Alpha Razor King-Chapter 124: Beta Ken.
**Isabella**
"What are we going to do?" Cross asked, glancing anxiously at the door.
The knocking was growing more frantic by the second. We had to act fast.
"Sally, are you there? Open up!" a voice called from outside.
So her name was Sally. I guessed that was her husband Lance calling for her.
"How many of them do you think are out there?" I whispered to Dan.
"I’m not sure, but judging from their footsteps, I think maybe five," Dan replied.
Just then, the stupid man who had led us here made for the door, but thankfully, Cross caught his arm and pulled him back roughly. Immediately, Dan snapped his neck before he could scream and alert his people.
I turned to Sally, who was being held firmly by one of my men. "Do you have any back door?" I demanded.
She shook her head. "No, there’s no back door."
"Then show us a place to hide," I ordered sharply.
Sally glanced around nervously before gesturing towards a door at the far end of the room. "There’s a cellar. It’s hidden under the pantry floor."
"Show us," I insisted.
Dan pulled the man up and carried him as Sally led us to the pantry. She moved a heavy rug aside and revealed a trapdoor. One of my men pulled it open, revealing a set of narrow stairs leading down into the cellar.
"I don’t think it’s a good idea," Cross snorted, glancing down at the dark cellar.
"He’s right," I nodded, agreeing with Cross before turning my attention to Sally. "I thought your husband wasn’t supposed to be here."
"He probably forgot something, I’m certain," Sally replied.
"Listen, Sally," I said firmly, "you’re going to go out there and cook up an excuse for wasting time. We’re going to hide here and wait for an opportunity to get out of here."
She nodded her head slowly, clearly terrified.
"If you try anything stupid, I swear you’ll regret it," Dan warned as he motioned for her to leave.
Sally took a deep breath and walked towards the door. We quickly moved back into the shadows, watching as she opened the door and stepped out into the living room.
"Spray the cologne," I reminded Dan, who took out the bottle from his jacket and began spraying it all over the room. We needed to do this to conceal our scent.
A few seconds later, we heard the front door finally open.
"Sally, where the hell have you been? Beta Ken and I have been knocking for minutes," Lance’s voice boomed angrily.
"I’m sorry, Beta Ken, I was busy arranging some supplies in the basement," Sally replied, trying to sound composed.
"Supplies? At this time?" Lance growled.
"I know, I just needed to make sure everything was arranged," she managed to keep her voice steady.
Lance grunted, seemingly satisfied for the moment. "What about the pup?"
I felt my arms tighten around Nathan’s tiny body. That bastard had the effrontery to talk about my baby.
"Still out," Sally responded.
"Alright, I told you it was under control, Beta Ken," Lance said.
Ken hummed thoughtfully. "I guess, but did any strange people come here?"
"No, Beta Ken," her voice shook slightly. I hoped he didn’t pick up on it.
"Fine then," Ken replied, "let’s go to the basement to get the pup."
My heart raced. We needed a new plan, and quickly. I signaled to Dan and the rest, gesturing for them to move further into the shadows. We needed to be ready for whatever came next.
Footsteps echoed as Sally led the men toward the basement door. The footsteps paused suddenly. "Do you smell that?" Ken asked.
"Smell what?" Lance replied.
"It smells like... cologne," Ken said suspiciously.
Damn, I thought. We must have overdone it with the whole cologne thing.
"Must be the supplies," Sally replied quickly, trying to divert their attention. "Some of them might have spilled."
Ken sighed loudly. "Let’s just get the pup and go."
They opened the basement door, and we heard them descending the stairs.
"Here’s our chance now," I whispered to my men. We quickly exited the room quietly and walked out of the house. Thankfully, only three men were present. Dan easily killed them and motioned for us to run.
After a few seconds, we were at the gate. We encountered a man there, whom Cross killed before Dan opened the gate for us. Immediately after we stepped out, we heard a loud voice cry, "Get them, don’t let them escape!"
My heart pounded as we sprinted into the forest, the trees providing a dark cover. The sound of pursuing footsteps grew louder, and I knew we had to find a way to lose them quickly.
"This way!" Dan whispered urgently, veering off the main path. We followed him through the underbrush, our breaths heavy with exertion. The shouts behind us were getting closer, and I could hear the thudding of their boots on the forest floor.
Suddenly, an arrow flew across and pierced the heart of one of our men. He fell to the ground instantly.
"Keep going!" Dan ordered. I held my baby tightly and kept pushing forward. But two more arrows flew, taking out another two of our men.
"Stop, or we’ll shoot the lady," Ken’s voice boomed, followed by another arrow that narrowly brushed my leg. I froze instantly, panting hard.
"That’s right. Now turn around," Ken ordered. I glanced at Dan before turning to face the bastard.
"Who do we have here?" Ken chuckled as he drew closer with his men. They were about fifty in number, way more than my men.
Cross moved closer to me, holding my hand, while Dan stood protectively in front of us.
"All I need is the baby. Then you can all leave," Ken sneered.
"Shut the hell up!" I yelled at him. "I’m not giving you my son."
"Your son?" Ken’s brow rose in mock surprise. "He’s no longer yours, but mine."
Anger surged through me, and I tightened my grip on Nathan. "Over my dead body," I hissed.
But he laughed. "That can be arranged," he said, signaling his men to advance.
Dan stepped forward, holding out a blade. "You want the baby? You’ll have to go through us first."
Ken smirked, drawing a sword from his side. "So be it."
A tense silence fell over the clearing. My men tightened their grips on their weapons, ready to defend us to the death. Ken’s men did the same, forming a semi-circle around us.
"Last chance," Ken said sharply. "Hand over the baby."
"Never," I spat angrily.
Ken’s eyes narrowed. "Then prepare to die." And with that, chaos erupted. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Ken’s men surged forward, weapons raised. Dan, Cross, and the remaining men fought fiercely, trying to hold them back. I clutched Nathan tightly, praying for a miracle.
An arrow whizzed past my ear, embedding itself in a tree. I ducked, shielding Nathan with my body. Dan fought like a man possessed, cutting down anyone who got too close. Cross stayed by my side, fending off attackers. But we were outnumbered and outmatched.
Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a piercing howl echoed through the forest. Ken’s men paused, looking around in confusion. Another howl followed, closer this time.
"Alpha Razor!" someone shouted from afar, followed by a chorus of painful screams.
My heart leapt with joy. My husband was here; I could smell his alluring scent, and it brought immediate relief.
Ken’s face twisted in fear. "Retreat! Fall back!" he ordered, but it was too late. A flying sword flew through the air, cutting off the head of one of his men.
