Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 234: Marriage in a Past Life 1
Darkness enveloped Elijah, and his body kept falling into the dark abyss. He knew that he was dying, and he knew that when he died he would never go to what is called heaven.
But where is the place? Hell?
Suddenly his already descending body stopped in mid-air. A faint white light tore through the great web of darkness, and in that white light he saw a silhouette appear.
The figure grew in the white light, which presently chased away the surrounding darkness. Elijah looked up, and saw a woman standing in the white light. The woman’s body was dressed in a silver and white dress, her bare skin was as white as the moonlight, and her long light blonde hair flowed behind her.
She was beautiful, frightfully beautiful.
" Lift your head, my son." The woman’s voice seemed heavenly, and her golden eyes held an invisible majesty.
" Who are you?" Elijah looked up at the woman standing in the white beam of light.
" I am your mother." The woman replied.
" No." Elijah shook his head in denial, "You are not my mother."
"All werewolves are my children." the woman said, "including you. " The woman said, "including you."
Elijah realized, "You are Luna."
The woman smiled and nodded.
"Where is this place? Why am I here?" Elijah asked in confusion.
" This is an endless abyss," Luna said.
" endless abyss?" Elijah had never heard that word before. " Is it hell?" He asked.
Luna shook her head gently, her eyes scrutinizing Elijah, " Do you realize what a mistake you’ve made?"
"Me? " Elijah smiled bitterly," So you’re here to judge me, right?"
"Answer my question. " Luna’s tone was calm and powerful.
"What did I do wrong? " Elijah hung his head low, having trouble speaking.
"You brutalized your fellow man, forsaking your werewolf oath to be with the darkness. " Luna looked directly at Elijah, "You have done too many unforgivable wrongs."
"But I had no choice." Elijah said resignedly, " I was born to be a lone wolf, I have no lover and have never been loved. I have never been loved, nor was I ever loved. I have only been plundered and killed once in my life. This is my destiny, destined from the time I was born."
" Do you know why you are a lone wolf?" Luna asked.
" Why? " Elijah’s eyes were filled with doubt.
"Everything is cause and effect."
"I don’t understand what you mean?"
Luna sighed softly, " When you see what happened in your past life, you will understand."
"My past life?"
Elijah’s words were barely out of his mouth when he felt only that the white light before his eyes was growing more and more blinding, as if an invisible force were instantly drawing him into some unknown space.
..............
Back 100 years in time.
Galaxy pack
Early in the morning Eric was standing outside the house, quietly watching the men busy at their work. Some of them would stop and greet him as they passed, and he would smile in return.
One night about a month ago, Eric was lying wounded near the exit of the pack. A kind girl on patrol found him and took him back to the pack to heal. Afterward, he lied to the girl about his injuries, which he said were caused by a hooligan attack. The girl believed him, and then begged the alpha of the pack to take him in.
Alpha did not refuse the girl’s request; she was, after all, his favorite daughter. Soon Eric not only became good friends with the girl, he gained the Alpha’s trust.
All this, however, was only part of Eric’s scheme. In fact, his true identity is that of the youngest son of Alpha of the Red Star pack. His father had long wanted to annex the Galaxy Pack, but it had always been difficult to raid because of the peculiar terrain in which it was located. So Eric comes up with a ruse to get inside the Galaxy Pack, and then finds an opportunity to join forces with his father to take down the Galaxy Pack.
But before he could dismantle the Galaxy pack, he had to learn the terrain of the Galaxy pack. So every morning, when he was out walking, he deliberately stole into the vicinity of the pack to observe it.
Eric pretended to walk around the pack as if nothing had happened, and presently he came to the border of the pack. He followed the stream as far as the woods on the border.
Just as Eric was about to plot the topography of the woods on the mental map in his head, a slight noise interrupted his thoughts.
