The arena was still buzzing with energy from the last battle as Ethan called out the next match.

"Next up: Gryielle Benson versus Tatiana Reloc."

The crowd erupted in cheers as the two girls stepped forward, each carrying an air of unmistakable confidence.

Gryielle Benson, a tall and muscular figure, moved to her position with deliberate steps. Her dark skin shimmered under the lights, and her shoulder-length grey hair framed her striking yellow eyes, which seemed to glow faintly. Draped across her back was a massive war hammer, its icy aura causing frost to form on the stage as she placed it down. The sharp wolf-like edges of her features, combined with her confident smirk, gave her a presence that was both fierce and elegant.

Opposite her stood Tatiana Reloc, a stark contrast in appearance but equal in intensity. Her pale skin glowed softly under the arena lights, and her long, golden blonde hair cascaded down her back, swaying slightly as she adjusted her stance. Her emerald, green eyes gleamed with determination, and her feline ears twitched in response to the roars of the crowd. Her tail swayed lazily behind her, belying the power she held. In her hands was a massive greatsword, easily twice her size. Despite its size, she lifted it with surprising ease, her feline grace evident in every movement.

The tension in the air was palpable.

"Fighters ready?" Ethan’s voice echoed once more. Both girls nodded, their gazes locked in mutual respect yet fierce rivalry.

"Fight!"

The moment the command was given, Tatiana lunged forward with feline agility, her greatsword glowing with golden light. The sheer size of the weapon didn’t hinder her speed as she swung it in a wide arc, aiming to overwhelm Gryielle immediately.

Gryielle, however, was prepared. Her war hammer, now coated in a layer of frost, met Tatiana’s greatsword with a deafening CLANG. The clash sent shockwaves across the arena, forcing some in the audience to shield their eyes from the spray of ice shards and golden light.

"Fast," Gryielle muttered with a grin as she stepped back, her hammer glowing with a cold blue hue.

"And you’re strong," Tatiana replied, her voice calm yet tinged with excitement.

Tatiana leapt back, using her enhanced reflexes to gain distance. She raised her greatsword high, and golden beams of light rained down upon Gryielle. The wolf-girl didn’t flinch, her hammer spinning in her hands as she conjured a swirling shield of ice. The light beams struck the icy barrier, each impact sending shards flying but leaving Gryielle unscathed.

"My turn," Gryielle growled, slamming her hammer into the ground. The stage around her erupted in a burst of frost, sending jagged spikes of ice racing toward Tatiana. The Feline flipped effortlessly out of the way, her movements fluid and precise.

As she landed, Tatiana’s emerald eyes narrowed. She channeled her energy into her greatsword, which began to glow brighter, almost blindingly so. "Let’s see how your ice holds up against this!" she shouted, swinging the blade downward. A crescent wave of golden energy surged forward, slicing through the frost-covered stage as it hurtled toward Gryielle.

The werewolf didn’t retreat. Instead, she planted her feet firmly and swung her hammer upward, releasing a freezing gust of wind that met the golden wave head-on. The two energies collided in a spectacular display, light and ice intertwining in a dazzling explosion that left the stage cracked and misty.

Tatiana darted through the mist with predatory precision, her greatsword a blur as she closed the distance. Gryielle reacted in an instant, spinning her hammer to deflect the strike. The clash sent sparks of light and frost flying, and the force of their attacks created a shockwave that pushed both fighters back.

"Not bad," Tatiana said, her feline grin widening as she crouched low, her tail flicking in anticipation.

"You’re not too shabby yourself," Gryielle replied, the frost around her hammer intensifying.

Without warning, Gryielle charged, her hammer trailing icy mist as she swung it with earth-shattering force. Tatiana dodged, the ground where the hammer struck erupting in a spray of ice and debris. Using her enhanced reflexes, Tatiana countered with a lightning-fast upward slash, but Gryielle twisted her body mid-swing, blocking the strike with the shaft of her hammer.

The audience was on the edge of their seats as the two fighters engaged in a fierce exchange of blows, each showcasing their unique strengths. Gryielle’s strikes were powerful and relentless, each swing of her hammer freezing the air around her. Tatiana, on the other hand, relied on her agility and precision, her greatsword glowing with golden light as it weaved through Gryielle’s defenses.

