America Tycoon: The Wolf of Showbiz-Chapter 816 - 809: Taylor’s Throat-Soothing Tea
New York, Yankee Stadium.
Martin sat in the seats reserved for friends and family alongside Carly Kloss and Blake Lively, off to one side of the stage.
Blake said loudly, "It's really convenient to get backstage from here!"
The noise from the fans was so loud that Martin couldn't hear what she was saying.
Carly Kloss hugged Martin's arm and leaned in close to his ear, "After the opening song, let's head backstage together."
Martin leaned in too, "Sure." He went straight to the point, "Does Taylor have a plan? This isn't something she can just have whenever she wants."
Carly Kloss understood what Martin meant, "Blake and I will handle the preliminary work for Taylor. She's got limited time after coming off the front stage, enough just for the final sprint."
Martin praised, "You guys really are the best of friends."
Carly Kloss leaned in and gave Martin a firm kiss, "In a little while, once Taylor's tour winds down a bit, we are planning to expand our friend group. You'll have to be ready for the challenge, Martin! Those who don't pass absolutely can't join."
Martin casually asked, "What's the criteria for passing or failing?"
"Since we're the best of friends, of course, we have to share the most wonderful joys," Carly Kloss winked at Martin, "Enjoying joy on the same 'note,' that's the bare minimum, right?"
Blake Lively squeezed through, "Of course, that's the bare minimum! Those who don't want Martin to help nourish their vocal cords, we'll just eliminate them all."
Carly Kloss asked, "So, Martin, are you willing to help us test new friends again?"
Martin answered earnestly, "It's my duty!"
The stage lit up, and a roar rose from behind, a singer's fans far crazier than any movie fanatics, their voices shaking all of New York.
Martin turned to look, and it was just a sea of people.
All die-hard fans.
Even though he preferred country mouse Taylor, the Taylor who had left the village might be on the right path.
Martin remembered that in his past life, Taylor had come close to being a pop superstar.
Maybe after he died in his past life, Taylor already was one.
After all, she was the woman who was said to have an influence on the elections.
Amidst the fireworks shooting up into the sky, Taylor, wearing a sparkling short skirt, officially made her entrance. Compared to the monsters and demons styles of other North American concerts, her look seemed more conservative.
Even with a short skirt right at the thigh, for a female singer at a concert, it was definitely very conservative.
Taylor's every smile and frown seemed to be specially trained, her eyes and eyebrows making her come alive, just like a fox.
Martin, Carly Kloss, and Blake Lively stayed here to listen to the first block of songs from the concert. Carly Kloss tapped his arm and pointed towards the backstage.
Blake Lively pulled him to his feet.
Martin nodded and followed the two towards the backstage.
Once backstage, one of Taylor's female assistants waited at the entrance and led the three into Taylor's dressing room.
Taylor had specifically had the dressing room divided into an inner and outer area, the outer for regular makeup and dressing, the inner for special purposes.
Upon entering the dressing room, Taylor's assistant immediately brought Martin and the others into the inner area.
Outside, Taylor's singing carried through.
Martin checked his watch and said, "Ladies, let's get started quickly."
Carly Kloss replied, "There's still some time before the intermission."
Blake Lively immediately removed all barriers. "Let's hurry, Carly. You know Martin; we need some time."
Carly Kloss followed suit, "Then let's get started. It's not easy for Taylor's throat to last an entire concert. As the world's best friend group, we can't help Taylor onstage, but we can certainly help her offstage!"
Martin had never before played card games with someone at a concert, and in that moment he was exceptionally thrilled; as America's super landlord, he had grasped two American cowgirls in an instant.
For Carly Kloss and Blake Lively, this was also a whole new experience.
As Martin spent his time with the two cowgirls, he suddenly recalled some concert videos he had seen in his past life.
Those rockers were the real deal, like some who would play cards while singing their lungs out at a concert.
There was also a female singer, definitely from America, though he couldn't clearly remember who; during her concert she pulled a male fan onto the stage and sprayed water in his face.
He didn't know how much time had passed when the singing at the front stage stopped, and there was commotion backstage.
Martin knew very well that the short intermission had arrived.
Taylor quickly walked backstage, almost jogging into the dressing room.
Her female assistant hurried over with a water bottle.
Taylor took a small sip and gave her a look.
The leading lady gave a slight nod, gesturing towards the door of the inner area.
Taylor shouted loudly, "Everyone out, I need to rest alone for two minutes!"
This was the longest break during the mid-concert.
Her mother, Andrea Swift, came over holding a cup, placing it on the dresser, "Dear, this is the throat-soothing tea I prepared especially for you. It's very effective."
