Another World Mall-Chapter 988: Failed
"!!!"
That statement took everyone by surprise.
"What do you mean by your code?" Clovis asked. "Keep the front stable."
Jay and the others shook their heads to get their focus back on the incoming beasts.
"What’s going on, Melody?" Kanaria asked while shooting down the beasts.
Melody’s expression turned serious. "From what I can see... the code is really like mine. I mean, the structure... is really very similar to mine. If you want to look, I can show you the code for my AI assistant.
"The terminology that I can see from here is similar. Everything looks similar to the point where I start to believe this is indeed my code."
Kanaria asked, "What do you mean by your code? We can’t see anything here?"
Clovis explained, "I’ll explain later. For the time being, it looks like only Melody and I can see through this tower."
Kanaria fell silent. This meant not everyone was qualified to learn about the tower. There might be another secret that they didn’t know about Clovis and Melody.
Melody took a look around and said, "Are these... the codes to establish this simulation world?"
"Your judgment? And don’t forget that this is one of the seven special towers in the world. We might find something different from the other six towers."
Melody fell silent, contemplating. "Yeah. I think this is mine. At least, a very similar one to mine, to the point where I can recreate it. There is no need to document everything. As long as I take a few notes here and there, I can reconstruct all of them."
"Really?" Clovis thought of one possibility. He and Melody might have come from another world. Melody might even have a hand in the creation of this simulation world.
There must be a reason Clovis and Melody entered this world as players.
Unfortunately, with such limited information, they couldn’t really figure out the situation.
"I see." Clovis thought for a moment. "In that case, we should speed up. Those people might start chasing after us soon."
"Yes." Melody nodded in agreement. Although she was curious, she could recreate everything later and figure out what the code was used for.
Clovis wondered if there was any other mechanism in this tower. The codes might be special, but he expected this tower to hide more.
’Since this is the code that constructs this world, does this mean there are hidden mechanisms hidden in those codes?’ Clovis furrowed his eyebrows. ’Maybe we should leave this tower first...’
Although it was a bit disappointing that they didn’t find anything other than the codes, it was indeed better to leave this place as quickly as possible. They couldn’t afford to have the people from Easton come for them.
...
Meanwhile, the president of Easton actually received a report that he couldn’t believe.
"What did you say?" The president’s jaw dropped to the ground.
Supervisor Delrick repeated his message. "The tower has been breached. It looks like the Libation Fiesta or maybe the Hacfield family knows something about this tower. Once I leave the tower to regroup with the rest of the elite team, a barrier seals the entrance, and it’s not scientific.
"We are trying to destroy the barrier right now, but none are working. I’m afraid that this is a hidden mechanism of the tower. We haven’t seen this before, so Clovis Hacfield may possess something special that can activate the tower.
"We are unsure how to proceed right now." Delrick looked at his people, who kept shaking their heads as their methods didn’t work.
The president’s expression turned grim. He had never heard the tower being activated before.
He knew there was something special about the tower. That was why he sealed the tower. The Prophet even told him to do so, and other countries supported the decision.
But looking at the situation, he might have screwed up. At the very least, someone should have told him enough information about this tower to handle this kind of problem.
The president’s expression turned grim. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Should he tell the Prophet? Should he tell other countries about this matter?
If this matter were exposed, it would show that Easton was too incompetent. He also didn’t know how those countries would react.
The other countries might also not know anything about this tower. So, they might be interested in the information Clovis gained from this trip.
To his surprise, another call came in soon.
"Sir. There is a call claiming to be the Prophet. Should I connect it to you?"
"!!!" The president widened his eyes. His heart skipped a beat as he wondered if the Prophet knew about it or not.
He didn’t know how the Prophet even knew about this matter. Did he have a spy in their government?
The president gulped down before asking the secretary to connect the call. Once he picked up the call, he recognized the person’s voice immediately.
"Mr. President. It looks like you have failed to stop them."
The president furrowed his eyebrows. "I don’t take it kindly that you are putting spies in my country, Prophet. I respect your ability and connections, but hiding a spy like this sounds like a threat to me."
"Oh please. Even if you search the entire country, you won’t be able to find my spy. Because there is none.
"You must be wondering right now how I am able to find out about your failure. Unfortunately, I don’t intend to reveal that piece of information to you, especially after your failure. I don’t want you to fail to keep the information safe."
"You..." The president gritted his teeth. He didn’t expect to get this kind of information, but the way the Prophet worded it made him look useless.
He didn’t know what was going on either, but it was clear that there was secret knowledge that only a few possessed in this world.
And this might be the reason the Prophet and the Hacfield family had a big clash in the past.
