Apocalypse Cheater-Chapter 258: Tatalus Despair
[: 3rd POV :]
In the heart of Toronto located somewhere in Canada, towering over the sky like a harbinger of doom, loomed a monstrous entity known only as Tatalus.
It was a grotesque spectacle, an enormous, pulsating eye framed by a mass of long, glistening tentacles that writhed grotesquely in midair.
The crimson slits that served as its pupils glowed ominously, sending a chill down the spines of the hapless citizens below.
Buildings shuddered as the creature swayed, and with a swift flick of its tentacles, chaos began.
With a sickening crack, a tentacle lashed against a nearby skyscraper, reducing it to mere dust in an instant.
Windows shattered like crystal raindrops, and dust poured from the concrete remains like smoke from a funeral pyre.
Tatalus moved with an eerie grace, each sway brought devastation.
"Run, human, run!" the monster's voice reverberated through the air, deep and booming, though it lacked a mouth.
The sound was unnervingly calm, sending rippling waves of terror through the crowd.
Panic surged as hundreds of people scrambled in every direction, screaming in terror.
"My God, what is that?" a woman gasped, her voice trembling as she clutched her child to her chest.
Amidst the chaos, her eyes reflected sheer horror as she watched a man attempt to confront the beast, brandishing a weapon.
"Get back! We have to fight it!" he cried defiantly, but as he charged forward, a tentacle struck, engulfing him in an instant.
A cruel laugh echoed from Tatalus, the sound chilling the air.
"Even with the protection that you have, it is nothing against me,"
Tatalus declared, the weight of its words crushing the hope that flickered in the hearts of those left.
Chaos reigned as it continued its unrelenting assault, unaffected by the cries of desperation surrounding it.
Neighbors clawed at one another to escape, their expressions twisted in an unholy mix of disbelief and terror.
"We can't just stand here! We need to—" a man yelled, before being interrupted by the guttural shriek of another tentacle sweeping through his existence.
Buildings crumbled, and fires erupted where debris ignited, sending thick black smoke spiraling into the sky.
To Tatalus, the frenzy was music—a symphony of despair as each human who tried to resist fell victim to its merciless touch.
The streets turned to scenes of desolation, filled with echoes of horror and weeping.
"This is what you expected from an unranked planet," Tatalus mused, gliding effortlessly above the destruction.
It reveled in the chaos, its massive eye glimmering with sadistic satisfaction.
"This is fun for me." The monster couldn't suppress the wicked satisfaction that swelled within it.
The thrill of conquest was intoxicating, drowning out any vestige of empathy for those it had obliterated.
As the city succumbed to ruin, with darkness creeping across the cityscape, the cries of the innocent were drowned out by the laughter of a creature that called itself a conqueror.
And in that moment, Tatalus knew it had found the home it had long sought—a terrifying dominion where its reign of terror would know no bounds.
"I think you had your fun long enough,"
Daniel shouted, his voice cutting through the destruction that Tatalus had unleashed upon Toronto.
The surroundings trembled, but he stood firm, resolute against the overwhelming terror that had brought the city to its knees.
Suddenly, Tatalus, reveling in its moment of chaos, twisted its gaze to focus on the daring human who had interrupted its revelry.
"Hm? Another human who doesn't know his limits?"
It crooned, sarcasm dripping from its tone, coupled with a wicked glint in its crimson slit eyes.
The air grew thick with tension as the monster hovered above, its tentacles undulating ominously around it.
"The one who doesn't know his limits should be yourself,"
Daniel retorted as he hovered defiantly, unafraid to meet the giant eye's gaze.
A booming laugh erupted from Tatalus, shaking the very ground beneath them.
"HAHAHAHA! I never thought that there's not only a foolish mortal, but one who lacks a brain!"
The monster reveled in its mockery, its voice echoing through the desolate streets, sending shivers down the spines of those nearby.
Daniel raised an eyebrow, a smirk creeping onto his face.
"Brain? Look who's talking—someone who's just an oversized eyeball!"
His tone was a mix of bravado and disdain, challenging the grotesque being before him.
"I see you have quite the cheeky mouth,"
Tatalus mused, an unsettling calm settling over it.
"But whether or not you will still live to see another day is a different question entirely."
The creature's tone shifted, a darkness creeping in as the tension reached a fever pitch.
Daniel stood tall, the threat hanging in the air between them like a taut wire ready to snap.
