Chapter 283: Chapter 283: A Thorough Beating

Banquet.

When Zane Thorne entered with Natalie Vaughn, everyone stopped talking and looked toward the entrance.

In the racing circle, Zane Thorne was well-known by everyone.

From being a racer to a club owner to a leader of GN Group, Zane Thorne excelled in every role.

The first one to approach was still Miles Rhodes.

Even though their last conversation was unpleasant, it didn’t affect their relationship.

Miles Rhodes first nodded to Natalie Vaughn, then looked at Zane Thorne.

"The main organizers of the race association and some investors are over there. They heard you were coming and have been waiting."

Zane Thorne’s expression slightly darkened, lost in thought.

Natalie Vaughn gently patted his hand.

"You go ahead, I’ll be fine on my own for a bit."

Zane frowned, reluctant to leave Natalie alone, while Miles urged him on.

"They’re all waiting."

Knowing it was useless to persuade Zane, Miles looked at Natalie.

"Natalie, see how stubborn this guy is?"

Natalie noticed Miles’ expression and figured those people must be important. Meeting them could be beneficial for Zane.

"Don’t worry about me. I won’t let what happened last time happen again."

Last time, during a banquet, Natalie fell for Serena Blackwood’s trick. Afterwards, even though Zane never mentioned it, Natalie could feel Zane felt guilty over the incident with Serena Blackwood.

Seeing Zane unmoved, Natalie pointed to a spot.

"I’ll stay right there, alright?"

Miles urged again.

"Hurry up, they’re all waiting." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Finally, Zane relented.

"Wait for me there, I’ll be quick. Don’t go wandering."

Natalie nodded quickly, and Zane followed Miles over.

This banquet wasn’t much different from those back in Cinnabar, just another business occasion. The difference was that Natalie knew no one here.

Natalie sat on the sofa, munching on desserts, occasionally sipping wine. Her alcohol tolerance was still low, and she dared not overindulge.

She entered with Zane. At the banquet, everyone knew him and sought to connect with him.

Shortly after Natalie sat down, someone approached with a drink.

They didn’t know about Zane’s marriage. Zane had never brought a female companion before, and now he not only had one but also a very beautiful woman from Cinnabar. It was easy to guess their relationship wasn’t simple.

Natalie brushed them off with a few words, signaling she wasn’t interested in further conversation.

Until the arrival of a particular person changed Natalie’s demeanor.

It was Danny, who had come after an arm injury from Zane. He was still accompanied by the same woman.

Natalie hadn’t even thought of getting back at him when Danny noticed her. Seeing Zane wasn’t with her, he approached immediately.

Natalie smiled at him.

"Your name is Danny?"

Danny looked puzzled, unsure why Natalie’s attitude had changed. But up close, he was even more enchanted by her beauty.

In all his years, he had never encountered such a beautiful Oriental woman.

For a moment, Danny was smitten, nodding repeatedly.

Natalie surveyed the venue; there were many people and cameras.

"I don’t know where the restroom is here. Could you show me?"

Danny’s eyes lit up.

The restroom was a perfect place for some shenanigans.

"Sure, I’ll take you."

Natalie picked up her clutch and stood, giving Danny a slight smile.

"Thank you for your help."

"No problem, no problem."

Saying that, Danny reached out, attempting to hold Natalie’s hand, but she dodged him.

Natalie smirked.

"You lead the way, I’ll follow behind."

Blinded by lust, Danny agreed to whatever Natalie said.

Everyone watched the two curiously. Who didn’t know about the animosity between Danny and Zane? Why was Zane’s woman following Danny?

The gossip flames burned brightly.

People pretended not to notice while glancing toward the restroom.

A particularly bold female companion, once they went outside, quietly opened the door a crack to listen for any sounds inside.

Half a minute of silence, then half a minute later, screams echoed from the restroom.

A man’s screams,

"Ah!"

"Mm!"

"Oh!"

"NO!"

...

They even composed a simple aria of agony.

Everyone exchanged glances, wordlessly inching toward the entrance to hear more clearly.

Natalie started acting when they entered and Danny tried to make a move.

First, she delivered a hand chop to Danny’s dislocated arm from Zane, halving his combat power. Then, she kicked him in the groin, making him double over. A subsequent kick to his neck left him sprawling on the floor. Lastly, she dislocated his other arm.

After finishing, Natalie stomped hard on his hand with her high heel.

...

When Zane rushed back, Natalie was heating things up in the restroom. The moment he saw the sofa vacant of Natalie, his expression darkened.

He casually asked someone.

The person gestured toward the restroom.

"She went to the restroom with Danny."

Zane’s brows furrowed deeply as he hurriedly made his way to the restroom, pausing only when he heard Danny’s wails, before ultimately pushing the door open.

When the wails finally ceased, Zane waited by the door.

Natalie, after washing her hands, wiped them with a handkerchief as she leisurely returned to the banquet. Lost in the joy of avenging Zane, she overlooked the silence of the event. Just as she pushed the door open with a smile still intact, she saw Zane standing, hands on his hips, waiting with a stern look.

"...."

She had gotten carried away, learned the thrill of taking down bad guys, and momentarily lost track of time.

Natalie quickly adjusted her expression.

"Did you finish talking so soon?"

Zane continued to wear a stern face.

"You promised you’d stay put and wait for me, but now, what did you get up to?"

Natalie: ...

"Going to the restroom."

Zane remained silent.

Natalie grew slightly anxious.

"When nature calls, you can’t expect me to hold it, can you?"

Zane raised a hand to pinch his brow.

"Then explain why you had to go with Danny?"

Natalie’s expression changed swiftly, sweeping her gaze over the people at the banquet. Tsk, why did these people answer everything Zane asked?

Finally, she told the truth.

"I couldn’t hold back and gave him a beating."

Zane touched his tongue to the inside of his cheek. This was Natalie’s nature; she’d stand up for those she cared about.

It was just that he worried.

Not seeing her when he came out, knowing she had gone to the restroom again, inevitably brought memories of the last incident.

Zane held back his emotions.

The young lady was quite capable, surely confident in her abilities. If he continued to criticize, it would only hurt her feelings.

He looked down and asked softly.

"Did you hurt your hand?"

Natalie’s eyes lit up.

"It did hurt, it still hurts now."

She extended her hand toward Zane.

"Look, it’s all red."

Natalie’s voice was muffled, her eyes glistening with tears, looking pitiful.
