Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Disheveled

Upon hearing this, Victor Morgan let out a low laugh. "When exactly *is* the right time?"

Only then did Jessie Sterling realize just how ambiguous her words had been.

Especially when she met Victor Morgan’s gaze, she instantly knew what he was thinking. She couldn’t help but reach out and pound her fist against his chest, grinding her teeth. "You are not allowed to think such inappropriate things!"

Unfortunately for her, those words held little power over Victor Morgan. In fact, he found her expression so adorable that he couldn’t resist the urge to mess her up completely.

"Be gentle, this wedding dress is very expensive!" Jessie Sterling couldn’t help but exclaim as she felt his restless hands trying to slip past the short, hidden zipper at her waist.

A hint of a smile flickered in Victor Morgan’s eyes. "If it breaks, we’ll just buy another."

Jessie Sterling: "!!!"

’This man is so outrageous!’

In the end, however, Victor Morgan didn’t damage Jessie’s dress. It wasn’t because he was worried about the cost of ordering a new custom one, of course. He was worried that if he truly gave in to the impulse to rip the wedding dress today, Jessie wouldn’t look too kindly on him.

By the time he set Jessie down, the expensive, handmade, diamond-encrusted mermaid wedding dress she wore was looking rather rumpled.

"Don’t you want me to carry you to the bathroom?" Victor Morgan asked in a low voice.

Jessie shot him an annoyed glare. "I can manage!"

’She could go by herself; she certainly didn’t need Victor Morgan’s help.’

Victor was about to say more, but Jessie had already tossed a throw pillow in his direction. The message to leave couldn’t have been more obvious.

"Well, call me if you need anything." Once Victor Morgan was certain Jessie wasn’t just saying one thing while meaning another, he turned and left.

The moment Jessie heard the door click shut, she let her shoulders slump. On the sofa, she nearly curled herself into a tight ball.

Jessie couldn’t help but blush at the thought of what had just happened with Victor Morgan.

’Who would have known that the man who always looked so prim and stoic could have so many moves behind closed doors?’

When Victor Morgan had picked her up earlier, she had been sitting practically on his lap, nestled against his waist and lower abdomen.

Victor hadn’t done anything too out of line, but his kisses had still elicited a reaction from her.

’So embarrassing...’

’I can never show my face again...’

Even though Jessie had blamed it all on Victor Morgan—and he had willingly taken the fall—she couldn’t stop her face from burning up whenever she thought about it.

She went to the bathroom to change. Looking at her completely ruined lace thong, Jessie balled it up and threw it straight into the trash can.

’She couldn’t stand the sight of it for another second!’

Back in his own room, Victor Morgan looked down at the damp patch on his shirt and smiled to himself.

Remembering the sight of Jessie flushed with passion, he couldn’t help but reach up and loosen his tie.

He was suddenly filled with regret.

It seemed the only advantage of this lakeside villa was having so many rooms, which suddenly felt like no advantage at all.

’After all, when he was with Jessie, why on earth would they need so many rooms?’

Victor Morgan went into the bathroom.

’If Jessie doesn’t come to me tonight,’ he thought, ’I probably shouldn’t go knocking on her door.’

Never mind whether Jessie would even open the door for him; Victor himself wasn’t sure he still possessed the willpower to hold back.

Their earlier encounter had already drained almost all of his self-control.

When Jessie emerged from the bathroom in her pajamas, her gaze fell upon the wedding dress she’d left on the sofa.

Staring at the rumpled dress, Jessie bit her lip, snatched up her phone, and began furiously tapping at the screen as if to vent her frustration.

[Jessie Sterling: You take this dress and get it handled!]

’She had no idea how to explain to someone why a dress she’d only worn to change into had ended up looking like a crumpled-up dishrag.’

The train of the skirt was an absolute mess.

At the thought of what had caused the damage, Jessie couldn’t bear to look at it for another second.

’If Victor hadn’t picked her up and hiked the entire skirt up to her waist, how could it have ended up like this? He hadn’t really *done* anything, and yet his hand felt like it had done *everything*.’

After sending the message to Victor, Jessie switched out of the chat window, determined to distract herself.

She opened her Weibo account. She rarely used it, but she liked to upload photos of her drawings of cute little animals or characters.

Inspired by the comics of artists she admired, Jessie would sometimes post a short webcomic strip of her own.

But since she wasn’t signed with a company or a verified influencer, she didn’t have many followers, and even fewer people saw her webcomics.

Before Jessie realized what she was doing, she found that she had already uploaded a comic strip she’d drawn late one night out of boredom.

She had drawn it on a whim one evening, back when she and Victor Morgan were out doing their wedding photoshoot.

At the time, she and Victor were still practically strangers, and during the photoshoot, she couldn’t help but flinch away the moment his hand touched her waist.

The photographer had been on the verge of throwing in the towel. When she got home later, Jessie couldn’t help but laugh thinking about her little interactions with Victor, so she decided to capture the moment in a comic strip.

During their shoot at Swan Rhapsody Castle, Jessie had wanted a panoramic view of the castle, so they chose a location that required a difficult trek over rough terrain. Since Jessie was wearing high heels and a dress with a long train, Victor had to carry her on his back the entire way up.

The comic strip Jessie had just posted depicted that very scene from the shoot at Swan Rhapsody Castle.

To her surprise, not long after she posted the strip, she received comments from some of her long-time followers.

"So cute! I love a male lead who’s the strong, silent type and just gets things done! He has this devoted, golden-retriever vibe."

"Aww, are you not drawing the little animals anymore? But this new comic strip is super cute and heartwarming too!"

"This is just what I love to see! More, please. Is this your first time drawing a comic strip with people? It’s so cute!"

The small handful of fans who followed Jessie’s Weibo had all been drawn in by her early drawings of tea parties hosted by her little bear, lamb, and rabbit characters. They were all very friendly.

Jessie couldn’t help but smile as she read the comments.

At the time, she hadn’t found the scene heartwarming in the slightest. While being carried on Victor’s back, her mind had been filled with nothing but regret. ’Why did I pick a place like this? Even feeding horses on the lawn at Neuschwanstein Castle would have been better than suffering on this mountain.’

But now, lying in bed and scrolling through the comments with her feet kicked up in the air, she couldn’t help but break into a wide grin.

Just then, a DING-DONG sounded from her notifications. She had received a new message.
