Chapter 194: 110 Windsor’s Departure_2

“Ming, I have lived in this country, always enjoying the protection my ancestors provided, living among the nobles, seldom stepping outside this city.

“Perhaps saying this makes me seem somewhat naive, but I have always been a part of this country.

“I used to think that this country was terrible, that most people lacked adequate material security; but I had also thought that everything was as it should be, that the class structure was long solidified, and I was merely lucky to enjoy the benefits of the upper class.

“Yet, Ming, she just died in front of me like that…”

Windsor covered her eyes, sobbing.

Yang Ming held her, gently patting her back, but didn’t say much.

He had no right to speak on this matter.

Yang Ming noticed two pairs of leather shoes appearing on the stairway ahead, as the Minister of Finance stood at the top, hesitating whether to come down.

A few minutes later, Windsor sighed softly, “Sorry, for letting you see me in such a messy state, I’m fine now.”

“Crying can make you feel better,” Yang Ming said softly.

“Yes, that’s right,” Windsor smiled, “I will remember her, she taught me a lot. Ming, if I have to leave you for a while, could you accept it?”

Yang Ming wondered, “Where are you going?”

“I want to study abroad in the New Federation.”

Windsor bit her lip, her expression somewhat anxious, but her eyes were clear and determined.

“I know, the New Federation is our enemy now, but their economic system is very advanced, many of their ideas are what we lack, I want to learn the structure of economic frameworks, which might help this country.

“I’ve looked up the examination situation and registration materials, I might have to go to the university there to take exams, and then spend three or four years pursuing a degree.”

She looked at Yang Ming, and said in a low voice, “Is that okay?”

“Windsor, it’s your life, you can decide for yourself, I can only offer my advice.”

Yang Ming felt a slight ripple in his heart.

It wasn’t because of Windsor leaving him that he felt reluctant.

They were in a romantic relationship, and breakups and reconciliations were normal; the time spent together was very pleasant.

What surprised Yang Ming was Windsor’s motive.

‘Maybe this can help this country.’

Yang Ming smiled, “Although the New Federation meddles in other countries’ affairs, internally, they are quite peaceful, with good order, your personal safety will be guaranteed while studying there.”

“Yes,” Windsor smiled, “But there aren’t any apparent nobles there, and I won’t have any privileges to enjoy.”

Yang Ming raised a hand to stroke her sleek long hair.

Windsor gazed at Yang Ming with deep affection, knowing that once she left his side, it was highly likely that he would shift his affections to another woman.

His energy was overwhelming.

“Will you remember me, Ming?”

Yang Ming nodded gently, his eyes locked on her glossy lips, slowly leaning towards them.

“Cough! Cough, cough!”

The Finance Minister’s timely cough echoed.

Windsor sprang to her feet as if propelled by springs in her legs.

Yang Ming rubbed his nose, turning to look at the middle-aged man descending the stairs with his hands clasped behind his back.

The Finance Minister exuded a scholarly air.

“Oh, Windsor, my daughter,” the minister sniffed, “You know, I can’t bear the thought of you being so far from me, but I will still write you a recommendation letter for my alma mater. You don’t need to worry about admission; I’m long-term friends with several renowned economics professors, I’ll handle everything for you.”

“Dad, did you agree?”

“Of course,” the Finance Minister shrugged, “My daughter wants to enrich her life, why would I stop you?”

Windsor cheered and hugged… Yang Ming.

This left the Finance Minister, who had been ready to open his arms, feeling slightly wronged.

Yang Ming said softly, “Windsor, go back to your room and rest, I have some political matters to discuss with your uncle.”

“Alright,” Windsor looked at the Finance Minister, “Dad, you won’t pressure Ming, right?”

“We will have a completely friendly conversation.”

The Finance Minister gave a slightly resigned smile.

Yang Ming had come to win him over for the Second Prince, and that, he knew full well.

That night, Yang Ming and Windsor still went to a hotel together.

Windsor didn’t ask what Yang Ming discussed with the Finance Minister, nor did Yang Ming ask Windsor when she planned to leave.

They lost themselves in each other, until Windsor, exhausted, fell asleep in Yang Ming’s arms.

Early the next morning, Windsor kissed Yang Ming softly on the forehead and left quietly.

Yang Ming slept for another half hour with his eyes closed before putting on a robe and sitting by the hotel’s floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the city outside.

She had left.

But the light of the Constant Star still illuminated the bustling, crowded city.

“Lyu, tell me,” Yang Ming asked softly, “Should I treat this country a bit better?”

Lyu’s voice came through the sound system built into the window-side bathtub, “Boss, if you can’t bear to let Miss Windsor go, you can certainly keep her.”

“She has her own choices,” Yang Ming said, “We’re just in a romantic relationship, not married; she wants to study in the New Federation, and believes it will benefit her life. All I can do is offer my blessings.”

Lyu chuckled, refraining from teasing his boss at this moment.

Yang Ming asked, “Did the Finance Minister go to Edwan?”

“He went last night,” Lyu murmured, “It’s indeed surprising; even someone as despicably charactered as the Third Prince once selflessly helped the young Finance Minister.”

“Nothing but crocodile tears.”

Yang Ming yawned,

“I hope the romance I shared with Windsor will leave some pleasant memories for her life. Remember to remove biological markers for me, as she’s about to go to the New Federation.”

Lyu complained, “Boss, you’re being really heartless.”

Yang Ming shrugged.

Life mattered.

“Boss, are we heading back to the Star Patrol Ship now?”

“There’s no rush today,” Yang Ming chuckled, “First, I need to see the Second Prince to prevent him from complaining about me neglecting him again.”

“With Gudun Mah’s influence continually growing, you should be wary of the Second Prince.”

“Yes, I know,” Yang Ming said softly, “As friends, we’ll speak honestly; as partners, we’ll keep things separate. Any developments from the New Federation?”

“There’s something unusual,” Lyu said quietly, “I’m trying to figure out their intentions, they seem to be assembling a team of agents and some mercenary forces.”

Yang Ming smiled, “In certain ways, the hypocritical Federation is more troublesome than Po Suo.”

Buzz, buzz.

The watch suddenly vibrated, and a message from General Fremont was projected in front of Yang Ming by Lyu.

“Boss, the Old Emperor wants you to secretly enter the palace.”

Secretly enter the palace?

Yang Ming thought for a moment, then asked quietly, “Do you think our great Intelligent Mechanic Emperor might secretly instruct me to find a chance to eliminate Gudun Mah?”

“Not likely, boss, Gudun Mah is seen as Edwan’s partner in the Old Emperor’s eyes.”

“But Gudun Mah is not his partner.”

Yang Ming stretched lazily.

Entering the palace to meet the emperor.

Let’s see what new tricks this old Intelligent Machine has in store for him.
