Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 224: Acidic Moon
The evening passed by in quiet comfort for the girls, they ate, relaxed and chatted about the things that they had experienced whilst inside of this strange dungeon. From discussing the heated battle with the large tiger to the somewhat anticlimactic slaughter of the spider nest in the labyrinth.
They also spent some time discussing how they fought, what went well, what could be improved on, how they could better work together as a functional team.
After all, they knew that the dungeon would only get harder the deeper down they delved so it made sense to get ther coordination sorted sooner instead of later.
Eventually though the girls did turn in for the night. With only two bedrooms, both already occupied by the four girls, Olivia had to sleep out in the lounge area, but it wasn't too bad since Luna summoned forth her bed that was still within her storage ring and allowed the human to use that, seeing as she was happy to share her bed with Violet.
So it was that the morning soon came, Violet and Luna were awoken with the smell of meat being cooked, they struggled to disentangle their limbs from one another, having fallen asleep in each others arms. After some time they did manage to free themselves and exited out of their room to find Olivia over the stove cooking up a hearty breakfast for everyone.
This was also the first time that they had seen her fully out of her armour. Olivia was a relatively tall girl, slightly shorter than Luna but taller than everyone else in the group. She wore simple linen pants and tunic with her emerald hair left to hang freely down to her shoulders.
She was humming a tune to herself as she worked over the stove, carefully preparing the large amount of food she was cooking.
Violet smirked as she saw that, glancing over at Luna with a glint in her eyes that spoke of upcoming mischief. Luna was tempted to try and stop her companion from doing what she planned but she was also quite curious to see exactly what the reaction would be from their new human friend.
In the end she just sighed in acceptance of Violet's plan.
With her companions acceptance Violet blinked out of existence and reappeared right besides Olivia a moment later. Yet she may have miscalculated her approach, for the moment that she appeared Olivia reacted on pure instinct.
Her hand, which was currently holding the handle of a pan shot up with blinding speed. The food was sent flying away as the metal pan impacted with the side of Violet's head with a resounding clang.
Thankfully for Violet, Olivia's aim was slightly off, so instead of the heavy metal pan impacting the side of her head, it instead impacted the horn jutting out of her head.
Still the impact was solid, Violet was sent flying backward to impact the wall besides the stove in complete surprise as the sudden strike.
Olivia only then actually looked at who she had just struck and her face instantly paled, she opened her mouth, closed it, then reopened it as she seemed unable to even get any words out.
Thankfully she was saved from having to speak by the jubilant laughter coming from behind her, she spun around to see Luna, bent over at the waist, her arms wrapped around her waist as she laughed uncontrollably at her companions misfortune.
Said companion let out a groan as she staggered back up to her feet as she rubbed her horn in pain.
Thankfully before Luna burst into laughter she did create a quick ice construct to catch the food that had been sent flying, else they would have waisted good food!
"Hahahah! Oh that was hilarious! I should let you try to sneak up on Olivia more often if that will be the reaction each time! Nice swing by the way Olivia! It made a very satisfying sound!" She then burst back into laughter whilst Violet just grumbled in annoyance that her plan on scaring the human had backfired so dramatically.
At that time Rhyana and Susan burst out of their room, looking half asleep still yet having rushed out upon hearing the commotion. When they saw Violet rubbing the side of her head, Luna laughing uncontrollably and Olivia holding an empty pan in one hand as food was being held by ice above her with a mortified look on her face, the two companion nearly let out a sigh and shook their heads.
After the excitement finally died down Olivia did try to apologise to Violet yet was stopped by Luna who only congratulated her on her mighty pan strike! This only caused the shy girl to flush in embarrassment, yet the faint hint of a smile could be seen curling the side of her lips at the praise.
Eventually the party was once more ready to explore the dungeon, they did still have one last key to find, likely guarded by one last boss. They assumed that they would find this boos over at the only 'man made' landmark on the island so decided that she'd should head in that direction first once back out into the rolling hills.
Around an hour into their journey they had yet to encounter a single creature, based on how far away their were from the towering black monolith they had around an hour left till they would arrive.
Yet it was also then that Violet noticed that the world was beginning to take on a green tint, she looked around in confusion for a moment, her actions bringing the rest of the girls onto high alert.
When she was unable to spot any danger in their surroundings she then looked up and felt her instincts flair up in warning at what she saw.
The sickly green moon that had seemingly disappeared from the sky the previous night, was now back in the sky above. However, what had caused Violet to feel that spike in anxiety was the fact that that moon was now beginning to cover the bright sun above.
It was moving swiftly to cover the golden rays, turning the world a sickly shade of green in the process.
"That is not good." Violet muttered, getting an affirming nod from both Lune and Rhyana, their bestial instincts letting them both know that something was wrong.
Yet their was very little that they could do. The previous day they had been within the labyrinth when they assumed the moon had covered the sun the previous day so had avoided whatever was about to happen once again.
So, with no real alternatives, the girls hurried on with their march. Eager to spit any place that differed, or perhaps a spot that they could hunker down in.
Saddly they had no luck in that endeavour. The world continued to turn a deeper shard of green as time slowly passed. Violet's instincts only growing louder and harder to ignore the more that the moon covered the sun.
Before long that last of the golden rays of sunlight disappeared behind the green moon. An unnatural stillness overtook the land at that moment, the wind stopped blowing, the distant crashing of the waves against the cliff side halted.
The world seemed to hold its breath for a prolonged moment as the girls swiftly gathered together as they readied their weapons for whatever may come.
Then the world resumed its movements, only something else joined the ensemble.
All around the girls figures began to coalesce, they hovered above the verdant grass, their forms not quite matching that of an enlightened with only superficial similarities present.
The forms all had a 'torso' along with a 'head' with had no other distinguishing feature past their sickly green colouration.
Despite having no facial features to discern exactly what was happening, Violet was sure that each and every one of the creatures was staring straight at the huddled friends.
They remained motionless for a prolonged second. Then without warning, they began to move, directly towards the girls.
