Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 63: Brandon’s Message
She sat on one of the chairs in the study chamber ready to continue her story. Her husband had gone to his strategy chamber already. She turned when she saw a huge he-wolf dressed in a black suit standing in the entryway.
"Good morning, Luna. You sent for me," he said.
"You are the visitor’s administrator, right?"
"Yes, Luna."
"Sit," she said, pointing at one of the chairs.
She swiveled her chair to face him after a few minutes of going through her story.
"I checked the visitor’s management system a few minutes ago and found out it’s digital—the best visitor’s system that made awkward meetings a thing of the past. Please, I want to be notified when a visitor signs in to see me or my alpha."
"The notification is automatic, Luna."
"Good, when it is sent, always wait for approval before allowing the visitors to move ahead. Please, I don’t want to ever see unapproved visitors here."
"We don’t allow visitors to move beyond the gate without approval from the alpha or Luna."
"The she-wolves that visited this morning, who approved their visit?"
"The alpha told us to always allow them. They don’t sign in and out like other visitors."
"Why?" She asked, pretending not to be surprised.
"He found out they were spies."
"Spies?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"I don’t know."
"Who told him they were spies?"
"Luna, I think you should ask him."
"By spies, you mean someone sent them to spy on him?"
"Yes."
"For what!! And why would he allow them?"
"I don’t know, Luna," he responded and lowered his head.
She kept quiet and began to think about the whole thing. She recalled what the she-wolves told her the first time she saw them. Probably, his imaginary mate sent them to monitor him and see if he was being unfaithful to her.
"Oh, is this why they always come in the morning?" She smiled and waved at him.
"That would be all."
"Thank you," he said and stood up.
She swiveled her chair again and pulled her device, which was ringing closer. She looked at the caller, it was her mother. She quickly accepted the incoming call.
"Moonrise, mother."
"Emma, your father, and Lunara are not here now. If you want to see me, you can come right away."
"Alright, I’m coming," she said happily and stood up.
"Please, come with your husband. I want to know him."
"That won’t be possible, mother."
"Why?"
"He has gone to his work chamber already."
"Fine, come with his pictures."
"Why?" She asked, frowning a bit.
They never cared about whom she is mated to. Why did she suddenly care?
"I want to see the face of the he-wolf that my she-wolf is mated to!"
"Your she-wolf?" She asked.
"Just come alone if he can’t come with you. I’ll surely meet him one day."
"I’m coming right away."
She ran to the cookhouse, but Bernard was not there. She hit his chamber button on the intercom remote.
"Bernard, please call the driver; I’m going out now!"
"You’re going with two guards, Luna."
"Fine!" She said and hurried up the stairs.
She quickly changed into a simple, gorgeous gown and stepped out. Three exotic vehicles were set already. Two guards stood beside the doors of one of the vehicles. Naomi and Paige were standing beside another vehicle.
"Naomi! Paige!"
"We are going with you, Luna."
"Alright," she said and walked towards the first vehicle.
The driver was already in the vehicle waiting for her.
"Brandon, I’m going out," she said with a childish tone.
There was a short silence and she understood he didn’t want her to go out.
"Where are you going?" his calm voice came across the line after a few seconds.
"My mother called and asked me to come and see her."
"Oh, she got the message too," he smirked and his voice came clearly across the line again.
"Please, go with two guards, don’t fight with anyone, and be cautious of what you say to them. They are dubious."
"I’m going with two guards and I’m not going to fight with anyone. Please, what message did she receive? Did you send any message to her?"
"Very good! Please, be careful for me, Moonblessed. You know I love you..."
"Wait...what message?"
"Check your phone, sweetie," he grinned.
"Alright," she quickly disconnected the call and checked her phone, there was no new message from him or anyone. She smiled and hopped into the vehicle. She couldn’t believe he just tricked her.
They arrived at the healing den and proceeded to mother’s ward. She was surprised to see her father sitting coldly on a chair like someone who lost his mate. She became scared when she looked at mother, lying helplessly on her bed as though she was lifeless.