Around them, echoes of destruction faded momentarily as both combatants locked eyes.
A brave mortal holding his ground against the embodiment of chaos.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of slick tentacles surged toward Daniel, slicing through the air with menacing precision.
Each one was almost an inch away from him, ready to engulf their prey.
But just as they seemed inevitable, Daniel vanished, his form a blur as he moved with remarkable swiftness and appeared behind Tatalus.
"Too slow, you stupid eyeball!" Daniel taunted boldly, his confidence radiating through the chaos.
Tatalus twisted its enormous eye to follow him, surprise flickering across its grotesque features.
"I see you managed to dodge that. It seems you mortals have quite the ability,"
It begrudgingly admitted, both impressed and shocked by Daniel's agility.
For a creature that thrived on dominance, it was unsettling to realize a mortal had evaded its grasp—especially on this unranked planet, where such speed seemed impossible.
"But who said that's the end?"
Tatalus bellowed, unleashing even more tentacles that surged like a living wave toward Daniel.
They stretched and lunged, relentlessly in their pursuit, but Daniel danced through the air, evading each attack.
The monstrous tentacles twisted and coiled, but no matter how fast they moved, they failed to touch even a single strand of his hair.
"Enough is enough,"
Daniel exclaimed with a yawn, frustration creeping into his voice.
He had dodged so many times that it felt almost mundane.
Just as the tentacles lunged forward once more, their tips poised to graze his skin, Daniel summoned forth his Scythe.
His scythe gleamed with ominous aura that cut through the air.
As he invoked the Genesis Killer ability, an aura of power enveloped the Scythe, radiating with energy so potent it caused the tentacles to freeze momentarily.

In a flash, all the hundreds of tentacles that had pursued him vanished as if erased from existence.
It dissipated into the air like smoke.
"What... just happened?"
Tatalus roared, confusion evident in the tremor of its voice.
The shock left its eye wide, unable to comprehend the sudden turn of events.
It sensed Daniel had made a movement with his Scythe, yet it couldn't fathom the speed or the sheer force that had just obliterated its tentacles.
'How is it possible that my tentacles which had been blessed and possessed authority been cut...?'
Tatalus's thoughts spiraled.
For it to have allowed a mortal to harm it meant two stark possibilities.
One, Daniel possessed a rank higher than itself, which was impossible in an unranked realm.
Tatalus knew that if a being of such power had appeared, the very fabric of reality of the planet would begin to fray and collapse under the weight of its presence.
That left one other possibility.
Daniel had some kind of blessing or authority.
Tatalus's churning thoughts filled with denial.
'This is an unranked planet! There shouldn't be any being who could receive a blessing or authority!'
Tatalus recalled how such gifts from 'higher beings' were rare and incredibly difficult to attain.
'I could partially believe he might have a blessing, since "those beings" love to meddle in affairs. But authority? There's no way!'
The frustrations boiled in Tatalus.
It had sacrificed everything to gain even minuscule authority, and for a mere human to bypass that was maddening.
It was inconceivable!
Raw anger surged as Tatalus raged against the incomprehensible turn of events, grappling with an enemy that defied all odds.
Suddenly, a grotesque transformation began within Tatalus.
Sharp, serrated teeth sprouted rapidly from its massive eye, each glinting with an unsettling hunger.
A greyish crimson aura pooled violently around the orb, pulsating as though it were alive.
"I don't know how a mortal like you could cut my tentacles... but you need to die!"
Tatalus roared, its voice resonating with fury and desperation.
In an instant, the atmosphere shifted dramatically.
A swarm of strange, glowing orbs had materialized all around Daniel.
Each sphere glimmered with dark crimson energy, swirling with an ominous power.
With a roaring sound that echoed through the remnants of the city, the orbs exploded outward, releasing a torrent of destructive energy aimed straight at Daniel.
With no time to waste, Daniel quickly summoned forth his Genesis Shield.
As the ferocious energy cascaded toward him, the shield absorbed the impacts.
Each blast had colided against the shield, sending shockwaves rippling through the air, yet the barrier held firm, glinting defiantly against Tatalus's might.
'Again! How could his shield withstand my attacks?'
Tatalus seethed, frustration boiling over.
The impossibility of the situation gnawed at its primal instincts.
It had unleashed its full anger, drawing upon its blessings and authority, channels of power that were meant to overwhelm.
Yet, time and again, it failed to breach the mortal's defenses.
