After Rebirth, I Married the Great Demon King-Chapter 439: Kidnapping?
Hearing Cheng Lie’s words, Yun Shifei’s nose tingled with a rush of emotion.
She didn’t even know why, but suddenly, she just wanted to cry.
Seeing Yun Shifei’s reddened eyes, Cheng Lie panicked a little. "What’s wrong? You don’t want to be with me?"
Yun Shifei shook her head. "I’m just... a little touched."
This life had brought her too many unexpected surprises.
Thinking of the past life, where she had been like a weed, trampled and humiliated by others at will. But in this life... finally, there was someone who held her in the palm of their hand.
This person gave her an overwhelming sense of security, taught her how to love someone, and made her understand what it truly feels like to love someone deeply.
Seeing that Yun Shifei wasn’t rejecting him, Cheng Lie relaxed and let out a small breath of relief.
He held her in his arms again, reaching out to stroke her hair. "Feifei, don’t even think about leaving me in this life."
He pressed a kiss on her forehead.
...
School started, and Yun Shifei became even busier. This was primarily because, as the academic year advanced, her coursework gradually became heavier.
Moreover, her entrepreneurial plan had gradually taken off.
Due to a lack of manpower, and unsure of where to find people for help, Yun Shifei decided to involve several of her dormmates to work together on the project.
Yu Liantao, who was initially interested in running a business, jumped at the chance when she heard that Yun Shifei had created a website to sell products online. Without hesitation, she contacted her family and listed all the products made by their factory on Yun Shifei’s website.
Fu Qingqing took charge of brainstorming promotional copy, while Tang Huan went around campus distributing advertisements.
The four divided their tasks clearly, each so busy they barely had a moment to rest.
After more than half a month of effort, the website’s traffic grew steadily, and more and more people started making purchases. Yun Shifei was overjoyed.
Seeing the results of her hard work made all the time she’d spent worthwhile, as she now saw a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
As a gesture of gratitude to her dormmates for their efforts, Yun Shifei decided to treat them to a karaoke session to unwind and have some fun.
At this point in time, university student entertainment options were fairly simple: aside from surfing the internet or dancing, karaoke was the go-to activity.
Since Yun Shifei didn’t dance and wasn’t very social online, she ultimately decided karaoke was the best choice.
The lucky coincidence? She could actually sing well.
As soon as the group stepped into the karaoke lounge, they completely let loose.
Yun Shifei sang two songs before excusing herself to the restroom.
Out in the restroom hallway, she unexpectedly ran into Xia Yuezhen.
It was a complete surprise to see Xia Yuezhen there.
It had been a long time since they last met. If not for Yun Shifei’s decent memory, she might not have remembered someone like Xia Yuezhen at all.
Xia Yuezhen noticed Yun Shifei as well.
Their gazes met briefly, and Yun Shifei took the initiative to greet her.
"Hello, Auntie," she said, using the term Cheng Lie had taught her to call her.
Little could anyone know how much Yun Shifei loathed this term—sharing everything with the likes of these people?
Xia Yuezhen watched as Yun Shifei entered the restroom.
Standing by the door, her gaze darted around. The coast was clear; no one else was around.
This was a golden opportunity.
This woman was dating that despicable little bastard. Last time, when she tried to kidnap her, her plan got thwarted by his people.
But now, here they were, in a place where his people couldn’t have followed her in.
With this thought, Xia Yuezhen acted as if nothing unusual was happening and quickly made a phone call to arrange for someone to "deal with" Yun Shifei.
On the restroom’s first floor, there was a window at the back. It wasn’t typically opened, but forced entry wasn’t impossible.
Xia Yuezhen’s eyes gleamed with a malicious light.
Her hatred festered, fueled by the miserable life she had endured recently, marked by whip marks left by Meng Jie.
Due to Elder Meng’s oversight, Meng Jie no longer dared slap her. But that didn’t stop him from taking her out privately to be whipped.
Her life had become unbearable.
Why on earth was she forced to endure such torment?
In fact, Xia Yuezhen shouldn’t have even been here today. After all, as the second daughter-in-law of the Meng Family, such cheap establishments were beneath her station.
But Meng Jie had made her come, to entertain a wealthy lady, assuring her that if she did well, he’d overlook her "faults."
Otherwise, he’d continue his weekly beatings.
She was utterly fed up.
Who could’ve guessed, in the brief moment she went to the restroom, she’d cross paths with the girlfriend of that bastard?
Because this girl was beautiful, Xia Yuezhen hadn’t been able to forget her all this time.
After the call, she returned to her room to await news. This time, she was determined to make it happen without anyone knowing.
After a while, Xia Yuezhen received a text message.
"Mission accomplished."
Seeing those two words, Xia Yuezhen’s crimson lips curled into a sinister smile. Ha! She knew it. That girl was too naïve to suspect her hand in this.
Quickly, Xia Yuezhen excused herself from the group, claiming she had an urgent matter, and left.
She took a cab to the location where Yun Shifei was supposedly being held.
The cab ride led her to a warehouse.
The area was desolate, and at first, Xia Yuezhen found it odd that her men had chosen such a location. Wouldn’t it be safer to stay in the city?
Hours of planning had taught her that the most dangerous places were often the safest.
Even so, their choice of this remote area didn’t entirely surprise her.
She stepped inside and called out, "Where is she?"
She was eager to see what Yun Shifei looked like now.
"Right here," came a sweet, soft voice.
But at that moment, it sent chills down Xia Yuezhen’s spine.
She immediately turned and saw Yun Shifei standing not far away.
"You..." Xia Yuezhen’s disbelief was written all over her face as she stared at Yun Shifei.
Yun Shifei nodded. "Auntie."
Looking at the girl’s subtle smile, in that instant, Xia Yuezhen suddenly felt as though Yun Shifei and Cheng Lie’s expressions overlapped.
It was as if their smiles were exactly the same.
"Are you surprised to see me standing here unharmed?" Yun Shifei’s smile deepened as she asked.
"No, I... I heard you’d been kidnapped. I came here just to check on you..." Xia Yuezhen quickly spun a lie.
Hearing this, Yun Shifei shook her head gently. "But your people have already told me all about your plan."
With that, Yun Shifei called out, "Come out."
Soon enough, a few burly men hauled two individuals into view and dumped them at her feet.
Seeing the people on the ground, Xia Yuezhen’s face froze—they were her own men.
But now, they were lying there in this state.
Something about this girl... was not what Xia Yuezhen had imagined. For the first time, a tremor of fear ran through her heart.