She quickly ran to her and leaned over trying to see if she was still alive or gone. Mother turned her face slowly and looked at her. She breathed a sigh of relief and sat on a chair beside her bed.
"How are you mother?"
"I’m fine. Have you greeted your father?"
"Good day, father."
"Emma, how are you?"
"I’m fine," she responded reluctantly.
"How is your.... Mate?"
"He is fine."
"You know you are not legally mated to him, right?"
"We are legally mated." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"When?"
"Last moon-cycle."
"You didn’t inform us?"
He asked. She frowned and faced him.
"What do you mean?"
"Aren’t we supposed to know you got mated last moon-cycle? Emma, you spent twenty-one years of your life with us and you didn’t see us as your real parents?"
"Mother, what is he saying?"
"The truth, Emma!"
She stood up immediately and took a sharp breath.
"The last time I checked none of you cared about who I’m mated to! Why do you care all of a sudden? Oh, probably, I came with his guards? Someone must have told you he is an alpha, right?"
"Emma, sit down. We just want to know who you are mated to, that’s all," father said. She bit her lower lip and sat down again.
"Who is your mate?"
"I am mated to the he-wolf you sold me to."
"What is his name?"
"If you want to know his name, check your bank statement."
"I checked and I saw Bernard Crabtree."
"Alright, Bernard Crabtree!"
"Is he your mate?"
"Yes!" She responded.
She noticed they exchanged glances and mother sat upright. She never knew she was strong enough to sit up without aid.
"I didn’t know he is an alpha."
"He paid my blood mother’s debt and refunded you everything you spent on me! Of course, you should have known he isn’t a poor wolf."
"I hope he is treating you well," mother said.
"Very well, mother."
"Alright."
"Can you walk properly?"
"Not yet, but I will be fine."
Father stood up and left the ward as though he had just accomplished his mission. His device was on his ear as he walked. She looked at him and returned her gaze to mother.
The message her husband said popped up in her mind.
"I think I know the message he is talking about. He sent silver to them," she said in her mind.
"Mother, why is he acting nice all of a sudden?" She asked.
"Hasn’t he been nice to you? You are the one who doesn’t appreciate our little efforts!" Mother said angrily.
She guessed they had gotten the information they needed from her and the resentment turned on. She wondered who he was sending the information to. She was glad she didn’t disclose her mate’s identity to them.
"Mother, I’m glad you are okay."
She picked her clutch bag and stood up.
"Remember, your husband has not withdrawn the false statement he made against Lunara. He is yet to reinstate her guards. Please, talk to him. If you can’t talk to him, drop your address, and I’ll come and see him when I’m discharged."
"Don’t worry, I’ll talk to him."
She halted when she saw father coming into the ward again. His expression was quite scary. It was obvious he was up to something and she couldn’t wait to leave the healing den.
"Emma, I want to come and see your husband."
"Well, he...doesn’t receive un...wanted guests. I’ll go back and inform him about your intention to see him."
"Are you hiding anything from us?"
"No," she shrugged.
He looked at mother again and returned his gaze to her.
"Well, Lunara is on her way here. Sit and wait for her."
"Why?"
"She wants to talk to you."
"I don’t want to see her," she said and tried to walk away.
Father held her hand and pulled her back.
"You must see her!" He yelled, still holding her hand.
His sudden outburst frightened her. One of the guards entered the ward and he quickly let go of her. The guard gave him a fierce look. Father began to move backward and fell into a chair.
"Lunara wants to talk to me? Has she forgotten I’m not her sibling? Well, she should keep whatever she had to say for her tomorrow’s show. Emma is not interested!"
She said and dashed off without waving at mother again.
She had the urge to listen to what she wanted to tell her. However, the urge disappeared when she remembered tomorrow was Lunara’s show. She would definitely say whatever she wanted to tell her there. She hated that program, she felt that something is bothering Lunara, and deep down she found herself looking forward to find out.
