Another World Mall-Chapter 898: Contract
"This is what they’ve proposed." Kalarn presented the proposal. "It is quite tricky. They’re definitely aiming for you."
"Hmm..." Clovis examined the documents.
"What’s written on it?" Kanaria asked.
Clovis replied while reading, "They want this battle to be a single battle. Reolf and Rea can’t participate, and I have to sign an agreement that I am not allowed to talk about them as well as mention this agreement."
"Hmm..." Melody frowned. "If you fight with Andrea and Reolf, it is indeed going to be an unfair fight. But it’s weird for them to ban you from talking about it."
"They probably want to hide their embarrassment for not allowing Clovis to fight with his beasts." Christina rolled her eyes. "They want to challenge him alone and stop him from using his full power. And the opponent is still a Tier 7 human, so it’s an unfair match for Clovis."
"I see. To avoid embarrassment, they try to silence Clovis." Melody nodded in understanding.
"If we break the contract, it looks like we have to pay a hefty price. I guess they really do want to hide their embarrassment." Kanaria squinted her eyes. "Hana would be angry if she were forced to sign this kind of document."
"But if Clovis backed down, they could stir everyone’s opinion. Like Clovis is afraid of their Iskandar or something." Kalarn actually agreed with them.
"Why don’t we just publicize this document right away? We haven’t signed the contract, so it is fine, no?" Luci asked out loud. There was a trace of anger in her voice.
"We can do that, but it might make us a bit untrustworthy. You should know how people snitch. People won’t approach us because of this." Melody shook her head.
Kalarn let out a long sigh. "This is clearly a trap. If it’s like this, it’s better if you don’t participate. My Hatson family will do everything we can to stop the damage."
They were pondering their choices. They all knew it was a trap from the contract alone, but Clovis had told the other party that they could challenge him in three days.
So, it wasn’t like they could back out either. They had to find a way to set up everything to their advantage. Or at least, they wanted the battle to be fair.
"By the way, what is Iskandar’s unique ability?" Ragna asked.
"According to our information, Iskandar’s ability is related to change of pace. He can completely control his speed and even amplify it," Vina replied.
"What? Can’t anyone do that?" Ragna raised his eyebrows.
"Yes, but not at his level. When you normally punch, you can produce a burst of shock waves, right? His ability allows him to produce three shock waves, which means his power is triple that of a normal burst. That’s why his strength is equal to a Tier 8 human."
"..." They all suddenly fell silent. It was indeed quite powerful. No one could produce multiple bursts, so it was no wonder why it was called a unique ability.
"And you mentioned earlier his ability is in the change of pace. That means his speed can increase and decrease as much as he likes. For us, if we swing our weapon with all our might, we won’t be able to stop it. We will be injured if we try to divert that trajectory. However, in his case, he can do it completely, which means he can produce fake actions as many times as he likes," added Vina.
That would be annoying to fight.
They were trying to think of a plan to counter their scheme.
Suddenly, Jay interrupted them. "You guys are thinking way too much."
"What? Are you going to tell us that all we need to do is fall into their trap and overpower them?" Kanaria rolled her eyes.
"No. What I want to say is, you are not the one who makes the decision. He is." Jay pointed at Clovis. "Why are you guys thinking so hard when he hasn’t even said anything the whole time?"
Kalarn raised his eyebrows. After he spoke, the atmosphere of the group abruptly changed. It looked like Tianna had described Jay correctly. He was indeed capable as the vice leader, even though he rarely showed any interest. If necessary, he would be the one to act.
The corner of Kalarn’s lips twitched slightly as he couldn’t help but think, ’My future son-in-law might be better than I originally thought. Should I send them both? But our family still needs a successor. Maybe Tianna can give birth to the successor over there, while Tienna’s children will take over the Hatson family?’
While Kalarn was having a different thought, the rest of the group were staring at Clovis.
"Give me a pen."
"Clovis? Are you really going to sign this?" Christina frowned. "This is a trap. We don’t know what they have prepared."
Clovis just shifted his gaze to Vina before shaking his head helplessly. "As the saying goes, information is indeed a weapon."
Vina pointed at herself, confused. "What do you want me to do? Do you want me to get anything to blackmail the Anatas family?"
"No. Everything is done already. Anyway, I have signed this. Mr. Kalarn. I will have to trouble you to show this to them." Clovis explained. "Just tell me the place and time later."
"I... I understand." Kalarn was confused. According to Tianna and Tienna, Clovis wasn’t the type of person who would charge recklessly. He was capable enough to come up with a plan in the midst of the battle, so he should have another plan in mind.
What they didn’t know was that Clovis actually had a secret weapon.
...
Thirty minutes ago.
When he was called to the living room to discuss the sparring match, someone suddenly sneaked in.
"Young Master." The woman politely nodded.
"!!!" Clovis was quite surprised to find her here. "You are... Maya?"
That was right. She was Maya, the maid who followed his great-grandmother.
Maya politely took out a small tape recorder.
"A recorder?" Clovis frowned.
"Madam only wants you to pass her test. Because the sparring match was caused by the mission itself, the madam had asked me to handle the aftermath. As your grandmother once said, you could defeat me but not humiliate me. Please use it according to your wish, Young Master."
