Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 173: Sightseeing
As the towering Minotaur knelt down and bowed towards Violet, everyone present fell into silence. To see such a normally stoic and dignified being now so easily to one so much weaker than them... it was near unheard off, it would only happen if the person who he bowed to held a significantly higher standing than himself.
The mouthy guard collapsed to his knees, not out of respect but abject horror as he finally understood how much he had fucked up. His fellow guards took several steps away from the now quietly weeping man.
Violet for her part had no idea what was going on, so after carefully consideration of the strange situation she found herself in, 3 whole seconds she spoke. "Umm hello, I’m Violet! Who are you? And why are you on your knees? Isn’t it rude not to look at someone when speaking to them?"
Susan felt her eye twitch, inwardly cursing why she had thought it a good idea to teach the young dragon that particular tidbit of information. And more importantly why said dragon thought it was appropriate to ask such a question now!
For the Minotaur simply chuckled as he proceeded to rise to his full height, back to towering over Violet and Luna. "Hahaha! Good good! I like you little one! My name is Bazen, I am an enforcer of the Wild Order. Ivy let me know that you would soon be arriving and asked than I come to welcome you! As for why I was on my knees, well that was my way of showing respect towards you, when someone bows at you it is normally considered a sign of respect."
He jovial mood suddenly took a turn as he glanced behind him towards the weeping guard. "Something that some people apparently lack." Then he was back to happiness as he once more turned back to face Luna.
"You must be Luna, I have also heard of you. You have fully accepted the wilds into you, for that you also have my respect. It is not an easy path that you have chosen but, the effort will be well worth it." He held a gentle smile on his bovine face as he looked down at Luna.
"Umm thank you? I think." Luna replied a touch unsure of herself. Wondering exactly what was meant by accepting the wilds into her.
Violet nodded at his words, quite pleased that he was being respectful towards her companion, even if his words held a slightly ominous undertone. "So can we go into the city now?" She asked after a moment, glancing at the giant golden gates expectantly.
"Of course we can, just give me but a moment and I shall give you a tour myself!" Getting a nod from both girls he promptly turned around and walked right up to the shivering guard, who was still pale faced and on his knees. "Now then, what to do about you..."
The guard didn’t even try to beg or plead, he simply remained in his current pitiful position, seemingly accepting of whatever fate he had unknowingly brought upon himself. With a contemptuous sneer on his face Bazen unslung his mighty axe, then with a swing so fast it was like a blur he removed the guards head from his shoulders.
The cut was so clean it took until Bazen had already holstered his axe before both body and head fell to the floor. The Sovereign then looked up at the 3 remaining guards and spoke. "Now if I hear that you have been discriminating against intelligent beasts again I will make sure you sorry excuse for guards never live to see another day. Do I make myself clear."
The three guards straightened up and saluted in unison as they all replied. "Yes sir! It won’t happen again!"
Bazen snorted and turned away from them. "Make sure that it doesn’t." Then his tone once more shifting to that of kindness he spoke to Violet and her friends. "Now come with me ladies, allow me to show you around."
During this time Tyre and his party had stood there in shock, to think that one of the feared enforcers of the Wild Order had personally come to meet Violet and her friends. And that he had willingly bowed towards them! He shivered as he remembered how he had managed to insult them himself and he wondered what fate would have awaited him if that had happened with such a man around. He gulped as his gaze lingered on the headless guard bleeding out on the floor.
Violet for her part found it quite appropriate that the stupid guard had been killed, she would have done it herself but found it acceptable that the nice bull man had done it instead. She already had a very good impression of Bazen, finding that she really liked the man, his constant shifts in personality not bothering her at all.
Luna who had also gained some instincts due to her evolution, and sharing nearly every sense and emotion with Violet found that she too trusted the Minotaur. Her logical brain wondered if it was smart to so blindly trust such a powerful individual, yet she decided to withhold any judgement for the time being.
As the group walked forward Bazen stopped as he came in line with Tyre. "You did well in standing up for young Violet there. But I shall be looking after our guests for now." The dismissal was quite clear, any hopes that tyre had of using Violet’s presence to boost his own reputation falling at the wayside in front of the overpowering man.
In response he meekly nodded his assent. Violet gave him a wave as she walked past. "It was nice to meet you Tyre, hope to meet you again!" Her innocent words brought a faint smile to his lips as he too waved back at the dragon.
Then without further delay Violet and co passed under the golden gates and entered the ancient city of Cragkieth.
What first caught her eye was the wide street that seemed to cut through the city. It was lined with buildings that all seemed to hold several of the golden crystals, their general illumination lighting up the streets below. But it was what was on the wide street that truly interested Violet. For it was full of enlightened, from countless different races.
Dwarves held the majority, 6 in 10 being dwarven, yet many more walked the street. From the rare elf walking gracefully along, to the various beastkin from both known and unknown beast lineages.
She was also hit with the noise. As soon as she passed through the gates the sounds of the city hit her in full force, apparently magic of some kind was blocking all sounds from passing through the gates. Violet stood there frozen in place as she took in the sights and sounds.
She felt a hand grab ahold of her own and glanced down to see that Luna was now holding it. Feelings of delight and amazement filtered through their bond, both girls slightly overwhelmed by the onslaught of sensations.
Merchants hawked their wares on the side of the streets. Babies cried out in their mothers arms. A wagon rolled down the street, being pulled by a strange 6 legged beast.
She was eventually broken out of her stupor by the sound of Bazen’s voice. "It is quite the sight is it not? I remember my first time seeing a city in all of its glory, I was raised in the Wilds myself, didn’t see a city till I was already a grown man. Yet I still remember the sight as clearly now as it was back then." A warm smile played at his lips as he observed the shell shocked girls reaction.
"But come there is much for you too see, and much I want to show! I’m sure you have questions, but hold them for now, we can talk later on once we are back at the Order."
This finally snapped Violet out of her stupor, enought for her to simply nod as she kept on observing the bustle of a city in motion.