Their battle reached its peak when Gryielle leapt high into the air, her hammer raised above her head. Frost gathered around her in a swirling storm, and she brought the weapon down with a roar. "Cryo Meteor!"

Tatiana’s eyes widened, but she didn’t hesitate. Channeling all her energy into her greatsword, she thrust it upward, releasing a beam of concentrated light. "Solar Burst!"

The two attacks collided in mid-air, creating a massive explosion of ice and light that enveloped the entire stage. The audience gasped as the shockwave rippled through the arena, leaving a cloud of mist and frost in its wake.

When the dust settled, both girls were still standing, though visibly exhausted. Gryielle’s hammer rested on her shoulder, and Tatiana’s greatsword was embedded in the ground for support.

"Not bad," Gryielle admitted with a toothy grin, her yellow eyes glowing faintly.

"You too," Tatiana replied, her tail flicking in amusement despite her labored breathing.

Ethan’s voice broke the silence. "The winner is… a tie!"

The audience erupted in applause, celebrating the display of skill and determination from both fighters. Gryielle and Tatiana exchanged a nod of mutual respect before returning to their seats, already anticipating a rematch in the future.

...

The arena was buzzing with excitement as Trevor strode onto the stage, his scythe resting casually over his shoulder. His short white hair shimmered under the bright lights, and his crimson eyes glinted with mischief. His pale skin seemed almost ethereal against the dark leather combat suit he wore, accentuating the lean but powerful frame of a seasoned warrior. Despite his confident gait, there was a playful smirk on his face, betraying his true intentions.

Ethan followed shortly after, towering over Trevor by a couple of inches. His fiery red hair and intense red eyes gave him an imposing presence, but his expression remained calm, his focus razor-sharp. He carried his massive war hammer with one hand as if it weighed nothing, its crimson-and-gold head shimmering faintly with psychic energy.

The audience roared as Ethan took his position opposite Trevor. Enjoy more content from novelbuddy

"Ladies and gentlemen," Ethan began with a smirk, his voice amplified across the arena. "Let’s make this fun."

Trevor chuckled, spinning his scythe lazily before planting it into the ground. "Fun? I thought you’d be shaking in your boots, Mr. Untouchable."

"You challenged me, remember? Let’s see if you can keep up."

Ethan’s tone was light, but the tension between the two was palpable. It wasn’t animosity—just the competitive edge of two best friends finally testing their limits.

From the judges’ stand, Xander Grim, the dark elf who had been Trevor’s original opponent, crossed his arms with a scowl. "This should’ve been my fight," he muttered.

"Fighters ready?" The AI referee’s voice echoed.

Both Ethan and Trevor nodded, their expressions turning serious.

"Fight!"

The command barely left the AI’s systems before Trevor surged forward; his scythe cloaked in black smoke. He swung it in a wide arc, a tendril of smoke trailing the blade like a serpent aiming to ensnare Ethan.

Ethan teleported instantly, reappearing several feet behind Trevor with his hammer mid-swing. The psychic energy surrounding the weapon shimmered as it descended, but Trevor spun on his heel, his scythe meeting the hammer in a loud CLANG. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the arena, causing cracks to appear on the stage beneath them.

"Nice reflexes," Ethan said, pulling back and swinging his hammer again, this time with greater force.

"Not bad yourself," Trevor replied, ducking under the swing and countering with a horizontal slash.

Ethan teleported again, but this time Trevor was ready. A cloud of smoke erupted around him, filling the area and obscuring Ethan’s vision.

"You’re not getting away that easily!" Trevor’s voice echoed from within the smoke.

Ethan’s red eyes glowed faintly as he reached out with his telepathy. "You’re forgetting something," Ethan said, his voice calm but confident. "I don’t need to see you to find you."

With a flick of his wrist, Ethan’s telekinetic energy surged through the smoke, dispelling it in a powerful burst. Trevor was caught off guard, stumbling back slightly as the psychic force pushed him toward the edge of the stage. He dug his scythe into the ground to steady himself, his smirk returning.

"Alright, let’s turn it up," Trevor said.

