After Transmigrating into a Novel with My Boyfriend, He Turned Out to Be a Native Villain-Chapter 111: Buying a Gift
In his past life, Bo Jingmo was constantly plagued by bloody, terrifying nightmares, with episodes happening very frequently. And Yu Li’s solution had always been simple and straightforward—using an adult method to distract him.
And as it turned out, it worked pretty well.
But before he met Yu Li, Bo Jingmo said he’d already had this kind of nightmare many times. And sometimes, they weren’t just violent or gory.
There would be people in his dreams who mocked and belittled him, deliberately degrading his very existence, insulting his actions and his abnormal abilities.
Yet those same people in the dreams would push him into breaking down—telling him to hold back while setting him up to lose control and kill.
So in his past life, Bo Jingmo had very few dreams that were normal or happy. Which is why, when she heard him say he had a good dream, Yu Li felt a bit dazed.
It was like something was stuck in her chest—or pressing on it. She didn’t know what to say. Her heart filled with a helpless sort of amusement… and a faint ache.
The system could already sense Yu Li’s bad mood—let alone Bo Jingmo, who had noticed something was off with her the moment they were in the car. But seeing her resting with her eyes closed, he didn’t say anything to disturb her.
Even after they got into the mall, he couldn’t help but purse his lips and ask, “Are you a little carsick?”
“Hm?” Yu Li had been looking at the stores around them and didn’t immediately get why Bo Jingmo was suddenly asking that.
Turning to meet his gaze, she realized he must’ve noticed her unusual behavior in the car. She paused, then gave a soft laugh. “No, you drive really smoothly. I just… when you mentioned dreams, I think I remembered a bit of mine from last night too.”
Now it was Bo Jingmo’s turn to freeze. He stood there, stiff, emotions swirling in his eyes, his voice husky and low: “You… remembered?”
“Not the details,” Yu Li smiled at him. “Just that it was… probably a good dream too.”
The man looked stunned for a moment, but then the corners of his lips lifted slightly. “That’s good.”
As long as it was a good dream.
Bo Jingmo took Yu Li to the store he’d checked out in advance. The moment they walked in, the staff welcomed them warmly.
“Hello, welcome! What are you two looking for today?”
The toys in this shop were mostly custom-made and quite pricey. Yu Li had already spotted the shocking prices on the sign by the door.
It felt like her paycheck was already gone before she even started working.
Not that she was stingy about money—but she wasn’t just here to buy a gift for the kid today.
She looked around, just about to speak, when the man next to her beat her to it: “I already placed an order this morning.”
Both Yu Li and the store clerk were momentarily surprised. Then the clerk’s eyes lit up with recognition. “You’re Mr. Bo, right? I’ve already prepared your order.”
She quickly went behind the counter and brought out a beautifully wrapped box, handing it to him. “Here’s the gift you ordered this morning.”
Bo Jingmo gestured toward the gift in his hand and said to Yu Li, lips pressed together, “You can just give him this.”
To most people, that would seem kind of rude.
Yu Li had come here specifically to choose a gift for the kid, but Bo Jingmo had taken it upon himself to buy one already—without even asking for her opinion.
Bo Jingmo knew it was a bit out of line too, but by the time he realized it, he’d already made the call and ordered it.
He didn’t like Yu Li spending her time and energy on people who didn’t matter.
Seeing her staring at him, his hand holding the gift tightened slightly. He was about to give the explanation he’d already come up with, when Yu Li’s eyes curved and she let out a laugh.
She teased, “Senior, if this keeps up, that money you transferred me barely got warm before I’m handing it right back.”
Seeing she wasn’t mad, Bo Jingmo breathed a silent sigh of relief and smiled. “It’s fine. Just count it toward your future salary.”
Yu Li took the gift box and raised her eyebrows. “Deal. You really helped me out—picking gifts is seriously not my thing.”
No questions, no irritation, just a compliment instead. Bo Jingmo’s mood visibly lifted.
The corners of his lips tugged up slightly. Seeing it wasn’t time for dinner yet, he was just about to suggest they look around some more when the girl spoke up slowly:
“But, what I’m buying next… you’re not allowed to help.”
Bo Jingmo paused. Buying something else?
He followed Yu Li to the entrance of another store and glanced up at the sign.
“You’re buying perfume?”
At some point, the gift bag had naturally ended up back in Bo Jingmo’s hand. Yu Li, now empty-handed, stepped into the store and asked the clerk something in a low voice. Then she turned and smiled at him. “Yep. It’s also for someone else.”
The clerk led Yu Li to a display counter. Just as she was about to introduce the products, Yu Li politely declined. “It’s okay. We’ll just look around. You can go help the other customers.”
The clerk blinked, glanced at Bo Jingmo following behind, and thought to herself, What a good-looking couple. Still, she smiled politely. “Of course. Just let me know if you need anything.”
Bo Jingmo watched as the girl picked up scent strips, testing one after another against her nose. Worried about mixing up the scents, she paused between each sample.
Her lashes hung low, and her face was full of patience and focus. Bo Jingmo found himself staring—but at the same time, another thought crept into his mind.
...Who was the perfume for?
He stepped a bit closer and asked casually, “Is it for a friend’s birthday or something?”
Yu Li had been testing a fragrance and looked up when she heard him. “No.”
She seemed to catch a scent she liked. Her eyes curved slightly, and she sprayed a little on her wrist.
While the perfume settled, she explained, “It’s for the friend I mentioned before—the one I told you about.”
Mentioned before?
They hadn’t met that many times. What friend...

Suddenly, something clicked in Bo Jingmo’s mind. A memory surfaced vividly.
‘...You had a crush on someone in the game?’
‘Yeah. I still like them. But we’ve never met offline. No idea when we will.’
So... this perfume was for that online friend she’d never met?
They were finally going to meet in person??
Or... were they already together??
The thought made Bo Jingmo’s pupils shrink. A wave of panic surged in his chest, like his heart was being squeezed, making it hard to breathe. For a second, his mind went dizzy.
By the time he snapped out of it, Yu Li had already picked the perfume and gone to the counter to pay.
Bo Jingmo wanted to follow, but it felt like his feet were rooted to the floor, like vines had wrapped around them. He couldn’t move. All he could do was watch her walk back, holding the bag.
His eyes dropped to her hand. His expression turned shadowed. When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse and layered with something he couldn’t quite define. His fingers gripped the gift bag so hard they turned white.
“This is… for that online friend of yours?”
He hadn’t even let Yu Li choose a gift for that kid—
But now, she’d personally picked one out for that man?
