Chapter 227: 227-The Seductress Got Seduced

Kash:

"Oh, you’re up already?" she exclaimed in excitement, rising from the couch. "Come watch a movie with us."

She walked toward me, her arm already lifting to link with mine again.

I shifted sideways before she could touch me.

"I was thinking of checking the pack grounds," I explained. "Just to have a look around, if that’s alright."

Lord Ronald gave an approving nod. He looked tired and ready to go to bed.

"Already working," he remarked with pride. "That is a responsible Alpha King."

His comment made Lara smile brightly.

"See? My husband never stops," she said.

Then she turned toward her father to add, "Okay, Dad, we will go—"

"I’ll go alone," I interrupted gently.

Both of them looked at me.

At that point, I could tell Lara was growing anxious with me. I had been dismissing her too many times, and one of these times she would call me out on it. So I had to come up with a quick excuse.

"If Lara comes with me," I added, glancing at her with a faint smile, "I will be too distracted by her beauty."

Her expression softened almost immediately. She stepped closer and tapped my chest lightly.

"Stop," she said softly.

I reached up and pinched her cheek in an affectionate gesture.

"Don’t wait up," I told her warmly. "I won’t be long. When I come back, we will take a walk on the royal grounds, okay, my beautiful mate?"

My words made her nod with a pleased expression on her face.

Then I walked away, straight toward the exit.

I drove one of the cars out through the side exit, nodding at the warrior station near the gates.

"I’ll look around the outer grounds, okay? You don’t need to follow me," I told them, giving a hand gesture.

They stepped aside, trusting my authority. Now they knew I was the Alpha King, so they followed my orders.

I drove steadily until the mansion disappeared from the mirrors. Then I took a longer road that curved toward the old forest path.

I parked far from the entrance of the tunnel and shut off the engine. The night air felt colder there. I stepped out, closed the door quietly, and walked the rest of the way.

When I was certain no one was following me, I slipped into the tunnel entrance.

The air changed almost immediately. Inside, the tunnel was dark, but the blue river in the middle cast a faint glow that reflected along the ceiling.

I kept moving, feeling the agitation in me, remembering the last time we met. She must be very angry. She must hold grudges too. But it was important for me to get that pearl for Iris. I did not think she could stay sick for much longer.

My chest felt tight the deeper I went. Finally, the sound of water grew louder, and I realized I had reached the end.

The area ahead was already lit. Blue light shimmered across the stones and faded into the air.

I stepped out, scanning the place. My eyes narrowed in confusion.

Then a voice drifted through the air.

"Oh, you’re back."

I turned toward the sound and noticed a faint bubbling in the water. There was a hint of bitterness in her tone this time.

Water rippled in front of me. Bubbles rose to the surface, growing faster and louder as she emerged from the water. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Her platinum blonde hair clung to her shoulders, shining under the blue glow. Her face was different this time. Anger filled her blue eyes. She did not smile, and she did not move seductively like before.

"I don’t think you came here to apologize for last time," she grunted, taking shallow breaths.

I took a slow breath and gave her a small smile.

"I think you’re upset," I commented.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes, turning away as she swam in a circle. Then she came back toward the edge, rising higher out of the water.

I stepped back immediately. She had come too close.

"Don’t lie to me," she snapped. "You brought another woman and claimed she was your mate. Then you saved her when you were supposed to leave her here."

"You wanted me to watch my mate die?" I asked.

She grunted loudly. "She was not your mate," she snapped.

"Well, not yet," I said, lifting my hands slightly. "You told me she wasn’t my mate. So why did you want to keep her? She wasn’t the one you wanted."

Her eyes narrowed as she tried to understand what I was saying.

"You told me to bring you my mate," I continued. "She is my mate."

My words made her let out a loud, angry sound, and she surged toward me again, water splashing hard against the stone. I had to step back as she closed the distance.

"Do you think you can lie to me?" she shouted. "She’s not your mate. Your mate is the woman you brought before. I could smell the mate bond on her."

"Who? Iris?" I asked.

She lunged again, but this time I moved forward instead of back and caught her arm.

She froze as I pulled her closer, dragging her partially out of the water. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at me. Her skin was icy cold, yet I held her arms firmly.

"Iris and I are no longer together," I said firmly. "Yes, we are fated mates, but that is in the past. We are no longer in love with each other."

I held her arms steady as water dripped down her skin.

"Lara is the one I was going to marry," I continued. "If you want, I can bring her here. I can show you that she now carries my mark."

I pulled her slightly closer and noticed her anger falter. Her breathing slowed, and her eyes began to look at me more dreamily. She pressed herself lightly against me, as if drawn to my dominance.
