Adventurer's Guild Café: I Was Wrongfully Exiled by the Saint, So I Will Enjoy My Second Life with My Fluffy Friends-Chapter 1V2. .5 - Leah and Ingrid
“Hmm? Those ears and tail certainly look like those of the White Wolf Tribe. Where exactly did you come from?”
The girl tilted her head while continuously circling around me, observing me closely.
Dan and Ruri seemed just as shocked, both rendered speechless like me.
It was a completely different woman who came to our rescue.
“Stop it, Leah. How rude you are being.”
“!”
When I turned toward the voice, I was met with yet another shocking sight. Standing there was another woman of the White Wolf Tribe.
She appeared to be older than the girl called Leah.
Beastkin generally don’t show their age much in their appearance. Instead, signs of aging appear in features humans lack, such as the volume and sheen of their tails. So, this woman might actually be much older than I assumed.
Unbelievable. Including myself, there were now three women from the White Wolf Tribe in this space.
Until now, the only one I had ever seen was my mother!
As I stood there in stunned silence, the older woman looked at me and bowed her head apologetically.
“I’m sorry. My daughter was being rude.”
“N-No, it’s fine...”
That was when I finally came to my senses.
So they really were mother and daughter. The girl compared her mother and me before speaking up excitedly.
“But, Mother, look! There’s a young girl from the White Wolf Tribe we didn’t know about! This is a huge opportunity to learn more about our species’ distribution!”
“Yes, but you shouldn’t be so aggressive with someone you don’t even know. You’re startling her.”
The woman spoke with an apologetic look on her face. The girl huffed and turned her nose up. As I stood there, unsure of what to do, a voice called out from behind me.
“Um, if you’d like, would you care to have some tea with us?”
Looking over, I saw that even the fluffy ones were staring at the bizarre situation with surprise.
They looked at my face, then at the two White Wolf Tribe women.
There’s no way they can’t tell us apart, right...?
That was the extent of my confusion.
“Sorry for the sudden introduction. My name is Ingrid.”
“I’m Leah. Just call me that—no need for honorifics like ‘-san’ or ‘-chan’.”
The aroma of the tea Dan had brewed filled the café. As I took a sip, the gentle taste of milk spread through my mouth, bringing a sense of calm. I took another look at the people gathered around the table.
Sitting next to me were Dan and Ruri, and across from me were Ingrid and Leah, the two White Wolf Tribe women. From what I heard, Leah was the same age as me.
“I never expected someone else from the White Wolf Tribe like Kuu-chan to show up—what a surprise!”
Ruri had been bewildered at first, but now she seemed excited, her cheeks flushed with enthusiasm.
After introducing ourselves and sipping our tea, we had finally settled down.
“So, Ingrid, what brings you here?”
Ruri tilted her head.
Ingrid thanked us for the tea before explaining the situation.
“The truth is, we’re staying in this town for a while to conduct business transactions for our family trade. We’re also doing a bit of sightseeing while we’re here.”
Finaldatt is a thriving city that boasts one of Grantania’s four great dungeons, the ‘Labyrinth of the Earth.’ Many visitors come for tourism, so it made sense.
“At the same time, we are working on compiling a list of where and how many White Wolf Tribe members still exist, as part of our efforts to preserve our species, which is on the brink of extinction.”
“We heard a rumor that there was a young White Wolf girl in this town, so we figured we’d check it out while we were here.”
Leah said this before taking a sip of her orange juice. She preferred fruit juice over tea.
“Oh, then...”
Ruri looked at me, troubled.
I also didn’t know how to respond and let my gaze wander.
“So, what about you? Where exactly did you come from?”
Leah questioned me relentlessly, leaving me flustered and wide-eyed, unsure of what to do.
