Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 229: Feeling Wronged for Him
"I was wrong, Zane, I’m sorry..."
Sophia nudged him, that overwhelming guilt still tightly entangled her, making it impossible for her to forgive herself, to face him.
Zane seemed to sense something, he slowly released his grip, cupped the woman’s cheeks in his hands, forcing her to look at him.
"Do you trust me?" He frowned, his eyes seemed to glimmer, though he was afraid it was just his illusion.
His question carried an undertone of inquiry.
"I should trust you." Sophia.
Her reddened eyes continued to spill crystal tears.
Sophia always regarded herself as someone who could control her emotions well, but with Zane, she seemed to become nothing.
A small incident was enough to keep her distracted all day.
Zane bent down, nibbled at the corner of her lips, pinched her cheek, and his frown in the center of his brow unknowingly relaxed.
"It’s not your fault. It’s my lack of diligence, it’s me who made you sad. You’re not wrong." He kissed the corner of her eye.
With their foreheads touching, eyes closed, he gently nuzzled against her.
It took Sophia a long time to calm down. She reached out to hold Zane’s large hand, just one glance after stepping behind him, and Zane turned back around.
"Let me see." Her voice still choked with sobs.
"There’s nothing to see." Zane brushed away the tear marks from the corner of her eye.
"It must hurt..."
Tears welled up from the bottom of her eyes, blended with her heartache.
The last time he got injured was probably at the party when the waiter bumped into him, causing him to endure so much. Now the old wound had not healed, and new ones were added.
"It doesn’t hurt." Zane couldn’t bear her tears and pulled her into his arms again, "Sweetheart, it doesn’t hurt at all."
How could it not hurt, it was just that it hurt even more in his heart at the time. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
But now, with her in his embrace, he felt like it was nothing.
"Stop crying, if you keep crying, the baby will laugh at you." Zane pinched her waist.
Only then did Sophia stop her tears.
"I’ll help you with the medicine," she said.
"No."
Zane’s eyes were steady; if he hadn’t wanted to keep her from knowing about his injury, he wouldn’t have left the yard earlier.
He said, "Scars are ugly. If you look at them for too long, you’ll turn ugly. Wait until I’ve changed the dressing, my face is handsome."
"... Who praises themselves like that?"
"Wait outside, there are professional doctors here, it will heal faster. If you care about me, I haven’t eaten anything for lunch." Zane looked pitiful.
After being aggrieved for so many days, he finally found the opportunity to act a little spoiled.
Sophia looked at him, his slightly green stubble covering his chin, unkempt hair hanging over his brow; no matter how hard she tried, he looked like a rough man, yet he spoke like this.
"I was planning to cheer you up, will you give me some face?" she asked cautiously.
"We’ll see how you do," Zane curved his lips, pinching her side waist.
Sophia trembled, having not been intimate with him for so long, even a small action now could make her legs weak.
"What do you want to do?"
"Kiss me, kiss me and I’ll forgive you." His request wasn’t high.
For Zane, he hadn’t tasted this woman’s flavor for a long time and had almost forgotten what it felt like.
Sophia blushed furiously.
"There are still people outside."
"Don’t worry, they aren’t that nosy."
"..."
Whether nosy or not isn’t certain, but now there was another ear of Ansel Gallagher at the door.
Without waiting for her response, Zane gently picked her up. Sophia, frightened, clasped her hands tightly around his neck, her legs entwined at his side waist, afraid of hurting his wound, and afraid his feet couldn’t bear it.
"Put me down!" Her cheeks burning hot,
Zane turned and sat down on the bed, his hands grasping her waist.
"Indulge me today and I’ll let you go," his voice was deeply low.
The tone sounded like seeking comfort and also like a punishment for Sophia.
Sophia unexpectedly kissed him at the corner of his lips, then moved away.
"This is too outrageous, have you forgotten what you were taught?" Zane laughed, watching her small face flush pink, "Want to learn again?"
Hearing that, Sophia cupped his face, pressed her lips against his.
Zane responded to her without hesitation.
He was fierce as could be, Sophia felt both their teeth clashing together.
"Tell me, how did you later find out it wasn’t me who did it?" He bit at the corner of her mouth, the words spilling out at the edge of his mouth.
"..." Sophia was kissed by him off-guard, probably because it had been so long since they’d been close, now she felt electrified at any touch.
She answered intermittently, "Tim Sawyer, she sent me a message...uh, I felt she had...secrets..."
A soft warmth spread on the back of her neck.
"Did she come to you today?" Zane reached over and unwrapped the ribbon from her shoulder.
"Mm-hmm, she was in a panic..." Sophia watched as his forehead rested against her shoulder without moving.
Zane stared intently at her chest.
"..."
Sophia hastily pulled up her clothes.
She didn’t bring a jacket today; if any marks were left, she’d probably be laughed at once she went out.
She looked at herself seriously, luckily, he was restrained and didn’t go too far.
Sophia got up, stood aside, tidied up her outfit.
Zane smiled, holding her hand, gently rubbing it, his eyes still filled with lingering desire.
"It’s a good thing you’re smart. If the misunderstanding continued, I’d have to jump into The Yarro River to clear it."
"..." Sophia felt a pang of guilt, "I’m sorry."
Zane quickly shut his mouth, he shouldn’t upset her by bringing these things up again, "I’m hungry."
Sophia nodded, "Then I’ll make you something..."
She noticed the kitchen, apparent signs of use; she could even imagine Zane trying out recipes for her there.
Zane stopped her from thinking further, "Ordering takeout is fine, don’t trouble yourself."
"Okay." She was also a little tired.
"Wash your face before going out." Zane gestured with his chin, his gaze fell on the bathroom door.
Sophia obediently walked over.
Walking into the bathroom, she noticed some of Zane’s daily necessities neatly arranged on the shelf.
He had probably been staying here during this time.
Sophia couldn’t help feeling sorry for him.
Also hating herself for being so stupid at such a time, foolishly believing online slander, causing Zane so much grievance.
She grieved silently, lowering her eyelids.
At this moment, her feelings for him seemed to have transcended the boundary of love.
It felt like it had turned into dependence.
She composed herself a bit, noticing a faint mark by her ear.
"..."
No wonder he had her wash her face before going out, this...
Enough to make one angry!
How was she going to face people later!
Nathan Jennings had said that rumors about her domestic abuse toward Zane were spreading around the company like wildfire, if she went out and was seen by someone with ill intent, no one would believe it was left there by their boss.
What would that make her?
She gathered her hair to the front of her chest to barely be able to face people.
Just as she stepped out the door, she saw Zane giving a low chuckle.
"Well, I’m going out now." Sophia’s face flushed red.
"Mm." He fixed his gaze on her, a smile tugging at his mouth.
Sophia opened the door, nearly tripping Cecilia Wallace and Ansel Gallagher, who were nearly tumbling in.
"Sis-in-law."
"Ma’am."
"..."
The wall corner, they’ve probably heard everything by now.