The sound seemed to come from above him, so he cautiously raised his head and looked upward. It was only to see a girl sitting on the forked trunk of a giant tree, her brown hair flowing gently like a wave of wheat under the gentle ruffling of the breeze, and the strands glistening with a warm brown sheen. The sunlight, streaming through the narrow crevices between the dense foliage, gave the girl a golden outline, and flecks of light danced on her pale green dress as if it were a nimble spirit.
At that moment the girl’s head fell, and she looked down at Eric with eyes as clean and blue as the sky.
" Evelyn," Eric greeted the girl gently.
The girl smiled faintly before springing lightly from the trunk of the tree. She landed firmly in front of Eric, and a faint scent of flowers wafted into his nostrils, a scent that came from the girl’s body.
"What are you doing here Eric?" Evelyn asked, curiosity in those beautiful blue eyes.
"I just came here on a walk. " Eric lied.
"Are you completely healed?" Evelyn asked with concern.
" I’m pretty much healed." Eric replied.
" Look at you now." Evelyn looked him up and down, " When I first found you outside the pack, I thought you were dying."
"Thanks to you, I’m alive and well now. " Eric smiled. It was Evelyn who had saved him in the first place, the innocent, good-natured girl who had no defence against any one.
"What were you doing in the tree? " Eric asked.
Evelyn sighed, she deflated, "I wasn’t happy."
"Who upset you?"
"My father. " Evelyn said, "He said if I hadn’t met my mate by the day I turned eighteen, he would pick a husband for me within the pack."
" You haven’t met your mate yet?"
Evelyn shook her head as she leaned her back against the thick trunk of a tree, her eyes flashed with a hint of loss, " I’ll be eighteen next week."
"Don’t worry, some werewolves don’t meet their mate until later." Eric reassured her, "I’m twenty and I haven’t met my mate either."
"But Sophie met her mate when she was sixteen." Evelyn countered, "And Danny and Caroline, they both met their mate before they turned eighteen."
"You don’t turn eighteen for another week. " Eric said, "Be patient, I’m sure you’ll meet your mate."
"Maybe. " Evelyn’s eyes lowered, "What kind of man do you think my mate will be?"
"Who knows. " Eric said.
" Maybe he’ll be an Alpha of noble birth, maybe he’ll be a Beta. At any rate, he will not be anything like me. " He laughed to himself.
Evelyn looked up, she looked at Eric, " What if, I mean what if, what if my mate is like you?"
"Me? " Eric didn’t expect Evelyn to ask such a question, he thought for a moment, "If your MATE is a man like me, you can either reject him or accept him."
"No. I won’t reject my MATE." Evelyn said stubbornly, "Even if he has nothing, or if he’s just an Omega wolf, I won’t reject him because of who he is. I trust Luna’s arrangement."
"Really? " Eric laughed at Evelyn’s childish thoughts. If Evelyn ʼ s MATE was indeed a lowly Omega Wolf, the alpha would never allow his daughter to marry such a man.
Evelyn bit her lower lip lightly and was silent for a moment.
"Eric." Evelyn’s voice was soft.
"Yes."
"If my mate is a man like you, " Evelyn whispered more and more, "What if my mate is you?"
Eric froze. Quickly, he looked back, then shook his head straight." No. That’s not possible."
"Why is it impossible?"
"You are the daughter of an Alpha, so noble. " Eric said, "You deserve a better man."
"You——" Evelyn gasped, "Eric, you don’t know anything."
she said, and turned to leave, leaving Eric where he was.
Eric looked at Evelyn’s far-off back, and he bowed his head helplessly and sighed deeply.
How could I fail to understand you, Evelyn? But I cannot like you, you deserve a better man.
Eric continued to walk deeper into the woods. He wanted to go on mapping the topography of the woods in his mind’s eye. But no matter how hard he tried, the mental map he had memorized remained blank. His thoughts were in a whirl.
That’s when he sensed his wolf was stirring. "Quiet, Duke. " Eric tried to control his wolf, but his wolf was getting more and more manic.
That’s what it feels like...
No, that can’t be true.
