Chapter 1425: Goblin Dormitory (Part 1)

A few hours later, the work hours ended with everyone finishing their shifts. They would either head home to rest or pass by other places to have fun first.

Many goblins who had already assimilated were somewhere having fun, while some decided to go home first for a short repose before heading out to dinner.

The newcomers who had just come from Iron Mountains were particularly giddy to explore the place. They had heard Alterra was very different, but they didn’t understand exactly how different it was just from the stories.

Here, they were welcomed everywhere, and they didn’t receive those subtle disgusted looks. In Iron Mountains, although it had greatly improved, especially when many Alterrans moved in, there were still many places where they felt extremely unwelcome.

For example, they would feel this in certain situations where they would do things that humans would. For example, when buying things like groceries for a brethren’s birthday. Even if they went as a large group to handle the attention, they would still experience this.

Sometimes, while they were lining up, the people behind them tutted and sneered.

"Can you even afford that?" one would ask. "You didn’t steal money from your master, did you?"

Or there would even be times people would claim they saw them stealing like rats that they were, but fortunately, they’d be cleared of charges simply because of the strict no-thieving rule that applied in the territory. In contrast, those people were even punished for wrongfully ruining their reputation!

These were fairly common occurrences that still happened every once in a while. They were used to it, and in fact, they appreciated that it wasn’t as common as before. However, many Alterrans who found out about it were extremely aghast in their stead.

They would yell "stop this racist shit!" or something like that, though the goblins had no idea what that meant.

Anyway, the times Linlin nearly got into a fight when someone was mean to them were more than their fingers combined.

"I wonder when Linlin will visit us, she said she would," Hoho mumbled as he rearranged the new rock sculpture on the center table. It was something he fiddled with last night when they arrived. He was just so excited and couldn’t sleep, so he ended up taking his carving tools out of his space.

The sculpture was about a foot high with a rough form of Linlin, raising one arm as if ready to fight. She was surrounded by many little goblins smaller than her waist, also raising their hands, and also ready to fight. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

He was now in one of the Goblin Dormitories in the Town. In Iron Mountains, there were more goblins so it wasn’t a surprise they had their own place. However, that was more like many of the people there simply did not want to mingle with them. Them moving out of the dormitories and into where humans were would often be met with deep frowns from the locals.

The Alterrans were nice to them, but they’d usually be living in better-off neighborhoods simply because they all had their own businesses planned out before they dared venture into a new territory. They also had a lot of subsidies as rewards for migrating.

In contrast, the aborigines remained where they were. If the Goblins did make enough money to get their own spaces, then they would only be able to afford those houses near aborigine humans, which could cause quite a bit of conflict.

It felt a little different in Alterra. Here, they’d be welcome anywhere they wished to stay, even if they were the only goblins in the building.

Because they had so many goblins now, they occupied two dormitory buildings, and they were free to modify them according to their needs.

When a space was occupied by a group with shared needs and likes, it was inevitable that it’d transform. Althea simply made things easier and more comfortable for them.

In these dormitories, the canteen tables were outfitted to their heights, with low-height circular tables and mushroom-themed stools.

There was also an added mezzanine seating area because the ceiling height allowed them to. Their railing was also cute, with a carved motif carved by the first goblin settlers.

Like in many places around the dormitory, these goblins might’ve also added some of their own stories and those that they knew, creating somewhat of a historical display inside the dwelling.

One could imagine how different the place looked, with the goblins half the size of humans, sitting on mushroom-themed seats. It was very cute.

One of the chefs there, who had been training some goblin chefs, had taken pictures with her phone (there were charging stations around the territory now) and then sent them via bluetooth to all her roommates. Suffice it to say, they were popular images passed around, with soft-hearted humans squealing over them.

They also added low furniture made of rocks in the common area. They also increased their size and added little climbable nooks to accommodate them well. These ’chairs’ would look like multi-level seats, much like how it was in plenty of the cave dwellings. They could sit down on a seat above ground all while chattering with those below.

There was also another room on the ground floor that served as a workshop of sorts. It could accommodate at least a dozen goblins working at the same time.

What were they working on? Stone sculptures, of course!

The goblins were quite the stone crafters. After all, their specialties had been in mining and the manipulation of rocks.

Although their craft was not up to the standards of the Terrans (yet), they were malleable and improved in time. And because they were such passionate little creatures, their improvement could also be said to be rising like a rocket.

There were even sculptor citizens gaining contribution points by teaching the goblins what they knew about stone sculpting. This increased the quality of their works, and some more talented ones were already showing signs of potentially creating Terran-quality works.

When the goblins mastered this, it was estimated that Alterra would be littered with beautiful stone sculptures and intricate designs.

By then, the goblins would’ve left their marks in the territory itself—and what an accomplishment that would be!
