Abyss Sequence-Chapter 472 - 47: Knocked Unconscious
The target being pursued turned around to flee, and the elf he was chatting with was momentarily stunned.
However, Yan Luo took a single step and immediately appeared behind the fleeing elf, extending his large hand to grasp its relatively slender neck.
"What exactly are you?" Yan Luo asked.
The elf grabbed by the neck looked angry and retaliated by casting a lightning spell on Yan Luo.
The arc of electricity landed on Yan Luo’s robust chest muscles, not even leaving a black mark.
This scene left the captured elf dumbfounded, unable to comprehend what had occurred.
Some smarter elves quickly realized what was happening and became wary of the elf grabbed by Yan Luo, swiftly distancing themselves from it.
They didn’t know where this tall human came from, but he arrived from the direction of the explosion, and he tracked a footprint to this spot, capturing this elf.
The captured elf tried to escape without a word, and after being caught, retaliated directly against the human. The magic was quite powerful; anyone with a sensible mind could infer that this captured elf was hiding something.
"Was he the one who caused the explosion?" an elf beside him asked Yan Luo.
Yan Luo glanced over and replied, "I followed a footprint here, targeting him; I think he’s suspicious."
Elves have long lifespans; anyone living in the same city would eventually recognize one another over time.
Among the surrounding elves, there were those familiar with the one captured by Yan Luo, and one questioned sharply, "Valk, why did you do that?"
Valk did not answer. Realizing he couldn’t break free from Yan Luo’s grip, he immediately activated a magic spell and committed suicide.
A flame shot from Valk’s mouth, swiftly burning through his eyeballs and facial skin. The body that was just twitching softly slumped, limbs drooping toward the ground.
Yan Luo frowned, releasing his grip, allowing the corpse to drop and hit the ground.
Where did these guys get such a strong sense of conviction?
The fellow he caught earlier provoked him even in death, and now this one just committed suicide without any last words.
Typically, those with a strong sense of conviction would shout a slogan before death to reinforce their beliefs and avoid regret.
Judging from the attitudes displayed by the two individuals he’d captured, Yan Luo had an intuitive feeling that they might not actually be dead.
Indeed, since they could possess Layken and Valk, they could possess other elves too.
So, he hadn’t managed to kill the entities possessing Layken and Valk after all and let them escape?
At this thought, Yan Luo frowned.
Glancing at the surrounding elves, Yan Luo felt it impossible to identify which one among them was possessed or if the possessed elf wasn’t even among them, so he soared into the sky, scanning the city ground for the next target.
Soon, Yan Luo spotted two groups of elves battling in the distance and quickly flew toward them.
This time, he was smart. After landing, he immediately captured one of the elves fighting the guard unit, swiftly disabling its limbs and jaw, and called out to the guard unit, "Help seal this guy up. I caught one of their associates earlier, but he used some technique to commit suicide. No matter what sealing methods you have, just apply them to him."
The enemy engaged in battle with their unit was abruptly seized, and the guards were momentarily startled by Yan Luo’s words.
As they hesitated, the elf pinned on the ground by Yan Luo suddenly emitted flames from its seven apertures and committed suicide.
Yan Luo’s brow furrowed deeply.
Again!
These guys must be able to escape their bodies while preserving their souls; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to commit suicide so resolutely.
Boom!
A distant explosion drew the attention of Yan Luo and the others.
The guard unit quickly snapped back to reality, and their leader shouted, "Quick! Head toward the explosion site; at least rescue the injured elves!"
Before the words were fully uttered, Yan Luo’s figure had already transformed into a stream of light, racing toward the scene.
He arrived promptly at the explosion site, raised a hand, and utilized magnetic field power to lift the building debris.
The elves around the explosion site barely had a moment to be astonished before rushing into the ruins to extract the injured elves, but at that moment, they observed the injured still breathing elves being drawn out by an invisible force.
Yan Luo meticulously manipulated the magnetic field power to seal the wounds of the injured elves, both inside and out.
Although elves who have lost too much blood might still die despite their wounds being sealed if they don’t receive proper treatment, this was all Yan Luo could do. If these elves didn’t survive, it wasn’t his responsibility; it was due to the other elves’ failure to treat the injured properly.
With the experience from the last pursuit, Yan Luo acted briskly this time, quickly identifying the footprints of the explosion culprit and tracking them.
This time, his actions were swifter than before. Just as the suspect attempted to blend into the crowd, Yan Luo pulled him out from afar.
Bang!
Yan Luo slammed the suspect against a nearby wall, seized him by the neck, lifted him high, and sternly questioned, "Who are you?"
This suspect, unlike the other possessed ones, appeared more flamboyant. Hearing Yan Luo’s question, he smiled broadly, "You’ll never know; you’ll never find out who we are!"
With those words, the possessed attempted to ignite flames and set their body on fire.
But then he froze.
Yan Luo had learned from previous lessons, channeling magnetic field power into the possessed one’s body. No matter how quickly the magic was triggered, he could swiftly extinguish the flames.
The issue was that after capturing the suspect, Yan Luo had to keep him restrained, unable to let him leave his side. Otherwise, the possessed could reawaken the self-destruct spell in his body.
However, for Yan Luo, even if he needed one hand to control the possessed, his other hand was more than enough to fend off enemies.
Realizing he couldn’t commit suicide, the possessed struggled intensely, trying to escape from Yan Luo’s grasp.
But who was Yan Luo?
His current power in Alfheim was at the level of the Great Monarch; controlling a measly possessed one was a piece of cake.
The possessed one had to rely solely on the strength of its physical body. How could an elf’s physical power compare with that of a Saint? No matter how the possessed struggled, it couldn’t break free from Yan Luo’s hold.
Seizing the possessed one, Yan Luo shot into the sky, scanning the surroundings for his next target.
Soon, he spotted another battle occurring in the distance and flew over immediately.
This time, he was prepared. Even if there were two possessed battling the guard unit, he could easily step on one with a foot, grab a second with his other hand, and control both simultaneously.
Although doing so required focus on multiple fronts, Yan Luo managed to accomplish it.
After capturing three possessed, Yan Luo quickly explained his findings to the guard unit facing him and asked them to find ways to prevent the possessed from committing suicide, as he could then assist elsewhere. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Can’t we just knock them out?" a young elf in the guard unit suggested in confusion.
Yan Luo was momentarily taken aback.
He had been trying to extract information from the possessed and hadn’t thought of that.
Controlling the possessed was straightforward; just knock them out!
With a flick of his wrist, Yan Luo knocked out the possessed one he held in his right hand, then threw the unconscious possessed aside to observe the result.
Once unconscious, even the soul seemed to enter a dormant state as the possessed one tossed on the ground didn’t immediately trigger the self-destruct spell.
A tinge of regret flashed through Yan Luo’s mind; he should have thought of this sooner.
If he had realized this earlier, he could have captured more of the possessed, increasing his chances of extracting intelligence from them.
Taking a deep breath, Yan Luo knocked out the other two possessed ones in his grasp, then flew into the air, scanning the city.
It was uncertain if all the possessed had been caught or if they realized continuing made no sense because Yan Luo didn’t witness any new battles breaking out elsewhere.
Is it over?
