Apocalypse: After Being Reborn, I Stocked Up on All Supplies-Chapter 175 - : Surviving at Sea: Night in a Cave
Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Surviving at Sea: Night in a Cave
“Huh, Brother Song, how did you know we’ve reached the boundaries of Xiangyun? You didn’t even look at a map?” Kong Wu asked, momentarily speechless.
Song Qian glanced ahead and explained,
“Those mountains in front of us are the once-famous peaks of Xiangyun, the Seven Peaks of Xiangyun, quite recognizable. There used to be many caves on these cliffs with beautiful carvings inside.
Not to mention their historical significance, many were masterpieces. However, nowadays, most of these carvings are submerged underwater.
There’s an ancient village not far from the foot of this mountain. It has a Xiangyun Temple, which was once famous far and wide.”
“Oh, there’s a temple? Hopefully, Buddha will bless us with a smooth and safe journey!” Su Dai prayed with her hands clasped.
Kong Wu, sitting at the stern, smirked and teased, “Sister Dai, aren’t your prayers a bit… limited?”
“Heh, I’d rather pray for these disasters to pass quickly, but that’s not realistic,” Su Dai said, her smile mixed with resignation.
Kong Wu wanted to reply, but Song Qian cut him off, “Alright, Kong Wu, quit the chatter. You have keen eyes; pick out which peak we should dock at.”
“Heh heh, true, I might have small eyes, but I have good eyesight!” Kong Wu chuckled, shielding his eyes with his hand and looking towards the peaks.
Ye Qing, standing at the forefront, already had the telescope out, directing Sun Jingtao to steer towards a large cave in the main peak, about five or six square meters.
The cave seemed to be naturally formed and further carved by human hands.
Its appearance was irregular, but there was a wide flat area at the entrance.
Next to the flat area were a few irregular stalagmites, which were perfect for securing their fully loaded assault boat.
They needed to gather some dry firewood for the night, and the cave was oddly divided at the back, with a left and a right path.
It seemed there might be other caves inside.
One could always stumble upon new discoveries while exploring.
After they had organized their assignments, Ye Qing volunteered, “I’ll pair up with Jiang Yan.”
Jiang Yan didn’t say anything; she was indifferent about her group pairing.
However, if she could go alone, that would be ideal.
But at the moment, a sense of team spirit was necessary.
She didn’t want to be overly fussy.
Song Qian eyed Ye Qing, “Alright, then I’ll pair up with Kong Wu.”
He actually felt that pairing the strongest with the weakest, himself with Jiang Yan, would have been more balanced.
But since Jiang Yan had no complaints, he didn’t pursue it further.
“Everyone be careful, and if you notice anything off, return immediately!” Song Qian cautioned as they reached the divergence inside the cave.
“Okay.”
The cave entrance was only about fifty or sixty centimeters above the water surface, avoiding the water and making it easy for them to climb up.
Further inside, there seemed to be more irregular small caves.
However, the light was too dim, and some columns obstructed the view, making it hard to see clearly through the telescope.
Sun Jingtao skillfully docked the assault boat.
His boating skills were second to none, even compared to Kong Wu.
“Even though there are no signs of earthquakes here, everyone should still be careful. Let’s carry the most important supplies with us and leave the rest on the boat for now.
Once we’ve set up a rotation for the night watch, we can relax more,” Sun Jingtao suggested.
“Mmm.” Everyone agreed with his proposal, nodding in unison.
The assault boat slowly slid to a stop in front of the cave, Ye Qing being the first to climb up.
Then came Song Qian.
The two quickly secured the assault boat using ropes.
With their help, the lightweight Jiang Yan and Su Dai were pulled up.
Jiang Yan could have easily climbed up herself, but being unfamiliar with Song Qian and the others, she modestly downplayed her abilities.
Sun Jingtao and Kong Wu stayed behind to get some essential supplies from the boat before climbing up.
Although it was a remote area, they were still cautious and took out their guns and weapons.
There were many large rocks and gravel at the entrance, all damp.
After all, the heavy rain had stopped only a day earlier, and the sunlight was barely sufficient.
One side of the cave’s wall had been artificially flattened, with a few ancient poems engraved on it.
Time and neglect had made the fonts and colors blotchy, hardly recognizable.
The group didn’t bother trying to read them, simply glanced over and moved on.
Further inside was a relatively even floor covered in thick dust.
The group donned their backpacks, carrying essential supplies and continued walking.
Suddenly, as they walked, Song Qian stopped abruptly at Jiang Yan’s feet:
“Jiang Yan, have you been to Wanlong Building before?”
Their shoes were damp from some residual water in the cabin, which had also been splashed by waves a few times.
At the entrance, they had also stepped in mud.
Now, stepping onto the dusty ground, their footprints were quite clear.
Ye Qing didn’t understand why he would ask such a question, looking at him suspiciously.
Wanlong Building was where Jiang Yan had previously encountered Song Qian and Qi Mengnan.
Jiang Yan, who had been observing her surroundings, glanced back at him:
“I haven’t been there, why?”
The girl wearing the mask had a calm and innocent expression, her eyes clear as water, staring right back at him.
Standing in front of the similarly imposing figure of Song Qian, Jiang Yan, slightly shorter at 168 centimeters and slender, appeared rather small.
But her confidence and composure were no less imposing.

“Nothing, just casually asking, I might have mistaken you for someone else,” Song Qian said, his lips twitching slightly as he calmly shifted his gaze away.
Kong Wu, not understanding the context, joked, “Brother Song, isn’t that pickup line a bit cliché?”
Song Qian didn’t respond, just threw a chilling glare Kong Wu’s way.
Kong Wu sheepishly grinned and gestured zipping his lips, then sat down on the ground.
Sun Jingtao and Su Dai watched with amused expressions, remaining silent.
To them, it seemed just a casual inquiry from Song Qian, nothing more.
Ye Qing lingered on Song Qian’s expression for a few seconds before changing the subject:
“Should we just stay here? Going deeper is too dark, and we can’t see our boat anymore.”
“That works,” Sun Jingtao agreed, looking around before setting down his backpack.
The others found spots on nearby rocks to sit down.
It was still early before darkness fell, and they quickly divided up tasks.
Su Dai was responsible for cooking, setting up her cooking pot on the spot.
Sun Jingtao helped her initial preparation, then went back to the boat to clean the fish they had.
As for Jiang Yan and Song Qian, they grouped in pairs to explore the cave.
Ye Qing and Jiang Yan nodded and turned into the dark cave on the left.
