After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back-Chapter 47: Dilemma
"Mino, the shaman isn’t in the house," Aji said anxiously.
"Then where did he go?" Mino demanded, panic surging through him.
"I’ll go ask around," Aji said, hurrying off to question the neighboring beastmen.
Worried sick about Nina, Mino called over his shoulder, "Nina, how are you?"
There was no response.
"Nina? What’s wrong?"
His heart clenched. He turned sharply to Aji. "Aji, come here—check on Nina, now!"
Aji rushed back and took one look before his face drained of color. "Mino... Nina has passed out."
He quickly helped lower her down. Mino caught her and held her sitting against his legs, gently stroking her deathly pale face. "Nina, wake up. Please wake up..."
But Nina remained unconscious. Her skirt was already soaked with blood.
Sal hovered nearby, terrified and frantic, repeatedly licking Nina’s limp hand. Little female... please, please be okay.
"Mino," Aji said urgently, "earlier this morning several females suddenly fell ill. The shaman went to treat them, but I don’t know exactly where. Nina isn’t in a condition to be moved again. You stay here with her—I’ll find the shaman and bring him back immediately."
"Go. Make him come here right now," Mino said through clenched teeth.
"I will." Aji took off at once.
He searched several places before finally spotting the shaman in the northern square, treating a group of sick females.
Because so many had fallen ill at once, Chief Tali had gathered them together to make it easier for the shaman to work.
"Shaman!" Aji grabbed his arm, frantic. "Nina is in critical condition—please come with me now!"
"What happened to her?" the shaman asked, displeased. "I still have females here who haven’t been treated yet."
In his experience, males often exaggerated illnesses to get priority, so he assumed Aji was doing the same.
"There should be an order to things—we’re seriously ill too!" one of the females being treated protested.
"Exactly. Just because she’s sick, the shaman has to run off immediately? Aren’t we females too?"
Others who hadn’t been treated yet echoed their dissatisfaction.
Dora felt a surge of secret delight. Nina is about to die? That’s wonderful. She absolutely couldn’t let the shaman go to her.
Still, she cursed Sano inwardly for his incompetence—how could he let Nina be brought back instead of letting her die out there?
Her fingers closed around the bright red fruit in her pocket. If she only took a small bite, it shouldn’t be too serious... and with the shaman here, she could be treated right away.
She hesitated, gripping the fruit tightly, fear flickering in her eyes.
"No—it’s really serious," Aji insisted desperately. "Shaman, Nina’s pregnancy is already far along. Today she was kidnapped by Sano and injured her abdomen. She’s in severe pain, bleeding heavily, and she’s already lost consciousness."
He tugged at the shaman’s arm. "Please—she can’t hold on much longer."
The shaman wavered. Turning to the waiting females, he said, "That female, Nina... it does sound very serious. Why don’t you wait a little while? I’ll go take a look at her first."
Seeing this, Dora’s heart hardened. She bit into the red fruit.
She couldn’t let him go.
The other females were still reluctant.
"Is it really as serious as he says? Or is he exaggerating on purpose?"
"My stomach hurts badly too!"
Some began to question Aji.
"It’s true," Aji said urgently. "If we delay any longer, the cub might not survive—and the mother could be in real danger too!"
At the mention of a cub, the shaman’s resolve softened. "I’ll go see Nina first. You wait here—I’ll come back as soon as I can."
With the shaman having spoken, the others couldn’t object further.
Aji felt a rush of relief and quickly pulled the shaman along. They’d barely taken two steps when a sharp scream rang out.
"Ah—my stomach!" Dora clutched her belly and cried out in apparent agony. "Shaman, help me—my stomach hurts so badly!"
Her beast husbands rushed to surround her. "Dora, what’s wrong?"
"Shaman, hurry—come check on Dora!" one of them said, pulling at the shaman.
Seeing Dora holding her swollen belly, face twisted in pain, the shaman shook off Aji and hurried over to her.
"Let me see," he said, releasing his ability to examine her.
The poison from the fruit was fast-acting. As soon as the shaman approached, Dora genuinely began to feel pain—sharp, though not yet unbearable. The cub inside her also seemed affected, writhing uneasily.
After examining her, the shaman was visibly shocked. "You—what did you eat today? How did you ingest such a potent toxin?"
Dora immediately denied it. "I—I don’t know! I didn’t eat anything unusual!"
The shaman turned to her beast husbands. "Did any of you give her something strange today or yesterday?"
"No," they replied. "Only the usual food."
Only one of them avoided eye contact—he had seen Dora bite into the Corrosive Flesh Fruit earlier.
But he didn’t dare expose her and pretended not to know.
The shaman frowned and scolded them. "Be more careful with what you feed her in the future. Fortunately, she didn’t consume much—there’s no immediate danger to her life. Still, it’s harmed her body, and there may be lasting effects."
"Yes," her beast husbands replied guiltily.
The shaman hesitated. "Treating this will take time. You’ll have to decide who should be treated first."
Both were pregnant females—he truly couldn’t choose easily.
Aji, frantic beyond reason, stepped forward again. "Shaman, please—treat Nina first. She’s truly in critical condition. Since Dora isn’t in immediate danger, she can wait."
"No," one of Dora’s beast husbands snapped angrily. "Treat Dora first. Aji, what are you implying? Is Nina important while Dora isn’t? Can’t you see how much pain she’s in?"
"But you just said she isn’t in danger!" Aji retorted. "Nina’s situation is urgent!"
"You’re not the shaman—how do you know it’s urgent?" the beast husband scoffed. "Maybe she’s exaggerating to steal priority."
"She would never do that!" Aji shouted, furious. Turning back to the shaman, he pleaded, "Shaman, please—go see Nina first."
"Treat Dora first," the beast husband insisted, gripping the shaman’s arm.
Caught between them, the shaman was at a loss.
Dora let out another exaggerated cry. "Shaman—it hurts so much. Please help me."
"Well... perhaps I should—" The shaman glanced at Dora, his meaning clear.
Left with no choice, Aji turned and ran back to find Mino.
Mino was still calling Nina’s name over and over, hoping desperately for her to wake up.
Nina regained a sliver of awareness. Her eyelids felt impossibly heavy, and she couldn’t lift them or respond to Mino’s voice.
Mino paced anxiously, anger and fear twisting together as he wondered why Aji still hadn’t returned with the shaman.
When Aji finally appeared—alone—Mino’s expression darkened instantly. "Why are you back by yourself? Where’s the shaman?"
"He... Dora was suddenly poisoned," Aji said guiltily. "The shaman is treating her and refused to come."
A storm surged in Mino’s eyes. "Take me to him. Now."