"I don't need it this time." Taylor closed her eyes, looking tired, and waved her hand gently.
The assistant quickly urged the others to briefly leave the dressing room, giving Taylor some private resting time.
A bunch of people rumbled out again.
The female assistant closed the door and personally guarded it.
Inside the room, Taylor struggled to open her eyes, leaped up from the chair, and dashed toward the inner door.
As she reached the door, her fists pounded on it.
The door opened from the inside, and Carly Kloss moved aside to let her through as Taylor ran toward Martin, crying out as she did, "My throat is burning up, I desperately need help! Hurry and help me!"
Blake Lively also stepped aside.
Taylor charged past, yelling, "Martin!"
The next moment, she couldn't speak.
Two minutes later, the makeup room door opened, and Taylor shouted, "Hurry up and touch up my makeup and change my clothes!"
A group of people gathered around.
Suddenly, the manager said, "Taylor, your voice sounds better than before. Did resting help?"
Taylor responded, "Maybe, I guess."
Andrea Swift patted the kettle, "The throat tea I prepared for Taylor worked, my dear, the taste of this tea..."
She picked up the kettle, the amount utterly unchanged from before, and frowned slightly, muttering under her breath, "Taylor didn't drink the throat tea; how did her voice recover to how it was at the start of the concert?"
None of the others asked any further questions.
Only the lesbian makeup artist closest to Taylor found it strange; when Taylor spoke, her breath had a weird smell, as if she had eaten some seafood.
She curiously glanced at Andrea Swift, thinking, did this lady use seafood mixed with tea leaves to brew throat tea? What kind of secret recipe is this?
After Taylor's makeup was finished and before leaving the makeup room, the female makeup artist specifically sought out Andrea Swift to inquire about the recipe for this special throat tea.
Andrea Swift was quite generous, directly telling her the recipe.
The makeup artist, who had been immersed in the music industry and dealt with many singers, knew that a solo concert was a massive test for any singer.
To protect their throats and vocal cords, singers would try all kinds of bizarre methods.

Seeing Taylor change clothes and return to the stage, the makeup artist moved closer to the stage, listening to Taylor's voice and finding it almost fully restored.
She couldn't help but feel thrilled, thinking this throat tea recipe could fetch a good price within the music industry.
On stage, Taylor Swift shone with dazzling brilliance, her voice captivating, pushing the concert to another climax.
Fans close to the stage could easily notice that Taylor's condition had noticeably improved after a brief rest and her return to the stage.
The manager also found it odd and said to Andrea Swift, "There's a significant improvement from the previous concerts, no signs of voice degradation in the second half."
He was also curious, "Your throat tea is so effective."
"I don't know," shrugged Andrea Swift. "She might've adjusted something herself."
Just after she left, Taylor's assistant, leading Martin, Carly Kloss, and Blake Lively through the corridor, headed back to where their friends and family were.
The manager recognized Carly Kloss and took the initiative to greet her, "Hey, Carly..."
Before he could finish, he saw Martin, stepped forward, and shook hands, "Martin, it's an honor to have you here tonight."
Martin said with a smile, "Taylor and I are good friends. I happened to be filming in New York, so of course, I came to cheer for her."
The manager was polite, "Taylor has praised you more than once, saying you're a source of inspiration for her songwriting."
Martin didn't know how to respond.
Carly Kloss and Blake Lively just kept laughing.
After chatting for a while, Martin's group went back to the VIP area and continued to watch the concert, sitting in their chairs.
Taylor, as if she had taken a stimulant, performed better and better, and the atmosphere at the venue was electrifying.
This was the most successful of all the concerts in her tour.
Carly Kloss grabbed Martin's hand and shouted in his ear, "This concert will become legendary!"
Martin replied, "You've also played a big part."
An hour and a half into the concert, the fans were reluctant to leave, and Taylor had no choice but to return to the stage for an encore.
Backstage, the manager had already prepared champagne for a celebration.
The entire entourage, including friends and family, toasted together.
Subsequently, Taylor found Martin and specifically drank a toast with him, saying, "Thank you for your throat tea; without it, I wouldn't have been in such good shape for the second half."
Martin smiled, "Glad I could help."
Taylor asked, "You're not filming on Sunday, so you should be off, right?"
Martin nodded slightly, "I'm not working tomorrow."
Taylor checked the time and took his hand, "Let's not go back home tonight. With the concert in New York being such a success, we must party all night long!"
Martin took up the offer without hesitation and also called over Carly Kloss and Blake Lively, "Let's go, off to the hotel to celebrate."
The two immediately followed.
The four of them got into Martin's car and, under the cover of Taylor's vehicle, quickly left Yankee Stadium.
