Apocalypse Foodie System: Watch Her Cook!-Chapter 144 - 139: Bang!
Tang Yiyi rode the Two-Wheeled War Vehicle out of the city gates, but outside lay a vast, boundless wilderness. She had no idea which direction Pang Zhi and the others had gone. How could she easily find them?
She could only analyze the opponent’s intentions bit by bit, hoping to find the slightest clues among them. Then she marked all the suspicious places on the map and proceeded to search through them one by one.
This was a clumsy approach she had no choice but to adopt because she really had too few clues to work with. It was the only method she could think of.
Meanwhile, as she searched, Pang Zhi was still in a standoff with the opposing party. He had He Lin in his control and demanded the other party release his two bodyguards.
However, not only did those people refuse to release his bodyguards as he requested, but they instead brusquely threw his bodyguards off the vehicle and disdainfully said to him, "These two are too unreliable. We can’t release them. Do whatever you want if you plan to act. But honestly, can you really bear to harm this pretty lady?"
Upon hearing this, He Lin acted even more pitiable, looking like a damsel in distress with an air of vulnerable charm that invoked sympathy.
Pang Zhi wasn’t moved, but he was already panicking. He had clung to a glimmer of hope, thinking that capturing He Lin would force the others into a bind. But the outcome revealed that these people didn’t care about He Lin’s life or death at all!
Without He Lin, how could he save his own life? Could it be that he could only resign himself to fate?
Pang Zhi’s eyes darted around as he rapidly considered possible solutions. Suddenly, he noticed a driver taking out a syringe and walking towards his bodyguard. The bodyguard tried to struggle, but his limbs were pinned down, leaving him helpless as the driver injected a mysterious liquid into him.
Pang Zhi, both shocked and enraged, questioned, "What are you doing? What is that substance?"
The driver injected the entire vial into the bodyguard before coldly laughing, "Relax, it’s just a muscle relaxant. Nothing particularly scary."
Even though he said that, the bodyguard’s face turned ashen. While a muscle relaxant wasn’t terrifying in itself, once injected, his muscles would be powerless for 24 hours in this vast wilderness—essentially a death sentence!
Pang Zhi considered this as well and glared angrily at those around him, powerless to make them stop. They weren’t concerned about He Lin’s life or death, rendering her useless as leverage against them. All he could do was watch as the remaining bodyguard was also injected with muscle relaxants.
Soon, both bodyguards lost all ability to resist, weakly collapsing to the ground, unable to even twitch a finger. Only then did the driver feel assured. He turned to look at Pang Zhi, who still clung to He Lin, refusing to release her, and started laughing, "How about this? You let her go, and I’ll give you a quick death. How’s that?"
Pang Zhi instinctively tightened his grip, holding He Lin firmly, obviously unwilling to let her go.
The driver frowned, seemingly troubled. Before he could speak, He Lin, now terrified, urged impatiently, "Why are you hesitating? Hurry up and save me!"
The driver shrugged with a gesture of helplessness, "Miss He, it’s not that we don’t want to save you, it’s just that Pang Zhi refuses to let you go. We’re helpless here too."
He Lin became even more panicked. She hadn’t expected that these people would disregard her life or death! She glared angrily at the driver and threatened, "Don’t forget about my status! If anything happens to me, he won’t spare you!"
She wasn’t stupid—she refrained from mentioning that person’s name, even at this moment. However, the driver’s expression changed upon recalling that person’s temperament, and he simply waved to signal the remaining three to rescue her.
Soon, Pang Zhi found himself surrounded. Nervously licking his lips, he suddenly reached out and clamped a hand around He Lin’s throat, threatening, "Don’t come closer! Otherwise, I’ll really kill her!"
The driver’s change in attitude gave him hope. He didn’t know if anyone would come to save him, but he understood that at this moment, he had to stall for time. The longer he delayed, the greater his chance of survival—just like last time.
The driver, sensing his intent, frowned. Although the place was remote, people could arrive at any moment, and the longer it dragged on, the more disadvantageous it would be for them!
He suddenly regretted letting He Lin come along. Had it not been for this busybody woman, Pang Zhi wouldn’t have had the chance to seize her.
After hesitating, the driver signaled his men to act immediately. The three had already encircled Pang Zhi, and upon receiving the order, they lunged fiercely at him. He Lin took advantage of the distraction to jab an elbow into Pang Zhi, and while he was distracted, his arms were seized firmly by others.
He Lin quickly ducked to escape his control, and as soon as she was free, she turned and gave Pang Zhi a harsh kick, landing precisely on his sensitive area, without holding back in the slightest.
Pang Zhi instantly doubled over in pain, his body bent like a prawn, his screams echoing far. The watching men instinctively clenched their thighs, now viewing He Lin with more wariness. Yet, He Lin, still unsatisfied, wanted to kick Pang Zhi a few more times but was stopped by the driver holding her arm.
"Enough!" the driver growled lowly, his creased brows revealing his displeasure.
Initially afraid, He Lin quickly summoned courage and said, "Can’t we avoid killing him outright and instead cut him up a bit, letting him be torn to pieces by mutant beasts?"
Without a second thought, the driver declined, "No way! That’s too risky and could complicate matters. It’s safer to just kill him outright."
Though she wished to say more, He Lin quieted down, cowed by the driver’s warning glance. Pouting, she stood aside, not daring to utter another word.
The driver, annoyed by her presence, suggested she return to the vehicle, signaling his men to push Pang Zhi aside and nodding to indicate it was time to act. With a grim smile, one of them drew a dagger from his waist, ready to slash Pang Zhi’s throat.
But the moment the dagger was raised, a sudden "bang" rang out, and the man’s body lurched forward! The remaining men were startled by the gunshot, instinctively turning to find that, somehow, a woman had appeared a hundred meters away.
Driver and the last two men paled, instinctively reaching for their energy guns. However, before they could fire, Tang Yiyi swiftly fired three shots!
The driver managed to evade, but his two comrades were not so lucky; both were struck by bullets, dead beyond recovery! Hiding behind the vehicle, the driver gripped his energy gun tightly, then aimed it at Pang Zhi! (To be continued.
