Chapter 6: Physical Manifestation

Niara remained completely silent, but Darian, inside her body, could feel the internal agony she was going through. She had probably been in that dungeon for days, already weakened, and now her neck had been nearly sliced in half.

The blood kept flowing nonstop, making her tense.

'Come!'

Suddenly, Darian called out internally.

She felt something strange and opened her eyes. Through the chains, she saw that fallen body on the ground begin to change.

A subtle, black, ethereal line emerged from it. She trembled as she watched it move, sliding toward her chest and sinking in—right where her heart was.

Darian felt immense satisfaction as he devoured it. After all that intensive training, he could now absorb an enemy's power without physical contact—as long as they were already defeated or freshly dead. He had always been able to do this, but he never knew how.

A strange energy coursed through his soul; that man had as much energy as the first abomination he had killed.

The next second, Niara felt her body heat up, and in an instant, all her pain vanished.

'Wha... you... is this... is this a Blessing?!' she asked, her voice filled with shock. 'You were just summoned—how is this possible?'

Darian sighed. 'Probably, yeah. But I have no idea how or why—I just have it.'

'I've... read about this in really old texts. You have a healing Blessing? The last time someone with this ability appeared was in the first generations of the Spiritual Guardians.' Her voice carried a barely hidden excitement—but right after, Darian sensed a subtle anxiety from her.

'I'm a healer?' he murmured, thoughtful. Sure, he could heal, but what he had to do to achieve it was a little... could he REALLY be considered a healer? 'Well, you're gonna have to explain things better so I can be sure. So far, everything I've been told has been pretty vague.'

She nodded internally. 'Sorry. My job was to take you to the Celestia Academy library and explain everything. But don't worry—they're already here.'

Fast footsteps echoed in the distance, catching Darian's attention.

Soon, three figures emerged from the darkness. They were clad in full armor, each holding a spear in one hand and a torch in the other.

They approached and spotted the body on the ground. Instantly, their focus shifted to the chained figure before them, their movements tense.

"That's the man King Jotre spoke of! She killed him!"

One of them shouted, and the other two pointed their spears forward, ready to strike.

Niara remained calm, her eyes locked on them. The soldiers' tension only grew. She was sealed in a way that went beyond the physical—not even her voice could be used, a testament to how careful and fearful they were of her.

Seconds passed, and they realized she wasn't going to attack them. Even so, they didn't lower their spears or step forward. Then, one of them moved his hand behind his back and squeezed something small, shattering it.

A chain near her neck seemed to lose its power.

*Cough, cough.*

She felt her voice return and coughed violently, spitting out the blood that had pooled in her throat. Then, focusing on them, she spoke in a slightly hoarse voice: "I passed the test."

"What fucking test, you demon?! What the hell happened here?! He wasn't supposed to be here and—"

"Are you an idiot?" she cut him off coldly. "Just look at his blade, lying near his body. A little investigation will make it obvious that bastard king sent him here."

"You—"

"Again, I passed the test. I am now a Summoner. You can't keep me here."

Her words finally made the soldier falter.

He turned to the others, and they quickly remembered—she had come alone for the Celestia Academy's Summoning test. They had only managed to capture her because she entered the place willingly and failed the test.

Historically, those who passed always emerged within the first five days—never, in millions of years, had it been different. Since those days had already passed, she, like many others, was considered a failure. That was when, already inside the Academy, King Jotre acted. She was a wanted criminal for centuries, so she was immediately imprisoned.

She calmly added, "You can verify it easily. My Spiritual Guardian is in my spiritual heart."

The second soldier hesitated for a moment and looked at the others, who nodded in agreement. Then, he pulled out a small jade crystal and cautiously stepped forward.

Still at a distance, he extended his arm toward her... and soon, the crystal began to emit a subtle glow.

"This..." he confirmed, shocked.

The source of this c𝐨ntent is freёnovelkiss.com.

Niara scoffed. "Like I said, I'm a Summoner now. By the rules, all my crimes can be paid for with my work. I'm already under Celestia Academy's restrictions."

The three of them took deep breaths, relief washing over them.

Even though she was extremely dangerous, everything had changed now.

After becoming a Summoner, strict rules governed her—if she even slightly broke them, she would explode instantly. There was no risk of her going insane and killing them, or committing more crimes without facing the consequences.

