a direction for Yan Luo.
"Over there is the academy. Just head that way. When you see a city floating in the air, that’s it."
The academy is actually a Floating City?
Yan Luo felt a bit surprised, but it was expected.
With Alfheim’s technology, creating a Floating City was indeed possible, and the academy is one of Alfheim’s important cities, being the most advanced place for various arts and technologies in Alfheim, so it’s not unusual to create a Floating City.
After saying goodbye to Fuer, Yan Luo walked to the cliff and leaped off, manipulating magnetic field power in the air, flying towards the direction Fuer pointed out.
Fuer watched Yan Luo leave, gazing at his increasingly diminutive figure. He sighed, turned around, and went back into his simple house.
What he didn’t tell Yan Luo was that Laiden was his only descendant now, which is why the other Elves dare not act rashly.
If he had other descendants, the other Elves wouldn’t care about Laiden’s identity.
Sending Yan Luo to investigate Laiden could in some ways harm Yan Luo, possibly making him disliked and ostracized by other Elves.
But if Laiden indeed researched demonic knowledge, only Yan Luo was capable of killing him.
Considering Laiden was the only Elf of the Hongfeng lineage, even if other Elves knew he researched demonic knowledge, they couldn’t kill him.
For now, Fuer could only hope Yan Luo wouldn’t hesitate to kill Laiden if he discovered the truth about the demonic research.
Fuer wasn’t indifferent to his descendant; he just clearly understood the implications of the ’demon’ for Alfheim.
Anything related to demons must be eliminated at all costs!
