Chapter 91: Chapter 91: A Shameless Person is Invincible

Moira Sloan didn’t sleep well that night.

At two in the morning, she was still lying on her stomach in bed, her legs kicked up as she scrolled through a short-video app.

She’d had her fill of inspirational quotes, but sleep was nowhere in sight.

She wasn’t a cold-hearted person. After spending so much time with Connor Quinn, and with him having done so much for her, both openly and behind the scenes, she was bound to be moved at least a little.

There was another crucial point.

Connor Quinn’s family.

If he came from an ordinary family, she could have just rejected him and been done with it.

But the problem was, Connor Quinn wasn’t from an ordinary family. His life was hard.

This was Moira’s weak spot.

When she looked at Connor Quinn, it was sometimes like looking in a mirror.

Her life was hard, too, but she only had to fend for herself.

But when Connor’s life was hard, he had to grit his teeth and endure it, because he still had Jade Quinn to take care of.

At this thought, Moira sat up in frustration and ran her hands through her hair a few times.

’Why did I ever get involved with him in the first place?’

’Lust clouds the mind. The ancients were not wrong.’

「The next day.」

For the first time in ages, Moira Sloan didn’t get up at seven.

She had fallen asleep at four in the morning, throwing her internal clock completely out of whack.

At ten in the morning, she got out of bed feeling groggy. She shuffled into the living room in her slippers and drank a cup of cold water from the dispenser. Only then did her consciousness, which had felt like it was floating on clouds, slowly return to her.

Leaning against the water dispenser, she lazily surveyed the apartment.

The living room was spotless, a breakfast was sitting on the dining table, and the door to the spare bedroom was open, revealing it to be empty.

Once she confirmed that Connor Quinn wasn’t home, Moira Sloan straightened her slender back. Then she put down her cup, ignored the breakfast, and went back to the bedroom to sleep in.

The next time she woke up, it was already one in the afternoon.

She hadn’t woken up naturally. A call from Shauna Duane had jolted her awake.

Without opening her eyes, she reached for the phone on her nightstand and answered it. "Speak."

Shauna Duane whispered, "Moira Sloan, someone’s here to see you."

Hearing Shauna’s deliberately hushed tone, Moira lazily raised an eyebrow. "Loan sharks?"

Shauna, confused, didn’t understand. "Huh?"

Moira teased, "If it’s not loan sharks, why are you being so cautious?"

Shauna stammered, "He doesn’t look like a good person."

Moira opened her eyes. The exhaustion was gone, replaced by a clear focus.

’Have to admit, Shauna’s got a real knack for judging people.’

「Half an hour later, Moira arrived at the shop by taxi.」

She had just scanned the code to pay and gotten out of the car when she saw the man sitting inside through the glass door.

Recognizing him, Moira squinted from outside the door before striding in on her high heels.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in."

Moira greeted him first, casually setting her handbag down.

When the man saw Moira, he shot to his feet, his face plastered with a fawning expression. "Junior Sister."

Moira offered a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "I’m not worthy of the title."

With that, Moira glanced at Shauna and sent her away. "Shauna, go get me a bubble tea."

Shauna responded, "What flavor?"

Moira said, "Passion fruit, no sugar."

Shauna, "You got it."

After agreeing, Shauna walked over to Moira and tugged on the corner of her shirt. "Should I go next door and get some help?"

A smile played on Moira’s lips. "Afraid I’ll beat him to death?"

Hearing this, Shauna’s eyes darted around. She instantly understood and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, "You just wait. I’ll go weld the door shut for you."

With Shauna gone, only Moira and the fawning man remained in the shop.

The man chuckled and pulled a business card from his pocket, casually offering it to her. "It’s been so long. Let’s catch up, for old times’ sake."

Moira glanced down at the card in his hand but didn’t take it, sneering instead. "Finn Fuller, Sales Director at ’The Premier Pavilion’."

Finn Fuller was completely unfazed by Moira’s contempt. On the contrary, he continued shamelessly, lost in memories of the past.

"I remember we were the closest among all the apprentices."

"You were always following me around, calling me ’Second Senior Brother’."

"Back when you were dating Shane Jennings, I was the first person you told. I even..."

Just as Finn Fuller was speaking, Moira cut him off with a cold laugh. "Finn Fuller, have you forgotten? You were expelled from the school."

Hearing Moira’s words, the color drained from Finn Fuller’s face.

Moira continued, "Back then, you colluded with a foreign company and leaked every little thing our Master taught you. I’m just curious, how do you have the nerve to show your face in front of me?"

Before Finn Fuller could respond, Moira added sarcastically, "Is this what they mean by ’a shameless person is invincible’?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Confronted by Moira, Finn Fuller’s face flushed red, then turned pale.

After a long moment, Finn Fuller put down the business card he was clutching. He composed himself and said with a grief-stricken expression, "Moira, what happened back then was all a misunderstanding. I know you’re still angry, so you won’t listen to any explanation I give you. How about this: I’ll leave my card here. When you’ve had a change of heart, give me a call."

With that, Finn Fuller started to leave. As he passed by Moira’s side, he paused. "Moira, your Second Senior Brother doesn’t want to see you bury your talent in some small town. Whether it’s a foreign company or a domestic one, as long as it can promote our national culture, it’s a good company, isn’t it?"

Hearing this, Moira turned her head to meet his gaze and scoffed. "By that logic, a good country is one that leads its people to prosperity. Why don’t we have our country help theirs achieve unification?"

Finn Fuller, "..."

Finn Fuller was practically cursed out of the shop by Moira.

He stumbled out, having been mercilessly chewed out.

He had just stepped out the door and was yanking at the tie around his neck to vent his anger—a pathetic attempt at dignity—when a stern, cold voice suddenly came from behind him. "Finn Fuller. Long time no see."