But... those amber eyes still made them uneasy.

Darian finally saw sunlight after Niara was brought up from the depths of the underground.

His attention turned to the sky, where he noticed that this sun's glow was much weaker, or maybe it was just much farther away than Earth's sun. He confirmed it, excited—he was really on another planet.

He had passed the test and could barely contain his excitement. Now, he could finally train in this world and grow stronger.

Niara was escorted by several soldiers, all still holding their weapons and keeping a close eye on her every move.

They made their way toward a massive castle gate. The structure resembled medieval castles from Earth, but it was made entirely of silvery metal, giving it a mystical air.

Inside, Darian's eyes widened as he finally saw people who weren't wearing full suits of armor.

They were humanoid, but some had tails, wings, scales, feathers, or even a mix of these traits.

'Are these... all hybrids of divine or demonic beasts?' Darian wondered, recalling creatures described in that fantasy book.

In the book's world, there was a magical power called Qi everywhere. People absorbed it and became unbelievably powerful. And those two types of beasts existed, being just as intelligent as any human—sometimes even more.

Children between completely different races were born without issues, probably due to their mystical power.

'No, they're all humans... or almost. In my universe, there are no more pure humans. Everyone is like me—since birth, their bloodline has been tainted and mixed with that of a deity.'

The answer made Darian even more curious. He loved reading stories, so he also enjoyed learning about different places. However, he didn't push further, as they soon entered a brightly lit building.

As soon as they stepped inside, the soldiers nodded and withdrew.

A tall, slender woman with black scales approached, staring at Niara. Darian could feel she had the same Divine Dragon lineage, but she was much weaker than Niara.

"This is impossible..." The woman growled, locking eyes with her. It seemed like she could clearly sense Darian inside Niara's body.

After a few seconds, she scoffed, accepting the situation, then turned around. "There's a first time for everything. Anyway, come. We need to complete the contract so your partner can manifest physically."

Niara nodded, and the two walked ahead. Darian, on the other hand, was thrilled to hear that.

They walked through several corridors, passing by many figures. It didn't take long before Darian saw something that made him mentally jump in excitement.

He saw another Spiritual Guardian already physically manifested. Darian could easily tell it wasn't a native—it was someone like him.

What surprised him was that it didn't even resemble a human. It stood three meters tall and looked like a golem made of gold. It was imposing, shining, and flashy. It walked beside a native of this world, who had a furry tail.

Shortly after, he spotted another one—this one looked like a miniature Western dragon with colorful scales, resting on the shoulder of a woman covered in feathers. It was both cool and adorable in his eyes.

Before long, Darian saw countless other different forms of Spiritual Guardians.

'Aren't they all supposed to be from my universe? Why do they look so different?' He asked mentally.

'They are. But a Spiritual Guardian's physical manifestation is something they can choose themselves.'

Niara's explanation made Darian even more excited.

He was just a spirit, so he could choose whatever form he wanted? He could become an imposing man or a legendary monster... all he had to do was decide.

'But... the size and shape depend on the amount of energy and talent of the Summoner...' She interrupted his thoughts with a strange tone, almost as if she was trying to hide something.

Before Darian could ask anything, they entered a large hall.

In the center, there was a glowing circle on the floor. Though it wasn't very big, it shone with multiple colors.

Niara slowly walked to the center of the circle. Once she stopped, she turned to the woman who had brought her here.

The woman spoke dryly, "Just activate the contract with the Spiritual Guardian. This inscription will help pull him out automatically. The rest is up to you."

Niara listened and nodded. Then, she remained silent for three seconds before taking a deep breath and asking mentally:

'Partner, I still don't know your name.'

'Oh, sorry! I'm Darian. I totally forgot to introduce myself.'

She gave a slight nod, not really minding it.

'I'm going to activate the ritual now. You'll feel like you're being expelled from inside me. After that, through our connection, I'll send you as much energy as I can so you can form a physical body. You just need to imagine the form you want... but remember, if you don't have enough energy, it won't work.'

'Got it.' He replied, understanding that he couldn't choose something too absurd.

Niara took another deep breath and clasped her hands together. The next second, the circle beneath her pulsed even more intensely.
