After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back-Chapter 115: A battle
Nina gathered the cubs into her arms and stepped outside. The sky was clear and bright, the air crisp after the rain. The weather was too pleasant to waste indoors.
"Odian, the weather’s nice today. Should we take the cubs out for some fun?" she suggested.
"Of course," Odian replied warmly. "Where would you like to go?"
She thought for a moment. "Somewhere beautiful... and spacious enough for the cubs to play."
Viann stepped forward. "Nina, when I was out hunting before, I saw a field of fluffy grass. It’s soft and perfect for cubs. There are beautiful flowers nearby too. Would you be interested?"
"Fluffy grass?" Nina’s eyes lit up. It sounded delightful. "Alright, let’s go there. We’ll head out after breakfast."
Everyone quickly prepared what they would need. After eating, they set off, leaving a few males behind to guard the stone house.
Nina sat on Odian’s back with the cubs in her arms. From above, she spotted a wide stretch of lush, velvety green—like a giant carpet spread across the earth. Wildflowers bloomed nearby, and trees swayed gently in the breeze.
Odian landed softly.
Fluffy grass was exactly as its name suggested—long, fine strands tipped with downy fuzz. When Nina stepped onto it, it felt like sinking into a thick, plush rug.
She couldn’t resist removing her shoes. The softness made her laugh in delight.
She set the cubs down, and they immediately began running about.
Momo, the little teng snake, coiled around her wrist, clearly tempted but slightly timid.
Nina crouched and placed him gently on the grass. "It’s alright. Mother will play with you."
She pulled out a small leather ball. "Shall we play ball?"
Momo nodded eagerly. Soon he and Nina were chasing the ball across the meadow. The other cubs joined in, and laughter filled the field.
Momo moved swiftly, his small head and tail agile as he caught the ball with surprising precision. Gradually, his initial nervousness faded, replaced with bright enthusiasm.
After playing for a long while, they decided to prepare lunch nearby.
Nina was about to put her shoes back on when Aviel approached.
"Wait a moment, Nina."
She looked at him in confusion.
Aviel knelt on one knee, holding a damp animal hide. Gently, he took her ankle and placed her foot on his thigh, carefully wiping it clean.
"The fluffy grass releases a fine powder. If you don’t wipe it off with medicated water, it can cause itching later."
His head was bowed, his movements meticulous and reverent.
Nina felt her cheeks grow warm.
It was the first time anyone had wiped her feet.
Aviel’s heart was far from calm. Holding her small, soft foot in his broad palm, he felt his ears grow hot.
How could they be so small... so delicate?
He wiped one foot, then switched hides and cleaned the other just as carefully. When he finished, he slipped her shoes back on and helped her stand.
Then he simply remained there.
The cubs stared at their own paws, then at Aviel, their expressions clearly asking: What about us?
Aviel coughed lightly and tossed a bottle of medicated water and several hides to Pado.
"You handle them."
He had only prepared for Nina. The cubs... he had forgotten.
Linny blinked indignantly.
Of course. Typical unreliable father.
Nina couldn’t help laughing as Pado crouched to wipe the cubs’ paws, suppressing a grin.
His Majesty’s favoritism wasn’t even subtle.
Viann joined in, helping wipe Momo’s body. Momo, interestingly enough, seemed quite comfortable with the dragon males.
After lunch, Nina was debating whether to continue playing when a familiar roar tore through the air.
Her brows drew together.
The mutated beasts again.
She quickly gathered the cubs into her arms. Odian moved to her side, ready to carry her away.
They had barely taken flight when mutated beasts and black-winged beastmen swarmed in from all directions, encircling them.
The sky darkened with sheer numbers.
Odian’s expression hardened. There were too many. He had to find a way to get Nina out.
Below, a sharp-eyed black-winged beastman noticed Momo coiled in Nina’s arms. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Lord Haron, that female has a young teng snake."
Haron narrowed his dark eyes.
Indeed—a pureblood teng snake.
Excellent.
"Capture the female and the teng snake first," Haron ordered coldly.
"Yes!"
The black-winged beastmen surged forward.
Battle erupted instantly.
Aviel and the dragon warriors formed a protective circle around Nina, lightning and fire raining down on the mutated beasts. The sky filled with shrieks of pain.
Haron’s eyes gleamed. "Waor. It’s our turn."
Waor nodded and shot toward Odian, Haron following close behind.
Two powerful auras pressed down like mountains.
Odian and Aviel exchanged a glance.
These two were formidable—likely equal to them in strength.
Odian’s mind raced. If those two targeted him directly, Nina and the cubs might be caught in the crossfire.
He made a swift decision.
He and Aviel would engage Haron and Waor, while Kith and the others protected Nina on the ground. Kith’s shield ability would be crucial.
"Aviel, stall them," Odian said before swooping down. He handed Nina and the cubs to Kith. "They’re in your hands."
Kith nodded solemnly. "I will protect them with my life."
Odian squeezed Nina’s hand gently. "Take care of yourself."
"You too," she said, worry flashing in her eyes.
He rose back into the sky to confront Haron.
Haron, recognizing Odian as his opponent, directed the mutated beasts and other warriors to attack Kith’s group, seeking an opening to seize Nina.
The ground battle turned brutal.
High-ranking mutated beasts charged relentlessly. Their numbers made escape nearly impossible.
Kith focused on defense, raising a powerful shield around Nina and the cubs. The barrier shimmered under repeated impacts as he launched wind blades when he could.
Finch darted outside the shield, drawing beasts away and easing the pressure, trying to create a path for escape.
The barrier trembled violently under the onslaught. Sweat beaded at Kith’s temples.
Then—
A ninth-tier mutated beast with glowing red eyes hurled itself forward.
The moment it struck the barrier, it detonated in a violent explosion.
The shockwave shattered the shield at last.
Fragments of energy scattered as the protective dome collapsed.
And in the next heartbeat, a flood of mutated beasts surged toward Nina and Kith.
