Chapter 193: The Colosseum (11)

The tournament progressed swiftly, fights happening at a rapid pace so as to keep the crowd entertained. The organisers seemed eager to host the entire event in a single day for whatever reason, not that Violet and Luna opposed this fact.

Violet’s next battle would be against Tyre, she was looking forward to seeing how the man she didn’t think was all that strong earlier turned out to be.

So when she walked out into the arena for her 3rd match she greeted him with a smile. "Hey Tyre nice to see you again!"

Tyre however, seemed less than enthused to be meeting Violet in such a situation, a resigned look on his face as he awkwardly waved back at her. "Greeting Violet, it is good to see you doing well. I wish we could have met under different circumstances than in the middle of a tournament."

"Eh but this is good, we get to see how strong we both are! It will be fun! Let’s have a good fight." She smiled wide at the dwarves man, eagerness evident in her posture.

Tyre for his part let out a resigned sigh, before he straighted his posture and nodded to himself. "Your right, let’s have a good fight, let the best fighter win."

"We have the mystical punching wizard Violet back, this time fighting against long time Colosseum veteran Tyre! Lets here it for the first fight of the quarter finals!" Boomed the voice of the announcer, causing the crowd to explode in noise.

"Let the battle begin!"

Violet opted to return to her magical roots for this fight, summoning her barrage of void boots and sending them forth. Tyre instantly raised his shield, a layer of rock and earth covering its front whilst dense earth mana inter wove over it all. The shield easily blocked Violet’s initial barrage, her bolts doing little more then removing small chunks of earth which were quickly replaced.

"Tch sturdy defence." She muttered to herself, though her smile stayed wide on her face.

She began her classic strategy of interspersing spears into the barrage, yet Tyre responded perfectly, angling his shield wheneve one of her powerfull spears impacted it, so instead of punching through the defence her attacks were redirected away to sail into the ground behind him.

All the time he was steadily advancing towards Violet who in turn was slowly circling his position whilst maintaining her barrage.

When he was within 5 meters of her position he swung his hammer from a low arc causing the head to dig into the sandy ground on the swing, yet instead of sand being flung forth, rocks the size of Violet’s fists were sent flying towards her at speed.

She reacted by summoning forth a void shield to block the attack, yet the shield only held up for a couple of the rocks that impacted it hefore it began to shatter. Still that gave Violet enough time to move out of the projectlies way and launch yet another barrage. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Tyre then dashed forward whilst unleashing a battle cry that shook the ground he was standing on. Violet felt a tug in her mind, her vision momentarily zoomed in on Tyre and she had the sudden urge to charge straight at him and rip him apart with her claws.

Yet as soon as she took a single step towards him she felt something snap and the taunt was broken allowing her to think clearly once more. But that momentary distraction was enough for Tyre to close the distance between them, he brought him hammer down in an overhead arc aiming for her head.

A void shield popped into existence in the hammers path, it only held the hammer back for a moment but that was enough for Violet to jump backward and crouch down as her legs tensed. The hammer slammed into the ground, kicking sand in all directions with a resounding thud.

Then Violet pounced forwards, her fist clenched and her void coat covering her hand in a dense layer of mana. Tyre raised his shield to block the blow but was surprised when he found himself being pushed back from the impact.

He had no time to re enter himself before Violet was upon him once more, her fist once more raised with power crackling off the limb. She did not limit herself to just physical attacks however, her bolts and spears continually firing in a near ceaseless barrage of deadly attacks.

Tyre was forced on the back foot, unable to fully deal with the onslaught. His shield was slowly being battered, the rock and earthen layer being reduced to useless rubble faster than he could repair it.

As Violet stepped forth to land a punch once more she suddenly found her foot sinking into the ground, her ballence being completely thrown and leaving her open to a counter. A counter than came with great force.

He tried to summon a shield yet it hardly slowed down the blow, she was forced to bring both her hands up, crossing them before her chest and bracing for the impact.

When the hammer hit home she was sent flying backwards, she felt one of her arms crack from the impact sending a jolt of pain through her system.

She swiftly regained her ballence, some distance now separating the two combatants. Violet tried to flex her left hand yet found she was unable to, her arm having most definitely broken from that blow. She grimaced at the pain but her smile still remained.

Behind her head a magical circle began to etch itself into reality mana pouring into it as she repaired her void cannon. Tyre sensing the danger coming from that spell rushed forward to try and stop it.

This was something that Violet was not willing to allow. She redoubled her barrage, spears and bolts flying out at a rapid pace. Yet it was not enough Tyres advance was inevitable. He soon got into range and swung down once more, only to strike nothing as Violet had disappeared.

He turned around frantically to try and find her, only to spot her on the opposite side of the arena. He then looked behind her and paled, the magic circle behind her having completed itself.

He slammed his shield into the sand, rocks and earth rushing up from below to reinforce his shield he layered every defensive skill he had to try and block the incoming attack. He had seen her use this skill before after all, and he remembered how it had slain the hybrid elemental in a single blow, he was not eager to allow such a thing to happen to him.

Then the cannon fired. A blinding purple light blazed for but a moment, before a barrel sized blast of utter devastation raced straight for Tyre.

First the summoned rocks were erased, then the barrier protecting his shield ceased to exist. His shield surprisingly managed to hold on, owing to its powerful enchantments. Still it was blasted away his arm unable to keep it in place under the indomitable force of Violet’s attack. Then just as the void cannon was about to to impact his body it was abruptly stopped in place by a golden barrier.

Until said barrier cracked.

Thankfully Tyre was teleported away before Violet’s cannon could punch through even that allowing Tyre to survive Violet’s most powerful attack.
