After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 151: Reuniting Eliza Sutton with Her Son
Before Eliza Sutton could even speak, Saul Reynolds couldn’t hold it in any longer.
"President Lockwood, this is Innis, the head of our company. Our two firms are competitors, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to work for the Lockwood Group, would it?"
Shane Lockwood glanced at Saul Reynolds and said coolly, "Are you sure Innis and the Lockwood Group are competitors?"
His casual question dripped with contempt.
Admittedly, Innis had gained powerful momentum over the past two years, overshadowing the design department.
But the design department was just one of over a hundred departments within the Lockwood Group, to say nothing of its many subsidiaries and branch companies.
The only reason Shane Lockwood paid any attention to the design department was that the Lockwood Group had originally been founded on fashion design.
While Innis had a promising future, it was in no position to be compared to a behemoth like the Lockwood Group anytime soon.
Saul Reynolds struggled for a moment before finally blurting out, "President Lockwood, you can’t just bully people like this!"
"So what if I am?" Shane Lockwood looked at Eliza Sutton. "You’ve cleared things up. Let’s go."
"Boss~~" Saul Reynolds cried out plaintively.
Seeing Saul Reynolds on the verge of tears, Eliza Sutton felt a pang of sympathy. She patted his shoulder. "It’s okay, head back for now. Innis will always be my home base."
"That’s right, Innis is your home base." Saul Reynolds cheered up instantly, shot Shane Lockwood a glance, and left in high spirits.
Brenda Preston slumped to the floor, shaking her head and muttering to herself, ’Impossible. How is this possible? How could Eliza Sutton be Innis? Isn’t she just some lucky criminal?’
Pearl Lockwood ignored Brenda Preston, her expression dazed.
’Eliza Sutton is Master Innis, the designer she admired and idolized the most?’
Amelia Sutton was also finding it impossible to accept.
Amelia Sutton was like a pufferfish, about to explode from anger.
Good heavens, she had been so happy these past few days. She had imagined Eliza Sutton’s miserable downfall countless times and fantasized over and over about how she would flaunt her success in Eliza’s face. But she had never imagined *this*.
Tears of rage streamed down her face as she called Cedric Sutton.
"Brother, what do we do now? Now that Eliza is Innis, her future will be nothing but glorious, and she’ll completely crush me underfoot!"
"Silly girl, what are you crying for?" Cedric Sutton’s voice was exceptionally gentle, carrying a powerfully reassuring quality. He said, "I promised you I would ruin Eliza Sutton, and I will keep my word. The person we were looking for has arrived."
"You mean Eliza Sutton’s illegitimate child?" Amelia Sutton grew excited. "Really? Brother, you really found him?"
Cedric Sutton chuckled. "You silly girl. As long as that child calls out to her in public, it won’t matter whose son he is—everyone will believe he belongs to Eliza Sutton. She won’t be able to argue her way out of it. As for the truth... who cares? In this day and age, who has time to listen to her nonsense?"
Amelia Sutton was thrilled, her eyes brimming with malice. "This time, I’ll make sure Eliza Sutton is completely and utterly ruined!"
"Excellent, excellent, just wonderful! She’s certainly a girl to be proud of." Master Willow was overjoyed, stroking his beard and grinning so wide his eyes nearly disappeared. "A man should marry a woman like Eliza Sutton. The Lockwood family is truly blessed."
Ivan Willow pouted, clearly displeased. "Grandpa, let me ask you, am I really your grandson?"
"Of course. How could that be in doubt?"
"Then why didn’t you introduce someone so wonderful to me? Even if I met Eliza Sutton too late, you should have helped me try to win her over."
"You brat, always talking nonsense." Master Willow paused. "You may be my grandson, but I have to be honest—you couldn’t handle a woman like Eliza. She’s a mighty eagle soaring through the heavens."
Ivan Willow pouted. Gazing at the brilliant Eliza Sutton on stage, he felt a pang of regret for the very first time.
Regret that he hadn’t tried harder in his own life.
The plagiarism issue had been cleared up, but that only made the reporters more reluctant to leave. They swarmed around Eliza Sutton, pelting her with an endless barrage of questions.
Excitement.
Joy.
Although this outcome was different from what they had expected, they were still thrilled.
After all, they had caught the legendary Master Innis in the flesh.
Suddenly, a reporter asked, "Master Innis, what inspired you to revisit and create a new version of your own work from four years ago?"
Eliza Sutton replied, "I saw photos of Miss Lockwood. She was so youthful, radiant, and noble that I immediately thought of that original piece. The inspiration came naturally from there."
Pearl Lockwood hadn’t expected such high praise from Eliza Sutton, and she unconsciously puffed out her chest with a touch of pride.
’Since Eliza put so much thought into it, and seeing as she really is Innis, maybe I could wear this dress after all.’
Then, she heard Eliza Sutton say, "Of course, since Miss Lockwood doesn’t care for my work, we can just let the matter drop. I’ve decided that Innis will auction off this piece, with all proceeds going to charity. Oh, and Miss Lockwood, allow me to wish you a happy coming-of-age ceremony in advance."
Pearl Lockwood’s expression immediately turned ugly.
At her side, Brenda Preston grabbed Pearl Lockwood’s wrist and said through gritted teeth, "Let her donate it. So what? Our Pearl is the eldest daughter of the Lockwood Group! Her coming-of-age ceremony will be a global event. Do you really think we’ll have trouble finding another master to design a dress for her? Right, Pearl?"
Her face was grim, but she couldn’t utter a single word.
Eliza Sutton paid them no more mind, turning to leave amidst a throng of people.
Brenda Preston leaned in and whispered in Pearl Lockwood’s ear, "Pearl, don’t worry. That Eliza Sutton won’t get the last laugh. The younger Miss Sutton said there’s a good show starting soon. She’s calling it ’Street Rat.’"
Pearl Lockwood looked at Brenda Preston. "What did you do?"
Brenda Preston gave a mysterious smile. "You’ve got it wrong, Pearl. It’s not about what *I’ve* done, but what *Eliza Sutton* has done. She made her bed a long time ago, and now all her past sins are being dug up for everyone to see just how vile she truly is. You could even say we’re doing everyone a favor by exposing her, so no one else gets deceived. Don’t you think?"
Pearl Lockwood didn’t speak, only her brow furrowed slightly.
"Eliza Sutton is leaving through the main entrance. Get ready."
"Don’t worry, I’ve got the entrance covered. The second Eliza Sutton walks out, I’ll rush over with the kid and make a scene, claiming he’s hers. Everyone will get to see the ’touching reunion’ between Eliza Sutton, her man, and their child."
"Isn’t what Amelia is doing a bit inappropriate?" Harrison Sutton’s brow furrowed deeply. "After all, this is a matter for the Sutton family. We should handle it behind closed doors. Causing such a public scandal will deeply hurt Eliza and your bond as sisters."
Amelia Sutton stared at Harrison Sutton in disbelief. "Dad, what are you trying to say? Are you defending Eliza Sutton...?"
Cedric Sutton stopped Amelia Sutton and said to Harrison Sutton with a smile, "Dad, I know you’re concerned about your father-daughter bond and don’t want to see Eliza Sutton’s reputation ruined. As her brother, do you think I enjoy this? But our hands are tied. This whole thing is a ticking time bomb. It’s better that we expose it ourselves rather than wait for someone else to catch us completely off guard. Doesn’t that make more sense?"
