Another World Mall-Chapter 956: Ambush?
"Clovis. Good news. We’ve found it," reported Aileen.
"Really?" Clovis’s eyes brightened. Melody even showed a picture of it, which confirmed the finding.
"Coming." Clovis smirked, already imagining what the chimpanzee would do after their training.
However, she suddenly gave a warning. "Wait. Stop!"
"!!!" Clovis was startled by the warning, but this kind of warning was unusual, so not only Clovis but also the rest of the group were halting their steps. "What’s wrong, Aileen?"
"I found people hiding in the vicinity."
"..." Clovis furrowed his eyebrows. "What are they doing?"
"I’m not sure. Looks like they’re waiting for something. Maybe waiting for us? Give me thirty seconds. I’m going to check their identity."
"Got it." Clovis and the rest of the team raised their guard. On the one hand, this group could just be aiming for the Tier 8 beast. On the other hand, it was a bit too much of a coincidence.
Then again, Clovis had been heading to the west, meaning killing the beasts from the area of a country next to him instead of Absalom.
After the stunt he pulled, it wouldn’t be weird if this country sent their experts this deep to hunt down the Tier 8 beasts.
While he didn’t mind a clash, he didn’t intend to openly challenge them just for this mission. After all, no one really wanted to pick a fight with another country unless it was necessary.
However, Aileen’s finding had changed his opinion.
"I don’t recognize them, but I do recognize one person. Jun. The person you wanted me to follow previously."
"!!!" Clovis was a bit surprised, but he had predicted this would happen sooner or later, and it was definitely sooner than his prediction.
Jun and Astrien should be further west from this spot. In other words, they shouldn’t be here yet since they should focus on the Tier 8 beast in their own area first.
He wasn’t supposed to be Clovis, who intended to cross the border right away. Even Clovis’ plan shouldn’t force him to do such a thing.
In other words, Jun was planning to do something.
And that something was rather obvious to Clovis.
"It looks like they’re going to ambush us." Clovis’ expression turned grim. It looked like placing Aileen in front had paid off. "Their strength?"
"Only one Tier 8. It should be Jun himself. It looks like he is bringing his personal team here. However, there are twenty of them that are currently visible. Do you want me to check further?"
"No. We don’t have time."
Aileen was able to conceal her presence much better than anyone else, so she could scout the area without anyone realizing it.
Thanks to her, he finally figured out what was going on, which turned out to be similar to what he had originally expected.
There was only one reason for Jun’s coming to this place. That was due to the surveillance from the control room.
That was right. Melody had been turning the drone on and off, but if they wanted to track their whereabouts, it wouldn’t be too hard.
So, the person in the control room would fetch Jun that data. Jun would then head to Clovis’ target to ambush him.
He wouldn’t clash with him head-on. Instead, he would let the Tier 8 beast exhaust him first before making his move.
In other words, if Clovis chose to accomplish his objective, Jun would definitely kill him the moment an opportunity arose.
Nevertheless, he had expected this would happen sooner or later, considering Jun wanted to gain the Prophet’s favor.
Considering the Prophet’s actions from the past, Clovis knew Jun would go straight to him.
It might be an ambush for the Prophet’s hidden team as well, but he couldn’t draw the conclusion yet.
"Melody." Clovis gave an ’OK’ sign to Melody.
Melody nodded. They had agreed on how to approach this matter. Melody would first notify Gerald to monitor the situation. If there were indeed a hidden force lurking around, they would be ready to clash with them.
Then, Clovis ordered, "Aileen. Approach them and stay there. I will now split our team into two.
"The first team will be Rin, Rea, Erwin, and Christina. All of you will get ready to intercept the incoming attacks.
"They have most likely tried to ambush us, so I’m concerned about long-range weapons such as guns or bows. So, while Christina fights with me to kill the Tier 8 beast, I want you to pay close attention to their directions. Ragna will take charge of the other team’s defense.
"The rest will belong to the other team and focus on taking down the Tier 8 beast if possible. If not, we will split our group further. Jay will be in charge of killing the Tier 8 beast. Do you think you can do it, Jay?"
"Give Ragna and Luci to me. Christina can focus on the ambush."
"You heard the man."
"Got it." Ragna and Luci acknowledged their roles.
"All right. Let’s get ready. We’ll expose ourselves first to make it look like we don’t know what’s going on." Clovis led the team a bit closer to the open area where the Tier 8 beast was.
Then, he would move around as if he were giving instructions to the entire team.
This small action might not look like much, but it would definitely change the outcome of the battle.
After all, Jun had been paying attention to them.
"Captain... there they are. Clovis Hacfield seems to be giving instructions to his teammates right now. They must want to hunt this Tier 8 beast."
Jun smirked. His plan had really worked.
"You’re so good, Captain. If we can kill the Tier 8 beast as well as Clovis Hacfield here, we will be the biggest winner. No one will know what happens here."
"Good." Jun paused for a moment. "We’ll go once they’re focused on the Tier 8 beast. Get ready to take them down. I want to kill Clovis Hacfield myself."
The thrill of killing the biggest rising star was definitely something that he couldn’t imagine. That was why he would do it and become the Prophet’s disciple.
