Chapter 222: Chapter 222: It’s You?!

Amidst the snowflakes that filled the sky, the biting wind cut across the face like shards of razor blades.

Jiang Yan gathered the brim of her hat, pulled out a flashlight and handgun, and walked towards the wooden wall outside the door.

A pair of men and women, not wearing a stitch of clothing and mostly buried under the snow, appeared in view.

Huddled together, their bodies coated in white frost, they had already turned into two bluish statues of ice.

It seemed that Dr. Chu’s miraculous potion had failed.

Even so, Jiang Yan stepped forward, removed her gloves, and checked their breathing.

They were indeed dead.

She put on her gloves and turned her gaze to the side.

The red snowmobile and the white reindeer nearby were similarly half-buried by the blizzard.

Jiang Yan trudged over, cut the rope on the reindeer, and first stored the snowmobile in the “Space.”

Upon seeing the light and her figure, the reindeer did not stand up but let out a weak “ow,” as if pleading for something.

Jiang Yan guessed it must be injured, otherwise it wouldn’t let the snow press against its body like this.

To avoid any accidents, she took out a tranquilizer gun and injected the reindeer.

As soon as the reindeer’s eyelids flipped shut and it passed out, Jiang Yan approached.

This reindeer was about as big as an elephant.

Its antlers were fully grown, indicating it was an adult.

Its fur was entirely white, and it looked quite robust.

But most of its body was buried under the snow.

There were some unevenly hung ice chains on the antlers.

Jiang Yan pondered for a second, lightly placed her fingers on the reindeer, and stored this large-sized animal into the “Space.”

Checking the time, considering the people inside the house would take about twenty more minutes to wake up, she simply entered the “Space.”

The reindeer was automatically recognized by the “Space” and placed in the orchard area of the “Planting Area.”

Though the fruit trees in the orchard were sparsely planted, the large reindeer still crushed a section of apple trees.

Jiang Yan was somewhat bemused.

The chicks, ducklings, and goslings hatched previously, besides freely flying around the grassland and swimming by the creek, would raid her vegetable garden.

They pecked at the vegetable leaves and dug for worms and small bugs in the soil.

Whether they could dig any up was unknown, but the soil was always in disarray after a while.

Fortunately, these small animals seemed limited by some rules of the “Space,” sticking to just the planting area and the grassland.

As for the reindeer, Jiang Yan had read reports that they typically lived in dense forests.

However, the fruit trees in her “Space” weren’t even as tall as her waist, hardly dense enough to be considered a forest.

However, needing to return to the house later to deal with those people, Jiang Yan didn’t want to dwell on this issue overmuch.

She let it lie there for the moment, thinking she could simply replant later.

While she was contemplating, she had already walked to the reindeer’s side.

The sunlight in the “Space” was just right, the icicles and remaining snowflakes on its antlers and body gradually melted into water.

With the snow no longer concealing it, Jiang Yan discovered that the reindeer was indeed injured.

Both of its hind legs had bullet holes and bloodstains, and it was evident from the dragging injuries caused by a vehicle.

Its front legs were bent and tied on two planks resembling mini sleds.

No wonder it couldn’t stand up.

Jiang Yan finished untying it and, with a thought, took out a medical kit.

She secured the wound with bandages to stop the bleeding, then removed the embedded bullet casings with tweezers, disinfected the area, applied medicine, and finally wrapped the reindeer’s wounds with gauze.

Checking the time, less than ten minutes remained before the narcotic effects would wear off outside.

Jiang Yan got up, moved the reindeer to the grassland, and fetched over a dozen cut logs from the “Inventory Area” as potential food.

The logs had some moss and wild wood ear mushrooms on them.

After completing these preparations, Jiang Yan exited the “Space” with a thought.

The stark contrast in temperature made Jiang Yan involuntarily shiver.

She pushed the door and entered the house, finding those few people still deep asleep, slumped against the wall.

Jiang Yan picked up the kerosene lamp from before, lit it, then dragged a stool and sat in front of them.

Time slowly ticked by.

Ding Dayong woke up first.

He grunted for a second, then tried to scratch his ear, realizing only then that he couldn’t move his limbs.

The air in the room was cold, and his legs had been bent for too long; now, any slight movement felt like thousands of ants gnawing at him, sour and numb and painful.

Ding Dayong’s eyes suddenly snapped open, his gaze sweeping around the room warily. Seeing several people tied up and Jiang Yan, fully armed, sitting across in the dim light, he tensed and his eyelids began to twitch wildly. “Mmm?!”

Jiang Yan ignored him.

She sat on the stool previously occupied by Chu Hui, legs crossed, carelessly twirling a large gasoline-powered saw in her hand.

The chain of the gas saw, a meter and a half long, glinted coldly under the dim light.

“Mmm?!!” Ding Dayong shifted his body, trying to awake the others, but a moment of instability caused him to fall sideways with a thump.

The effects of the drugs wore off, and the others, startled by his movement, woke up in succession.

Seeing the figure that suddenly appeared, the three underlings stared in shock and fear.

One tried to rub his eyes, then realized his predicament.

“Mmm?!!” They looked at each other for a second: Is this a dream?!

They tried to break free from the ropes, but found the more they struggled, the tighter the bindings got, almost cutting into their flesh, so they dared not move anymore.

Chu Hui was the last to wake up, or rather, the last to open his eyes.

Unlike the others, he was unusually calm.

He glanced at Jiang Yan slyly and then a sneer appeared in his eyes.

“Mmm?” He looked at Jiang Yan, his gaze haughty as he lifted his chin.

It was as if he had something to say.

Jiang Yan didn’t even blink.

She took out a cloth from her pocket, and like those psychopathic killers in movies, she buried her head and nonchalantly wiped the saw blade.

Although her face and gender were unclear, the movements alone sent shivers down the spines of Ding Dayong and the others.

After a moment, Jiang Yan stopped wiping.

“Shit!” The switch of the gasoline saw turned on.

The deafening buzz broke the silence in the room.

Under their widened eyes, the furiously spinning saw blade moved slowly in front of them.

Ding Dayong and the others grew even more terrified.

Seconds later, the saw blade stopped in front of Chu Hui.

His eyes narrowed, the corner of his mouth twitched slightly, and he snorted disdainfully.

Suddenly, an invisible force ripped off the tape covering his mouth, tearing away a small piece of Chu Hui’s tender skin in the process; he screamed in pain.

The others, startled, instinctively shrank back towards the wall.

Everything was too bizarre.

They soon realized that they must be dreaming!

Ding Dayong led the way as they began to bang their heads against the wooden wall.

“Ow!!”

“Ow!”

“Ow!”

Dull cries of pain followed one by one.

In that instant of pain, they fully realized that everything happening in this room was not a dream—it was reality!

Chu Hui took a deep breath, glanced at the black tape soaked in his blood and flesh on the ground, then his gaze darkened viciously as he sneered at Jiang Yan:

“So, the person who lived in this house before—it was you?!”
