Another World Mall-Chapter 916: ’Evidence’
"Ugh..." Iskandar let out a groan as he gradually opened his eyes.
To his surprise, the ones he saw were not his family but people from the military.
"Who?" Iskandar let out a weak voice, glaring at the officer.
The officer was a woman who didn’t seem to be older than Iskandar. Despite her age, her strength was also equal to Tier 6, almost Tier 7. It would be a matter of time before she reached that level.
"Greetings. My name is Arina. I’m here to protect you."
"You? Protect me? Do you think you are that capable?"
"Alone? I am not. However, this is a government facility. As long as you are here, you will be safe."
"Government?" Iskandar was supposed to be treated and guarded by his family, so why would the government take over?
There could only be one possible reason in his mind. "So, the Hacfield family has begun their attack. Can’t you see what I have done is for the best of the country?"
"Unfortunately, no." Arina shook her head. "We are protecting you from your family."
"What did you say?" Iskandar widened his eyes. He was completely awake. Why would the government protect him from his family?
Arina looked troubled. "I’m sorry, but it’s better for you not to know the reason. Please just stay here. Everything is going to be fine soon."
"What are you talking about? Why are you stopping my family? Get me out of here right now!" Iskandar rose from his bed.
"You can always walk out of here. No one is stopping you. We don’t even cuff you." Arina let out a long sigh. "It’s just a shame that you will end up falling into your family’s trap."
"What did you say?" Iskandar gritted his teeth. He grabbed Arina’s collar and pulled her closer, his eyes filled with killing intent. "Woman. You’d better tell me everything."
Arina looked down as if she were not pressured by him but instead pitied him. "It is not in your best interest to know about it."
"And you expect me to believe you?"
Arina scratched the back of her head. "I understand. I’ll tell you everything. Please let go of me first."
Iskandar was thinking about leaving here, but he didn’t know about this place.
"You’d better talk now."
Arina let out a sigh. "We are ashamed to admit it, but to think that the one who causes all this mess will be the one helping us to obtain this precious information."
"!!!" There was only one person he could think of. It was Clovis.
"Sir Iskandar. Who loves you the most in this world?"
"Huh? What are you talking about? It’s my family, of course."
"Sorry. I should rephrase my question. Who loved you the most?"
"!!!" Iskandar widened his eyes. "What... what are you talking about?"
He panicked. There was only one name appearing in his mind. It was none other than his mother.
Because of his talent, he had a lot of expectations around him, so his mother, who had been kind to him and let him be free from those expectations, was the closest to him. She created his home.
However, she passed away several years ago.
"Five years ago. Your mother passed away, leaving you behind. The family let you mourn for her because you loved her so much. She was your home.
"What if I told you that your mother’s death was related to your family?"
"!!!" Iskandar’s body shook. "You... What did you say?"
"You heard me correctly. In the report and the death certificate, your mother died because of cancer, but that was not true.
"This is what we found after examining the place where your mother used to live."
Iskandar received the report. There was one result that was highlighted. "High dosage of radiation? Isn’t that normal? She was doing chemo to fight her cancer."
She shook her head. "Please take a look at the next page. That’s what we actually found at your house."
"!!!" Iskandar felt chills down his spine. "My mother’s room has a high level of radiation?"
"That’s right. She didn’t die from cancer. She was murdered. The one who planted that was your family when they made that villa where you would visit every few months."
"You... You..." Iskandar was speechless.
"This is why I don’t really want to tell you. It’s too embarrassing because the government wasn’t the one finding out about this. If you stayed for one day or two, it wasn’t a problem. But after staying there for months, it wouldn’t be weird for her to develop cancer and die.
"Your mother was supposed to be the only one who took care of you in the family. But that was also her mistake. She didn’t know the greed of your family."
"Shut up! Shut up! You don’t know anything!" Iskandar raised his voice.
Arina acted as if she hadn’t heard him. "If you grew up in that situation, you would follow your mother more than your family. That was why they had to kill their mother.
"They created that villa and sent her there. To ensure that nothing looked wrong, they even sent you once in a while to check up on her.
"Your family killed your mother, but they used it to gain your favor. They used that fact and gave all the support they could to help her but still put her back inside that villa to kill her.
"In your eyes, your family wanted you to know that they wholeheartedly supported you or your mother, but by showing that support, it would increase your gratitude to the family without you knowing that they were planning to kill the one who mattered to you the most.
"This way, when she died, you would be completely under their control."
"Shut up. Shut up!" Iskandar shouted and punched Arina in the face.
Arina was blasted to the other side of the room. It was painful, but Arina got up as if nothing had happened.
"All the evidence is right in front of you. We got this information when we wanted to help you against Clovis Hacfield. The latter gave this to us in order to make up with you and the country."
Iskandar was clutching his head. He couldn’t believe it. His family wouldn’t do that.
