An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 41: Rank Up
Chapter 41: Rank Up
The sun came up, announcing the start of a new day, the light poured through the glass and onto Riven’s face. His eyes fluttered open. He sat up with a long groan, stretching his body as if attempting to tear it.
Immediately after he woke up, he heard a knock at the door. He stared at the door, wondering if that person had been waiting for him to wake up.
"Come in," he said without much thought, and immediately the door opened. Sophie walked in with a bowl of steaming hot water.
"Sophie, it’s you," he said.
"Good morning, young master. I came to prepare your bath and check up on you," she said. Her eyes drifted to the bandages gathered on the floor, and she immediately shot him a questioning look.
"I’m sorry, I overexerted myself and ended up bleeding a bit, but you don’t have to worry. I’ll buy some healing potions on my way to the guild today," he said quickly, trying to calm her mind. She didn’t respond and simply walked into the bathroom.
He heaved a sigh of relief. He didn’t know why he suddenly felt the need to make sure he calmed her mind, but he was happy that he did.
After she made his bath, he got in and washed up. By the time he was out, his armor was ready on the bed. She stood there staring at the tears and cuts on it.
She turned, looking at him as he walked out of the bathroom. "All these are sword cuts. Unless it’s a very intelligent beast, it should not be able to make such cuts.
Did you fight with someone, young master?" she asked, her gaze piercing into his soul. He felt that if he lied, she would know immediately, so he decided to twist the truth.
"No, it was just some of the monsters in the dungeon where I went yesterday. They used swords to attack, so that’s why I have those slashes on the clothes," he explained.
Sophie had noticed his wounds yesterday, and she knew they were cuts from a sword, but she decided not to ask because he was weak at that moment, and she didn’t want to stress him.
Even now after his explanation, she raised her brow as she looked at him. He stared at her, trying to look innocent.
"Raise care of yourself more," she said and walked out of the room. He heaved a heavy sigh of relief after she left. He still couldn’t tell why she was able to pressure him like that.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts, and then put on his armor, carried his sword and the storage bag, heading out.
He made his way down the stairs. He passed by the dining room; everyone aside from Noel was there eating, so he didn’t even bother to eat.
He walked out of the house and saw Noel standing there in a fancy dark silver armor and a sword by his side.
"You’re late," Noel said, clicking his tongue.
"Get off me man, unlike you I was busy yesterday and slept a bit more," Riven said. He walked past his brother and headed for the gate.
"We are going to have to get you your adventurer ID," Riven said while facing forward.
"You mean this?" Noel said and removed an ID card from the storage bracelet around his hand. Riven was already shocked by the fact that his brother had a storage bracelet, but he was more shocked by the fact that he had three bronze stars already.
"Father had the adventurer guild send someone here to get me registered, and after taking into account my skills and abilities, they decided that I was ready to be a three bronze star," he said, a proud smile on his face as he spoke.
"Whatever man, what matters is that you have it. I still have to go to the guild to submit my crystals from yesterday," Riven said and continued walking.
Noel stared at him with a pissed expression. He wanted to get more of a reaction from his brother, but his brother didn’t even react to it.
They headed into town, making their way through the crowded streets. Some citizens would spot Noel and pay their respects to him, but Riven was like a ghost to them.
"It must be hard, right? Being a noble yet not having anyone to pay their respects to you," Noel said.
"On the contrary, being unknown allows me to do some things that you can’t do," Riven said.
"But you are not unknown. If anything, you are the most known son of the baron," Noel said.
"They know my name, not my face—unlike you," Riven said.
Noel saw that his provocation was getting nowhere, so he decided to give it a rest for now. They arrived at Dark’s blacksmith, where Riven also wanted to have his armor fixed, but to his surprise, the place was closed, so he continued to the guild.
The both of them walked into the guild, and Noel went to find a place to sit down, while Riven walked to the counter. He opened his bag and pulled out all the crystals that he got, leaving only the orc crystal in his bag. He wanted to see what would happen if he absorbed that one.
Seeing the crystals on the table, the receptionist’s eyes widened. "Did you get this all yourself?" she asked.
"Yes, is there a problem?" Riven asked. She shook her head immediately and responded, "May I see your guild card?"
He nodded and handed it to her. She took a look and was even more surprised. She took the card along with the crystals, placing them on a tray under her desk.
"I will go and get your pay, along with a rank upgrade. With this amount of crystals, you can’t stay as a one bronze star," she explained and carried the tray, heading into the deeper rooms of the guild. Riven stood there waiting for her.