The air around him darkened as tendrils of smoke spiraled outward, forming massive claws that lunged at Ethan. Ethan responded with a telekinetic barrier, the claws crashing against it with an ear-splitting screech.

"You’re holding back, Trevor," Ethan said, stepping forward as the barrier shattered into shards of light.

"So are you," Trevor countered, his scythe spinning rapidly as he leapt into the air. The smoke around him condensed, forming jagged blades that rained down upon Ethan like a hailstorm.

Ethan raised his hammer, spinning it in front of him like a shield. The psychic energy around the hammer deflected most of the blades, but a few grazed him, leaving shallow cuts on his arms.

"Not bad," Ethan admitted.

"Not good enough," Trevor said, descending with his scythe aimed straight at Ethan.

Ethan didn’t teleport this time. Instead, he swung his hammer upward with both hands, meeting Trevor’s scythe in mid-air. The collision was explosive, sending shockwaves that shattered the protective barrier around the stage.

The audience screamed as debris and energy spilled into the stands, but the AI reacted instantly, deploying a stronger barrier that encased the entire arena in a shimmering dome.

"Well, that’s new," Trevor said, landing gracefully and dusting off his jacket.

"Let’s make it worth the upgrade," Ethan replied, his hammer glowing brighter.

Trevor smirked, unleashing a massive wave of smoke that engulfed the entire stage. From within the dark cloud, tendrils lashed out unpredictably, forcing Ethan to teleport rapidly to avoid them.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he telepathically tracked Trevor’s movements within the smoke. With a thought, he lifted chunks of the cracked stage with telekinesis and hurled them into the cloud. Each impact sent tremors through the arena, but Trevor remained elusive.

"Catch me if you can!" Trevor’s voice taunted from within the smoke.

Ethan grinned. "Alright."

In a flash, Ethan teleported directly above Trevor, his hammer raised high. Psychic energy erupted from the weapon as he brought it down. Trevor barely managed to block with his scythe, the force of the blow driving him to one knee.

"Gotcha," Ethan said.

Trevor growled, a smirk still tugging at his lips. "Not quite."

The smoke around them condensed into a massive dome, trapping both fighters inside. Trevor used the moment to slash upward with his scythe, catching Ethan off guard and sending him skidding across the stage.

"Now we’re even," Trevor said, his breathing heavy but his grin unwavering.

Ethan stood, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip. "You’re stronger than I expected," he admitted. "But this ends now."

The air around Ethan crackled with psychic energy as he floated slightly off the ground. His hammer glowed intensely, and with a single thought, he unleashed a telekinetic shockwave that dispersed the smoke entirely.

Trevor shielded his eyes as the force knocked him back, leaving him vulnerable. In a blur of motion, Ethan teleported directly in front of him, swinging his hammer with devastating speed.

Trevor raised his scythe to block, but the impact was too powerful. The scythe was knocked from his hands, and Trevor was sent flying into the arena wall, the reinforced barrier cracking from the force.

Trevor slumped to the ground, groaning but still conscious. Ethan stood over him, extending a hand.

"Well fought," Ethan said, his tone genuine.

Trevor grinned, taking the offered hand. "You didn’t have to hit that hard."

"No one asked you to challenge me brat!" Ethan said with a smirk.

"Good point."

"Finally..."

"Fucker!"

The audience erupted into cheers as the AI announced the victor. "Winner: Ethan!"

Despite the intense battle, the camaraderie between the two was evident as they walked off the stage together, laughing and exchanging jabs about the fight.

More battles went on and by the close of the day, around 300 students had fought their battles. They left campus in anticipation for the next day. The next day would be the last day for all the second years to fight then the third day will be used to finalize the choosing of the ten subordinates of Ethan. They’ve even started conducting bets on who would be subordinates and who wouldn’t, and Trevor was the most mentioned. For one to be able to go toe to toe with the strongest 2nd year and the newest Tyrant, there was no denying that he would be a subordinate. There was also the class monitor, Lisa Tennyson who had shocked everyone with her strength and prowess. Her opponent couldn’t even land a single hit. Then the two girls who ended in a stalemate... they couldn’t wait.
