Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 296-Stepping Up
Lara:
"Good. You did very well," I told Markus on the call.
Once again, I stood in front of the mirror. I was getting ready because I knew everything was in my hands now.
"I will speak with Lady Vivian. Once I get all the information, I will let you know, okay? Stay connected with me through text messages, but make sure Iris doesn’t see them," I told him before cutting the call.
That was when Lady Vivian arrived.
I had left the door open, as I always did. It was my way of showing her that I did nothing private in my room. I was not like Iris. It was not necessary, but it was an extra step to make sure I appeared genuine and non-problematic.
I sat down for a moment.
"Oh, good. You’re already ready? You look beautiful," Lady Vivian remarked, looking at the black dress I had changed into, as if I had worn it only to appear presentable.
"Thank you. I was just going through my dresses, and I thought I would wear something nicer. When Kash sees me like this, the entire day’s tiredness will leave his body," I replied with a bright smile, fidgeting with my fingers to show how shy I felt even mentioning his name.
When I looked up, I saw a sour expression on Lady Vivian’s face. A sudden doubt crept into my mind.
"Here is you, and then there is Iris. She does not care about my son’s happiness," she said.
The sorrow in her voice drew a faint smirk to my lips. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Oh no, what did she do now? Why do you look so sad?" I asked Lady Vivian, mirroring her expression and forcing a pout onto my lips to appear innocently clueless.
Every time she looked at me and noticed how nonchalant yet adorably empty-headed I seemed, her eyes would shine with something close to adoration.
Little did she know, once I achieved my goal, she would be the one leaving this mansion in disgrace.
I was counting the days on my fingers. I had truly gone out of my way to please these two witches. One of them had already slipped from my grip, and I had a feeling that once Lady Vivian did, she would be worse to me than Zoe.
So I had to get rid of them before they got rid of me.
"Kash called," Lady Vivian sighed. "He wanted Iris to join him for a meeting at a café, but guess what that arrogant woman said?"
She hissed the last part, her body trembling with anger as she recalled Iris’s words.
"I am sure she said something insensitive," I uttered, frowning sadly, as if disappointed in Iris and her behavior toward the man who had fought everyone for her.
"Yes. She said she wouldn’t go because Kash did not inform her beforehand and that she has something more important to do than waste time with my son," Lady Vivian snapped, recalling Iris’s words in one breath and letting out an irritated grunt.
I gasped and covered my mouth with both hands to show how disrespectful it sounded.
"Please tell me you did not tell Kash. He would be so upset," I said.
It seemed as though I had planted a seed in her mind. She quickly grabbed her phone and dialed Kash’s number.
"No, please, Lady Vivian, don’t do that," I murmured weakly, reaching for the phone to stop her, but the call had already connected.
She put it on speaker.
"Yes, Mother. I hope you spoke with Iris and told her I’m waiting for her at Pack’s Café," Kash said from the other end, making my heart beat faster.
Every time I heard his voice, I felt alive. He was incredible. Iris was a fool to focus more on Zoe instead of cherishing what she had with Kash. Still, it was working in my favor, so why would I complain?
"I spoke with Iris and gave her your message," Lady Vivian replied. She paused before adding, "She said you should have informed her beforehand. She left the children at daycare because she has something important to do, something more important than spending time with you. Apparently, you should have asked for her availability first."
Her tone alone was enough to make Kash grunt from the other side.
"What are you saying? She told you she doesn’t want to come?" Kash asked sharply.
"If you don’t believe me, you’re in luck. When she started being rude, I decided to record the conversation. I’ll send you the recording so you can hear exactly what she said," Lady Vivian stated before ending the call.
I stood beside her silently, watching her send the recording to Kash. The moment she pressed send, she looked up at me.
For the first time, I felt uneasy around her. I had never expected her to record calls. That changed everything.
When she played the recording for me, even I was surprised. All that just because Iris wanted to plan a surprise for Zoe? Or was it because she was upset that Kash had imprisoned her friend Luca and refused to believe in his innocence?
Whatever the reason, it worked in my favor. Iris was sabotaging her own relationship with Kash, and I was more than willing to let it happen.
As soon as the recording was delivered and heard, Kash called his mother again.
"Do you want me to call her once more?" Lady Vivian asked, her tone edged with mockery.
"No need."
Kash’s voice carried the authority of an Alpha King who no longer cared.
"If Lara is feeling well and doesn’t have anything important to do, tell her to join me for the meeting instead of Iris."
He spoke in a voice that suggested he was done with Iris, as though he was finally realizing he should have chosen me instead.
Lady Vivienne lifted her head as I began to nod.
"Please inform him that I’ll be there whenever he wants," I said.
My words made Lady Vivienne smile. It was a mean smile, the kind that proved she believed her son finally had a mate who genuinely cared for and loved him.
