After Descending the Mountain, Seven Big Brothers Spoil Me-Chapter 1248: Scores Settling
These words were almost squeezed out from between Ye Lingfeng's clenched teeth.
After speaking, he glanced at Grove and sneered, "What, keeping him around because you haven't had enough fun yet? Are you planning to keep playing your little game of 'choose one out of two' with him?"
"Oh wait, no, neither of you has to choose. Look how great the bond is between you and your daughter, and here I am, just a nobody."
At this point, everyone could sense his displeasure and realized he was suppressing his anger.
Seeing this, the others exchanged glances and immediately found an excuse to leave, leaving the father-daughter trio behind. Even Grove, the big troublemaker, was dragged away so that Ye Lingfeng wouldn't go mad and end up killing him in a fit of rage.
They still had a few questions to ask him.
Qin Lie also walked over, patted Zhouzhou's head with an approving look in his eyes.
Upon seeing this, Ye Lingfeng's lips twitched, and he almost started yelling again.
"Heh, I'm just a nuisance, huh? I shouldn't have woken up! I shouldn't have interrupted your lovely father-daughter bonding time!"
Zhouzhou, hearing this, subtly glanced at him, hesitated for a moment, but said nothing.
Ye Lingfeng's face grew darker. "What, no response? Feeling guilty? Or did I hit the nail on the head, huh? Finally admit it?"
Zhouzhou and Qin Lie exchanged a look. After hesitating, she quietly asked, "Dad, how do you feel now? Is your soul stable? Are you going to faint again?"
Ye Lingfeng froze for a moment upon hearing this, then it all clicked. His expression twisted again, and he coldly smiled, "Why did you have to wake me up like that? Is this how you get your kicks, making me so angry just to bring me back?"
He couldn't help but glare at Qin Lie, cursing in his heart.
That damn Qin Lie! Don't think he didn't notice the selfish motives behind his actions. It wasn't to save him; it was to get what he wanted.
"Humph!"
Ye Lingfeng wasn't going to acknowledge any kind of gratitude for his rescue!
Zhouzhou looked at him, then skipped over and took his pulse, carefully checking him over again. After confirming that he was truly okay, she finally relaxed and her eyes welled up with tears.
She suddenly threw herself into his arms, sobbing loudly. "Dad! You're awake! I was so worried about you!"
Her crying was so loud that even her shoulders trembled, and Ye Lingfeng hadn't seen her cry like this in a long time.
After all, Zhouzhou had grown up. She considered herself an adult now and felt like crying was too embarrassing—she only did it when she was pretending in acting roles.
Seeing her cry so desperately brought back memories for Ye Lingfeng, making him both heartbroken and proud. He shot a triumphant glance at Qin Lie, as if to say, "See, my daughter still loves me the most."
Qin Lie, however, pretended not to notice his smug look and decided to give them space.
He hadn't spoken to Ye Lingfeng in a while, so he chose to be magnanimous and let them have a moment to talk.
With that, Qin Lie stepped back, turning to look out at the ocean in the distance.
"It's okay," Ye Lingfeng softly patted Zhouzhou's back, trying to comfort her. "Don't cry. I'm awake now, see?"
At this, Zhouzhou became even more worried and clung to him tightly.
Ye Lingfeng coughed a few times, his face contorting slightly. "Cough, cough, Zhouzhou, let go. If you don't, I'll really pass out."
Zhouzhou immediately released him, her eyes red as she looked at him.
Seeing this, Ye Lingfeng's heart softened completely, and he forgot all about being upset over how they woke him up.
This was definitely Qin Lie's idea.
What did it have to do with Zhouzhou?
His Zhouzhou only wanted him to wake up safe and sound.
Zhouzhou gazed at him, clearly heartbroken. She couldn't help but say, "You've lost weight."
How could he not? He'd been bedridden for over a month, unable to eat or drink, surviving on only nutritional fluids to keep his life signs going.
He was now almost a skeleton.
Thinking of this, Zhouzhou's tears fell even more quickly.
She didn't cry out loudly like before. Instead, she silently wept, and Ye Lingfeng felt even more distressed.
Sighing, he pulled his little girl into his arms again. "Alright, don't cry. Daddy's fine now. Let's finish up here and head home."
Right! She hadn't been home in over a month—she missed home terribly.
Thinking about this, Zhouzhou's expression hardened.
If it hadn't been for Grove bringing her here, she'd have already had several meals at home by now!
Fuming, she marched off to settle things with Grove.
Then, she looked up at the sky with a wary glance before quietly handing Ye Lingfeng a bundle of talismans.
These were to ward off lightning and stabilize his soul.
She was terrified that Divine Thunder would snatch him away again.
When Divine Thunder saw this, it couldn't help but roll its eyes.
Well, even if it sent Ye Lingfeng to another space, what was the point? They would always find him again.
It had to admit, this trick was clever—it hadn't expected Zhouzhou to come up with such a wicked plan.
Fine, whatever. It was almost over anyway.
Divine Thunder was afraid that if Ye Lingfeng didn't wake up soon, it might truly be too late.
After all, sometimes even Divine Thunder felt angered by Zhouzhou and Qin Lie's methods.
Plus, earlier, they didn't even hesitate to risk Grove shooting Ye Lingfeng—they were willing to gamble on everything, such a ruthless move.
Zhouzhou had obviously anticipated this, though.
Ye Lingfeng walked a few steps, feeling that something wasn't right.
Something felt pokey. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
He unbuttoned his clothes and nearly went blind from the shock.
He saw that his inner clothing was covered with countless talismans, sewn into the fabric at some point.
His eyes shot daggers at Qin Lie.
In the past few days, the only person that had only been around him was this guy. And given the clumsy needlework, it could only have been him.
Noticing his glare, Qin Lie walked over, explaining, "I was afraid you might have run into something, so these talismans could at least help block something."
Alright, fine.
Ye Lingfeng grumbled, but begrudgingly accepted this explanation.
He snorted, pretending not to look at him.
Seeing this, Zhouzhou coaxed, "Dad, please don't be angry. We had no choice. We have no idea where Mr. Thunder had sent you, and I couldn't find you anywhere. We had to figure out a way to bring you back."
As she spoke, Zhouzhou's eyes turned red again, and she looked ready to cry.
Ye Lingfeng, seeing her about to cry, quickly raised his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, I'm not blaming him. Just stop crying."
Zhouzhou immediately brightened up, no longer looking like she was about to cry.
Ye Lingfeng couldn't help but grind his teeth in frustration. "Tsk, scheming again!"
She should go into acting—her talent was so good she could win an award for best actress in no time.
Zhouzhou, grinning brightly, linked her arm with his and reached out to take Qin Lie's hand, her face glowing with happiness.
She didn't want to be an actress, though—she just wanted to be her dad's little treasure!
Seeing her skip happily like that, Ye Lingfeng's heart melted.
Over the years, Zhouzhou had been so busy with missions that she had grown up faster than him. She had to mature a lot.
He hadn't seen her act this childishly in a long time.
Forget it. He would just let it go.
